Chapter 44: Chapter 44: The Technique to Control Lightning
Since this was about developing a C-rank jutsu, it was clear that there couldn't be too much emphasis on raw power.
But that was only relative.
Sasuke didn't see it that way.
In Sasuke's eyes, the so-called ranking of a jutsu was partly a classification based on its potential destructive power.
But did a low-rank jutsu necessarily lack the ability to unleash the power of a higher-ranked jutsu?
Take Madara, for instance his Great Fire Annihilation forced the Allied Shinobi Forces' Water Release users to combine their powers to block it.
Was that the original power of Great Fire Annihilation?
Clearly not!
It was Madara's personal abilities that turned a standard Fire Release jutsu into something comparable to an ultimate technique.
This was precisely Sasuke's current thought process.
The power of a C-rank jutsu could be considered as follows:
Spend 100 points of chakra to unleash 20 points of power.
But if someone with 10,000 chakra points used it, would the results be the same as someone with only 1,000 points?
Of course not.
With this logic, Sasuke's goal for developing this new jutsu wasn't about maximizing power efficiency by using minimal chakra.
Instead, he aimed to design a technique that could retain its maximum potential while scaling its power based on the user's chakra reserves.
[Host's concept detected.][Simulating...]
The next moment, the familiar blue mannequin appeared.
Lightning surged from its body, resembling a weaker version of the Lightning Release: Lightning Speed state.
The mannequin raised its hand, gathering lightning at its fingertips, and struck forward. The lightning enhanced its speed significantly and added moderate strength to the attack.
However, the focus was clearly on speed, with only a minor boost to physical power. Due to limitations, the increase in strength couldn't be pushed too far.
Then the mannequin began attacking continuously, channeling lightning into its fists and feet. Lightning gathered in its hands when it punched and in its legs when it kicked.
The flow of lightning was remarkably fast!
But Sasuke's envisioned technique wasn't just about close-range combat.
The mannequin steadied itself, clapped its hands together, and then flung them apart.
In an instant, a burst of lightning erupted from its palms.
A bolt as thick as an arm shot out, traveling a distance of about eight meters.
The mannequin then pulled its hands back and raised a single finger, pointing into the distance.
This time, the lightning bolt was thinner and slower, with significantly reduced power.
It shot from the mannequin's fingertip, reaching a distance of around 20 meters. However, it resembled a small, snake-like arc of electricity.
This was Sasuke's new vision for a Lightning Release jutsu one that could seamlessly adapt to close, mid, and long-range combat situations.
This Lightning Release technique also grants a brief stimulation to the cells in the affected body part when lightning is channeled through it.
It can enhance either speed or strength.
Of course, the primary boost is to speed, as a C-rank jutsu cannot achieve perfection in increasing physical strength.
The power of the released Lightning Release jutsu depends on the user's chakra reserves.
The greater the chakra, the more astonishing the power.
However, it is still no match for the power of Lightning Release: Lightning Speed.
This is like the difference between 100 chakra points producing 100 points of damage versus 100 chakra points producing only 20 points of damage.
As Sasuke watched the blue mannequin successfully simulate his concept, the system's voice followed.
[Simulation successful. Would you like to begin the first assisted practice?]
"Let's begin!"
Sasuke slowly closed his eyes, focusing on the flow of chakra within his body.
As his chakra surged, he distinctly felt a fierce current, as though it was erupting from within him.
In a flash, it coursed through his entire body and began to pour outward.
It felt as if every part of his body was suddenly boiling with hot blood, which then burst out through his pores.
Sasuke opened his eyes and saw lightning bursting from various parts of his body.
Although this eruption wasn't as intense as Lightning Release: Lightning Speed, with a mere thought, Sasuke could direct the lightning to concentrate on any part of his body.
Focusing it on his hands enhanced his Taijutsu attacks, even allowing the lightning to extend to his weapons, boosting their offensive power.
When transferred to his legs, it provided a brief speed boost, akin to a weaker version of the Body Flicker Technique.
While this technique wasn't overly powerful and offered only limited support to Sasuke in close, mid, or long-range combat, its potential could be increased by outputting more chakra.
However, relatively speaking, using 100 chakra points to enhance this technique's power might not be as efficient as using the same amount for another jutsu.
Ultimately, the decision of when and how to use it would depend on the battle situation.
This technique's effect felt like a weaker version of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit abilities, minus the power of elemental transformation.
For Sasuke at his current level, it was already quite impressive.
[Assisted practice complete. Would you like to continue assisted practice?]
Huh?
Continue? Sasuke had already mastered the technique in one session.
But if multiple rounds of assisted practice could further enhance his control over the technique, then why not?
"Let's continue!"
After two more rounds of assisted practice, the system's voice rang out once again.
[Three rounds of assisted practice completed.]
[Please name the jutsu, Host.]
"No fourth round of assisted practice, huh?"
Sasuke couldn't deny that the system's assisted practice feature was incredibly useful. By focusing during the process, he could gain valuable insights.
Many intricate details of the technique became clear to him.
"Let's call it Lightning Release: Discharge!"
[Name successfully registered.]
[Lightning Release: Discharge (Mastery Level: Proficient)]
After three rounds of assisted practice, Sasuke had already achieved proficiency in controlling this jutsu.
He carefully assessed the technique.
"The effect... it's even better than I imagined!"
Sasuke smiled as he opened his eyes, leaving the Ninjutsu Laboratory behind.
With his new jutsu, Lightning Release: Discharge, which required no hand signs to activate, he was ready.
Although the jutsu wasn't particularly powerful, its unpredictability gave it the potential to achieve surprising results in battle.
Sasuke clenched his fist lightly.
"Zabuza... I hope you show up soon..."
Zzzzzzt!
Sparks of electricity crackled and danced across Sasuke's fist.
