Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 78: Chapter 78: The Inheritance of Otsutsuki

World Governance is one of the ocular techniques Kirito awakened after mastering the power of the Rinne-Sharingan.

Unlike other ocular techniques, "World Governance" has an "entry certificate." Only those who possess this certificate can access this space. Those without the ability of "World Governance" cannot find the location, and even if they have been there, they cannot record its spatial coordinates.

In this space, no extraordinary power can be used or maintained. The definition of extraordinary power here is similar to in Kirito's previous life. Chakra, a unique energy absent in his past life, is considered an extraordinary power in this space as well.

Except for Kirito, there is no possibility for others to leave once they enter. Thus, after capturing Urashiki, Kirito felt no concerns about keeping him confined.

"HomeWorld? Your HomeWorld?"

Hearing Kirito's response, Urashiki looked confused. As a pure-blood Otsutsuki, his "HomeWorld" should have been the Otsutsuki clan's home planet. How could it be here?

"Yes. It's a pity, though—this place is just a reflection. It appears prosperous but is actually an empty shell."

When Kirito first entered this place, he had been thrilled, thinking he had returned to his familiar homeland. However, the eerie silence soon made him realize something was wrong—the scenery was merely hollow facades.

For instance, the towering skyscrapers nearby looked glamorous from the outside, but they were nothing more than glass shells with basic concrete pillars inside. The cars on the street were hollow, without even steering wheels.

Even the trees along the concrete roads, which seemed lush and vibrant, were lifeless and artificial.

Kirito had eventually accepted that this place was merely the product of the Rinne-Sharingan's ocular technique. Though disillusioned, he found himself returning occasionally, treating it as a nostalgic museum.

"Why did you bring me here?" Urashiki finally adjusted to his body's weight and struggled to stand.

"Your memories. More specifically, the knowledge and inheritance of the Otsutsuki clan," Kirito said bluntly. "I seem to share a similar physique with you, but I know little about my true identity. Your existence offers me the chance to uncover the truth."

"What?" Urashiki stared at him in shock before a realization dawned. "I see. No wonder…

"Listen, you don't need to go to such extremes to understand your lineage. I can tell you everything I know. The people you protect are nothing but seedbeds for our clan!"

Kirito shook his head. "That won't be necessary. I have a more effective way to obtain the information I need. And Naruto and the others are not ants to me. You have no idea what they mean to me."

Before Urashiki could respond, Kirito's palm began to shift, transforming into a gleaming pistol.

"Wait—"

Without hesitation, Kirito fired. The gunshots echoed in the desolate space as bullets tore through Urashiki's limbs, forcing him to his knees.

As Urashiki writhed in pain, Kirito holstered the weapon and approached him, placing a hand on his head.

"Stop—" Those were Urashiki's last words before his eyes went blank, his body limp.

Here, in this isolated dimension, even Urashiki's immense Otsutsuki powers were rendered useless. His resistance was futile.

Kirito began to extract Urashiki's memories using the Rinne-Sharingan, focusing on anything connected to the Otsutsuki clan.

The Otsutsuki Clan's History

The Otsutsuki clan were the first to harness the power of Chakra. After discovering that it could be drawn from physical and spiritual energies, they began using it as an all-purpose energy source.

Once they achieved all they could with Chakra, they sought even greater power—aiming to attain eternal life, akin to gods.

However, the amount of Chakra an individual could generate was limited. To achieve their lofty ambitions, they needed an inexhaustible supply of energy.

Thus, the Otsutsuki developed the biological weapon known as the "Sacred Tree." This tree forcibly transformed all living beings on a planet into pure Chakra extractors, absorbing their energy and converting it into Chakra.

The tree itself could refine Chakra but lacked spiritual energy. The Otsutsuki solved this by sacrificing one of their own to the Sacred Tree, supplying it with the spiritual energy it required. Before consuming an Otsutsuki, the Sacred Tree existed as a seed—the Ten Tails, a mindless entity acting purely on instinct.

Once the Sacred Tree absorbed a planet's Chakra, it bore a "Chakra Fruit" containing the planet's distilled essence. The Otsutsuki used these fruits to fuel their quest for godhood.

Kirito's Revelation

[So that's how it works… But what about the Chakra fruit I consumed?]

Kirito's memories from before his arrival in this world were vague, but he recalled vividly that the Chakra fruit tasted incredibly delicious.

Delving further into Urashiki's memories, Kirito learned the Otsutsuki never consumed the fruit directly as Kaguya did. Though it granted immense power and longevity, it overwhelmed the consumer, transforming them into a mindless monster driven by a hunger for more Chakra.

To mitigate this, the Otsutsuki refined the Chakra fruit into an "elixir." This process removed the adverse effects, providing only extended life and partial power. Consistent consumption could replicate the effects of the fruit over time.

[An elixir, huh?] Kirito thought, learning how to refine Chakra into an elixir.

The Otsutsuki's "Karma"

The Otsutsuki had mastered genetic manipulation, allowing them to compress their physical form into a "Karma." This Karma could be implanted into other beings, enabling the Otsutsuki to resurrect by gradually taking over the host's body.

Once the Karma thawed completely, the host became a vessel for the Otsutsuki's reincarnation. However, the process required a compatible host—closer genetic similarity meant faster integration.

[This could serve as a backup plan… but it's not without limits. If the vessel isn't strong, reincarnation would be short-lived.]

Searching for Urashiki's Karma, Kirito found none. It seemed Urashiki had been too reckless, leaving himself defenseless.

[How pathetic. Even reincarnation can't save you now.]

In this space, even souls dissolved into nothingness. Urashiki's end was absolute.

The Otsutsuki's God

As Kirito probed deeper into Urashiki's memories, he came across an immense "divine statue." Its countless hollow eye sockets seemed to stare directly at him.

[What the—?!]

Startled, Kirito realized Urashiki's memories of this area were vanishing rapidly. The phenomenon spread like wildfire, erasing everything connected to the statue.

Reluctantly, Kirito let go of Urashiki's head. The once-mighty Otsutsuki now knelt lifelessly, his memories almost entirely gone.

Kirito speculated this phenomenon was a defense mechanism of the Otsutsuki clan, evidence of their unparalleled mastery of genetics and Chakra.

Looking down at Urashiki's motionless figure, Kirito pondered how to handle him.
