Naruto: SSS-Rank Romance System

Chapter 10: The Ninja World

The next morning, Naruto struggled to wake up early.

After three consecutive days of rest, Naruto almost forgot that he was still a ninja. In this world, with no smartphones and computers that are too expensive, there are almost no entertainment activities.

Naruto couldn't understand why there was electricity in the Hokage world. Moreover, this electricity wasn't generated by human lightning jutsu, but was real, civilian power.

This proved that the technology in this world had already entered the electrical era. Everywhere in Konoha, you could see utility poles, televisions, refrigerators, and even air conditioners, washing machines, and dryers.

Naruto's current situation was that of an orphan receiving basic welfare. He had no background, no money, and no significant abilities as a low-ranking ninja.

The old refrigerator at home had already broken down, and Naruto scratched his head for a long time but couldn't figure out how to fix it, so much so that on his first day in this world, he ended up with a few bottles of expired milk.

However, Naruto's welfare was relatively generous. As long as it didn't involve purchasing large items, living a normal life wasn't a problem.

Generally, welfare payments stop when Naruto becomes a ninja, and after that, he has to support himself by taking various missions.

After being in this world for a little over half a month, Naruto had a rough understanding of the technology here. The world's technology was relatively weak, more like a technology tree that went off course.

The emergence of ninjas had propelled technological development, but the overwhelming power of chakra had also hindered progress in certain areas.

For example, the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, who had five chakra natures, could light a cigarette without a lighter, and could monitor people with just a crystal ball.

The power and convenience of ninjutsu made people focus more on territorial conflicts and battles. Since the first Hokage established Konoha, the ninja world had experienced countless great ninja wars.

Under war, technology struggled to develop quickly. Since ninjas were the main protagonists of this world, technology naturally focused on meeting the needs of ninjas.

To facilitate communication within villages, there were communication devices, but cross-country and cross-village communication systems were still outdated due to sensitive intelligence issues.

In certain situations, technology would step aside to make room for ninjutsu.

What concerned Naruto wasn't just the misaligned technology tree in this world, but also the state of weaponry.

Ninjas mostly used traditional cold weapons, with a rare upgrade being the chakra short blade used by Kakashi's father, the Konoha White Fang.

There were also weapons transformed by summoning beasts, like the Third Hokage's summoning beast, Enma. Then there were the seven ninja swords used by the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, cursed blades.

However, legendary weapons like the Kusanagi sword, the Sword of Ten Fists, and the Heaven Spear, left behind by the Sage of Six Paths, seemed somewhat outdated by the time they were revealed. When they eventually appeared, they were no match for the bloodline warriors running rampant.

But what about firearms?

It seemed that, apart from the powerful artillery of the Akatsuki member, Sasori, who came from Sunagakure, and the various tracking missiles and laser cannons used by the Asura Path in Pain's body, firearms hadn't developed much.

The development of firearms seemed to rely heavily on the puppeteer group. In the distant Land of Snow, high-tech weapons like chakra armor appeared, as well as steam-powered airships and steamships, but due to geographical restrictions, cold weapons like large shuriken launchers still dominated.

The Sky Ninja Village even had flying aircraft carriers, which, although not powered by nuclear energy, still possessed significant deterrent power.

Overall, the world's technology was limited by the ongoing wars. The great ninja villages had been in conflict for so long that peace seemed impossible.

Given this, ninjas, as the main combat force, naturally held a higher status than technology. Technology couldn't advance independently without ninjas, and was still heavily constrained.

The existence of ninjas had changed the world's structure, and the world's Cold War-like state also limited technological progress.

After washing up, Naruto looked at his sleep-deprived reflection in the mirror and couldn't help but yawn. He threw his toothbrush into the cup and ended his daydreaming in the bathroom.

He dressed and went out. By the time he arrived at the ninja school, many students were already there. Naruto's late arrival still attracted some attention, but no one approached him to greet him.

Everyone was discussing who their teammates would be and which jonin would lead their team. Ninja squads were composed of three members.

Since the end of the Second Great Ninja War, the role of Tsunade, a medical ninja among the Legendary Three Ninjas, had been recognized by the higher-ups.

To some extent, having a female medical ninja in a squad would greatly increase the survival rate and mission success rate. After that, the traditional team composition of two men and one woman had been maintained.

Konoha officially stated this, but Naruto understood that it was only part of the story. The more pressing reason was that after years of war, Konoha's manpower was nearly depleted.

A ninja village is essentially a militarized camp, where wars are characterized by indiscriminate charges and slaughter. It wasn't realistic to have a female medical ninja in every three-man team.

So, when Tsunade proposed the idea of two men and one woman, Konoha's higher-ups were initially unmoved. Some even believed it was an overly idealistic idea that Tsunade had come up with out of sadness after her brother Nawaki's death.

However, after years of war, the high-ups were eventually forced to accept Tsunade's proposal. The high casualty rates had left Konoha with few people to send to the battlefield. In the end, even children as young as ten or twelve were being sent to fight.

If they didn't equip medical ninjas, soon even the elderly, the weak, and women would have to fight with kunai.

"Naruto, aren't you curious about what your teammates will be like?" Choji asked, nudging Naruto, who was staring blankly with lifeless eyes.

"I'm not curious, not curious at all," Naruto replied indifferently, holding his head. "Even if others are nervous, what's the point of making a big deal out of it?"

As he spoke, Naruto's gaze swept across Shikamaru, Choji, and Ino.

"The village's Ino-Shika-Cho trio. If I were Hokage, I'd never break you up."

Hearing this, Ino scoffed and complained.

"Team up with those two? So annoying!"

"Annoying," Shikamaru muttered.

"Hehe," Choji seemed quite happy. Maybe this way, he wouldn't have to part with his childhood friends.

Perhaps because they grew up together, Shikamaru and Choji had never seen Ino as a girl. Ino, on the other hand, seemed to have her eyes fixed on Sasuke, her carefree personality more like a boy.
