Chapter 5
One day later.
"He better not show up late like this all the time! Every time? This better not keep happening!" Sakura complained.
Seated atop a patch of grass, Sakura was surrounded by many ninja tools. Holding a bundle of multi-colored flowers, she offered them to Sasuke, who politely took them from Sakura and merely placed them next to him.
This gesture lead to Sakura losing any remnant of her anger and instead gleaming with happiness.
Groaning with annoyance, Sasuke was spread across a low hanging tree branch, yawning. Naruto merely laid down on the grass and stared at the clouds in the sky as visions of Iruka showed up in his sight.
"Never lose sight of yourself! Always keep moving forward! Make sure to always protect those around you, That's what a true ninja is!"
Naruto remembered the words of Iruka as a smile formed on his face remembering the words of honor left behind by the one he cherished.
Startled by a squealing pitch from Sakura which took Naruto and Sasuke by surprise, this kunoichi rolled and wailed over the grass, dramatically crying and yelling out.
"Morning everyone, ready for practice?" Kakashi raised his hand with a friendly greeting as if he was not rather late.
"HEY, YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura bellowed.
"Finally here huh..." Sasuke muttered to himself under his breath.
"Morning, sensei." Naruto cut in abruply.
Holding his favored orange book, this novel was snapped shut, slid into Kakashi's pouch. Kakashi walked up and pat Naruto on his head before speaking up
"Your assignment is very simply, you just have to get these..." He revealed a pair of jingling bells.
"If you can't get them by noon, you won't get lunch, and you'll watch me eat my lunch instead like good students." His words immediately caught the attention of the students.
"You told us not to eat breakfast so you could make this even more of a challenge?" Sasuke questioned.
Kakashi didn't say anything in response and merely stared back.
"You're late and you can't even answer questions what kind of teacher are you..." Sasuke sighed out loud.
"Wait a minute, there's three of us! So why do you only have two bells?" Sakura brought up.
"Because, one among you will fail, and be sent back to the academy." Kakashi shrugged his shoulders without a care.
Broken by this reply, Sakura nervously began to bite her nails. At the same time, Sasuke stared intensively at Kakashi hearing those accursed words.
"You can use any weapons at your disposal, including shuriken." He continued to jingle his bells.
"But, you couldn't even dodge that eraser." Sakura chuckled.
"Class clowns are always the weakest link. They're losers." Kakashi shrugged.
"At least I'm not the one giving attitude while also being late to a job they decided to do!" Sakura yelled back.
Kakashi merely shrugged before speaking once more "To me this is just a chore, To you this is the most important day of your life. Understand our positions?"
Sakura's anger immediately spiked as she grinded her teeth in response, Sakura reached into her satchel, hurling a barrage of shuriken. Catching these projectiles without any effort, they spun and twirled around Kakashi's finger.
"I'm impressed, you threw those with the intent to harm me..." Waving his hand, he encouraged his students to start.
Triggered by this order, Naruto chose the option of speed, while Sasuke hid for safety. Pulling his book loose, Kakashi briefly glanced at Naruto's previous location, squinting his visible eye.
That wasn't a body flicker that Naruto had just done, Kakashi concluded.
Flabbergasted by Sakura, this kunoichi stood at the edge of a tree-line, grinning with confidence. Joined by Sasuke and Naruto, these Genin all possessed violet and rippled eyes, the Rinnegan.
Humming with interest, Kakashi watched at his students surged towards him, scuffling the grass. Pulling kunai from their pouch, they struck and slashed at their sensei, missing each blow.
Grabbing Sakura's wrist, she was tossed through the air, surprisingly landing on her feet. Extending a firm leg to kick his student, Kakashi gasped after missing his blow, enthralled by shock.
Dropping to the forest floor, Sasuke and Naruto swung their legs in unison, clipping the grass. Leaping over this feet, Kakashi continued to read his book, turning the page with one hand.
Clasping both palms, Sasuke weaved through a collection of hand seals, inhaling air. As cheeks began to puff and swell, he spewed a torrent of flames, the result of Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu.
"He can use Fire Style already?! It takes too much chakra!" Kakashi was genuinely shocked by the usage of this technique.
Contorting and twisting through the air, he landed on a tree branch that hung above. Saved from the fierce flames, this Jounin was suddenly gripped by Sakura and Naruto, unleashing a fierce hug upon him.
As explosive tags spread across these young shinobi, they ignited into a blaze. Creating a explosive geyser of smoke and soot, chunks of wooden debris and splinters flying up into the air.
Dispersing the disguised clone of Sasuke, the real Uchiha came into sight, scoffing. Accompanied by Sakura, these young ones admired the large cloud of flickering cinders, detonated by Naruto himself.
Taking several minutes for the cloud to disappear, a hole was now dug into the earth. Gritting his teeth in frustration, Sasuke glanced from side-to-side, searching for his vanished sensei.
