Naruto: Starting By Saving Mikoto

Chapter 16: Chapter 16 Awakening

The months rolled on, each day blending into the next as Hiro and Mikoto continued their intense training. The routine was grueling, but Hiro's resolve never wavered.

Every illusion, every painful memory, he faced with unwavering determination. Yet, despite his relentless efforts, the Mangekyō Sharingan remained dormant.

Hiro's approach had changed fundamentally.

He no longer sought to awaken his power through sheer force of will.

Instead, he focused on his emotions and connections, letting them guide him.

Mikoto supported him every step of the way, her presence a constant source of strength.

One fateful night, four months after they had begun their training, the air was thick with tension.

Hiro and Mikoto were once again deep in the back mountains, the familiar setting now a second home to them.

Hiro felt a strange sense of anticipation in the air, as if something significant was about to happen.

They began the session as usual, with Mikoto casting another powerful genjutsu. This time, the illusion was different.

Hiro found himself in a serene, beautiful meadow, surrounded by those he loved. Mikoto was there, smiling warmly at him, her eyes filled with affection and pride.

But as the illusion progressed, dark clouds began to gather overhead, and the scene shifted. The meadow turned into a battlefield once more, but this time, Hiro was not a helpless spectator.

He fought alongside his friends and comrades, protecting them with all his might. He felt their trust in him, their belief that he would keep them safe.

In the midst of the chaos, a powerful enemy appeared, aiming straight for Mikoto. Hiro's heart clenched with fear, but also with a fierce determination. He couldn't lose her—not now, not ever.

The enemy's attack was swift, too fast for Hiro to counter. As the deadly blow neared Mikoto, something inside Hiro snapped.

A surge of energy, unlike anything he had ever felt before, erupted within him. His vision blurred, then sharpened, and he felt an overwhelming surge of power.

When he came back to reality, he was on his knees, panting heavily. His eyes burned, and he could feel the intense chakra coursing through him.

Mikoto was beside him, her expression a mix of shock and awe.

"Hiro… your eyes," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Hiro blinked, feeling a strange sensation in his vision. He turned to look at Mikoto and saw her reflection in her wide eyes—his own eyes, now blazing with the crimson patterns of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

He had done it. He had awakened the Mangekyō, not through pain or suffering, but through his deep, unyielding desire to protect the ones he loved.

Mikoto helped him to his feet, her touch grounding him. "Hiro, you did it," she said, her voice filled with pride and relief.

Hiro looked at her, his heart swelling with gratitude and love. "I couldn't have done it without you, Mikoto. You were my strength."

She smiled, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "And you are mine."

As they stood there, the night sky above them filled with stars, Hiro felt a profound sense of accomplishment and peace.

Taking a steadying breath, Hiro began to explain, his voice carrying the weight of newfound power. "I've unlocked two abilities with the Mangekyō Sharingan."

Mikoto's eyes were a mix of curiosity and concern. "What are they?"

Hiro met her gaze, the crimson patterns of his Mangekyō reflecting in her dark eyes.

"The first is Gensei no Shi—Illusion of Death. With it, I can cast an illusion so vivid that the target experiences death in its entirety.

They'll endure every harrowing moment, feeling the grip of death tighten around them. If their mind isn't strong enough, the shock alone could lead to their demise.

It's not just about defeating an enemy; it's about completely breaking them."

Mikoto nodded slowly, her expression serious as she absorbed his words. "That's a terrifying power, Hiro. It's not just lethal; it's cruel. You could destroy someone from the inside out."

Hiro's expression darkened as he continued.

"The second is Sokushin no Kōgeki—Instant Death Strike.

It allows me to channel a death-inducing force into any physical or chakra-based attack.

If I land a hit, it bypasses all defenses, killing the target instantly. It's a direct and lethal approach, meant for when there's no time to waste."

she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Hiro, congratulations. All the struggles, the sacrifices, the trials over these past two years… they've led you to this. You've achieved something truly remarkable."

Hiro felt a surge of warmth at her words, his heart swelling with gratitude.

The journey had been long and arduous since they had fled from Konoha two years ago, and this moment felt like the culmination of all their struggles.

Mikoto continued, her voice filled with pride and relief.

"Two years ago, we left behind everything we knew, facing countless challenges and dangers.

You've pushed yourself to the limits, and now you've unlocked the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan. This is a testament to your strength."

Mikoto smiled warmly. "And that's exactly why you've succeeded. Your heart, your dedication—it's what makes you strong. We've come so far."
