Chapter 13: The Black scrolls of Yuhi clan
"Everyone this is Yami Uchiha and he will be your classmate from now on" Tanaka said. He expected Yami to say some words to his classmates like take care of me or something like that but Yami had a cold and bored expression on his face. Seeing the young Yami everyone had intriguing expressions on their face. They knew that if the academy inserts someone so young directly into 3rd year then it definitely means they are strong and this guy had the last name Uchiha.
"Mr. Tanaka, is it alright if Yami joins the class from tomorrow? He still has some formalities to go through" Kurenai who was standing outside the class said.
"Yes, No problem. Yami you can go now. Come to this class from tomorrow" Tanaka said with a smile on his face. Yami simply nods and walks out of the class and stands in front of Kurenai.
"You are talented in Genjutsu Yami. I don't want to say it but even more than me. I have some scrolls of my father. Those scrolls contain genjutsu that I could never comprehend. Come with me and I will show it to you." Kurenai said while walking toward the exit of the academy.
Yami decided to follow her and in a few minutes, they reached in front of a small house. Kurenai touched the knob of the door and inserted chakra in it. The door unlocked automatically as it sensed the chakra. The inside of the room was very old style and the furniture had some dust settled on it. On the walls, there were many paintings.
"This is my father's home. I didn't visit much after his death so the place has collected so much dust. Wait here I'll get you a scroll." Kurenai said and she went inside a room leaving Yami who was standing in the center of the dust-filled hall. After a minute she came out with 2 scrolls and tossed them towards Yami who caught them faster than anyone could blink. He looked at the scrolls and they didn't look like normal scrolls. They were totally black and had golden boundaries.
"This is the first time we have ever met and then why would you give me something that's like a family treasure to you?" Yami asked the question that was looming in his mind.
"My family specializes in Genjutsu. When it was at its peak, the Genjutsu users of our family were even stronger than that of the Kurama clan. But with time due to the wars just like others our clan also declined and the scrolls passed down by our ancestors also became useless as no one was strong enough to learn those Genjutsus. My father was the last genius in our clan. At the time of his demise, he told me to find someone powerful enough to use those Genjutsus."
'The canon never showed anything about the Yuhi clan. I knew that the Kurama clan was a clan with powerful genjutsu users but I didn't know that the Yuhi clan was even stronger than them.' Yami thought.
"Why don't you take any disciple from the Kurama clan and teach them?" Yami asked expecting Kurenai to talk about Yakumo and Kurenai didn't disappoint him.
"I thought the same thing and took in a disciple from the Kurama clan as she had powerful Yin chakra but even she can't use that chakra properly and her chakra went out of control. I sealed her yin chakra so that she doesn't harm anyone else and giving her scrolls of my clan could endanger our village and I don't want to live with the guilt of it." Kurenai sighed after telling the tale of her disciple.
"So you want me to become your disciple?" Yami asked.
"No, I will assist you in practicing Genjutsu but I don't think I am strong enough to become your teacher. The only thing I request you is to practice the Genjutsu scrolls of my clan so that they can be put to good use and not share it with anyone else. Not even your brother Sasuke"
"I can agree to that" Yami said as he put the 2 scrolls in his pocket.
"Out of the 5 scrolls left by my family I have given you the black scrolls. If you can master them then I will give you the remaining three scrolls. Just remember if you can use this Genjutsu within 3 hours of reading it then you can perform it or else you can't. Don't push yourself more than 3 hours or else it will cause your Yin chakra to go haywire and your mind will get corrupted. My clan and the Kurama clan have lost many people because of this and that's the reason these scrolls are kept hidden." Kurenai warned Yami as she had seen firsthand what happens when the mind gets corrupted by Yin chakra.
"And don't start practicing today. Your academy will start from tomorrow. Wait for 3 months and during the end-of-year holidays, start practicing those 2 scrolls. Your mind will be exhausted while practicing them so don't miss academy classes."
"What are end-of-year holidays?" Yami asked.
"That's when we have festivals in the village and even the chunin exam is held" Kurenai said and Yami nodded.
'Damm I didn't know there was so much risk in using Genjutsu. The anime showed them as simple illusion jutsus.' Yami sighed as he thought his way to mastering Genjutsu could be easier than that of Taijutsu or Fuinjutsu. Yami and Kurenai talked for a few more minutes and then Yami left to go back home.
As he reached near in house in the Uchiha compound he saw Sasuke walking on the pond. Unlike the anime due to regular training with Yami, Sasuke wasn't just filled with revenge and hatred but he actually trained in chakra control and other exercises. Seeing Yami come he quickly jumped and landed in front of Yami.
"So, how did the assessment go?"
"I passed and got into class 3-A" Yami said and hearing this a smile bloomed on Sasuke's face as he patted Yami's shoulder.
"I expect nothing less from you. You are strong enough to graduate already. Are you going to?" Sasuke asked with a worried expression.
"No, I am in no hurry to graduate." Yami shrugged.
"That's good now let's start out spar" Sasuke said with a wicked smile as he activated his Sharingan.