Abruptly sent downwards, Sasuke and Sakura were pulled underground, sinking into sand. Restrained up to their necks, they squirmed and wiggled, eventually shrouded by Kakashi's shadow.
Rushing to aid his friends, five Naruto's dropped from the tree-line, each with violet eyes. Kakashi was reading his book seemingly without any concern staring at these Naruto's.
As they were rescued from the prison in which they were kept underneath, Sasuke and Sakura were rescued by an unseen force of gravity. Hastily pressing his hands together, Sasuke went hrough the snake, ram, monkey, boar, horse and tiger seals.
Expelling a vortex of powerful flames, they collided against a mound of dirt nearby. Summoned by Kakashi, this display was known as Earth Style: Mud Wall jutsu, a B-rank technique.
While Kakashi stood behind this wall, three Naruto's charged towards him, jumping into the air. Afterwards, dozens of explosive tags spread across their bodies, igniting with a bright spark.
Sakura was crouched under lush foliage, displaying her emerald green eyes as she watched from a safe distance, Naruto and his clones were flung back towards a narrow stream.
Joined by Sasuke, this young Genin was caught by Kakashi, tossing the Uchiha into the stream where Naruto also lay. Running to save her favorite boy, Sakura tripped before faceplanting the ground, rolling near to the stream as all three students stared on.
"You'll have to do better if you want-" Kakashi was interrupted
Kakashi was caught off guard by the sudden pop of smoke that clouded his vision.
Catching a brief glimpse of Naruto's violet eyes, It was already too late. Kakashi dropped his book to the forest floor. Distracted by this panic, the sound of jingling bells startled him, glancing over his shoulder.
All three of his students stood behind him, Naruto and Sasuke holding the jingling bells with smiles accompanying the faces of these bright students.
"Do we pass?" Naruto said with a large smile..
A trick that was setup to catch Kakashi off guard that was rather risky, ended up working out in the favor of these young genin.
"You and Sasuke pass." Kakashi winked his visible eye.
Five minutes later.
Restrained and tied to a wooden post, Sakura squirmed in a wasteful attempt to break free. Ignoring the screech sounds of protest, Kakashi read from his book while leaning on a tree.
"This easily could have been you Naruto!" Sakura yelled out in anger.
"Is there a way Sakura could pass?" Naruto mumbled out.
"Well, I guess we could have a second round of try outs..." Kakashi stroked his scalp.
Pleading to earn her freedom, the group completely ignored her loud and abrasive protests. Listing his order of commands, Kakashi snapped his book before lazily yawning into one hand.
"Also, if anyone tries to feed her, all three of you will fail." After speaking, he abruptly vanished.
Grabbing their containers of gifted food, Sasuke and Naruto sorted through the stale meal. Counting they assembled pile of rice, chicken and fried eggs, Naruto gagged in disgust.
Lowering this tray of food, Naruto reached into his pouch, revealing a sealed scroll. Unwrapping this piece of paper, a wooden plate of sushi sprang into sight, neatly stacked and piled.
"How did you do that?" Sakura was almost speechless, surprised that Naruto knew so much.
"Just something I've been working for on, ya'know?" Naruto said like it was nothing.
Reaching out to feed his teammate, dirt was flung in all directions. Emanating from a tornado of leaves, the sky darkened while thunder began to rumble and roar surrounding the area.
"YOUUU!" Kakashi dramatically screamed.
"You broke the rules, I hope you're ready for the punishment." Clapping both hands together, he weaved through various seals.
Wildly thrashing beneath the ropes of her prison, Sakura developed a pair of saucer-like eyes. Matching this level of panic, Sasuke's mouth flew open as he gasped while his nervousness skyrocketed at the sight of what Kakashi was about to do.
"I'm kidding. You pass." Kakashi mumbled in a carefree tone.
"WAIT...WHAT?! I-I...PASSED...?" Sakura stuttered.
The first squad to ever pass Kakashi's test, their predecessors couldn't think for themselves. Abandoned their teammates, each group was failed time and time again, unable to get farther from where they were.
"In the shinobi world, those who break the rules are scum, true... But those who abandon their friends, are worse than scum." Kakashi winked. "You're all now official members of Team 7. We start our first mission tomorrow so prepare yourselves well."
Cheering with hands stretched out and tackled by a newly made shinobi with whiskers and a wide smile. Violet flashes radiated from his obscured eyes, this distinct light glimmering across the face in front.
"Finally..." Sasuke scoffed.
Kakashi walked up and rested one hand atop Naruto's blond scalp.
"Hey, Let's go get some ramen. What do you both think?"
"Ramen would...REALLY...hit the spot right now." Naruto's stomach growled as Sasuke also nodded his head in agreement.
All three of them proceeded to walk out of the forest clearing excited to have some delicious ramen.
"HEY! HEY!! DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME! I...ALSO WANT RAMEN...AND...SASUKE!...AND...UH...A LITTLE HELP PLEASE..?!" Sakura yelled out to the trio who walked off as she attempted to wiggle herself out of her binds to no avail.
What a day it had been.
