Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Post-Battle Reflection: "Low on Chakra!"
After finishing ramen with Naruto and Sakura, Kakashi looked at his nearly empty wallet with tears streaming down his face.
He never imagined Naruto could eat so much, practically draining half of his funds.
If he'd known, he wouldn't have brought them out for ramen in the first place.
After tearfully bidding farewell to Naruto, Kakashi made his way to the Hokage's office, where Hiruzen had just finished some paperwork and was taking a break.
"Kakashi, you're here! Come on in!"
Hiruzen greeted Kakashi warmly, his mood seemingly quite good.
Discovering a prodigy like Uchiha Sasuke had lifted his spirits.
Although Sasuke belonged to the Uchiha clan, various observations suggested that he was a promising kid.
Moreover, at his young age, Sasuke had the potential to grow into one of Konoha's great pillars.
"Apologies, Lord Third. I wasn't able to force Sasuke to use his Lightning Release."
Kakashi braced himself for reprimand, but to his surprise, Hiruzen didn't criticize him. Instead, he nodded calmly.
"No matter. There's no rush. We'll have plenty of opportunities to see that Lightning Release in the future."
"What's your impression of Sasuke?"
Kakashi took a moment to organize his thoughts.
"Sasuke is probably the most gifted among this batch of genin. In fact, it's no exaggeration to say that Konoha hasn't seen such talent in the last decade.
"Even compared to Uchiha Itachi, his innate talent might…"
Kakashi trailed off, but his evaluation was clear. Hiruzen's assessment aligned closely with Kakashi's.
"In that case, you must take Sasuke's training very seriously," Hiruzen said firmly.
"A boy with talent like his must not be allowed to stray off the right path. He has the potential to grow into one of Konoha's greatest defenders!"
Hearing this, Kakashi couldn't help but feel that Hiruzen's stance toward the Uchiha had shifted dramatically.
Not long ago, the Third Hokage had considered Sasuke a potential threat, ready to eliminate him at the first sign of betrayal.
Now, this change in attitude only made Kakashi more optimistic.
"I won't let you down, Lord Third!" Kakashi vowed.
Hiruzen nodded. "Let's hope the Will of Fire can be passed down to Naruto, Sasuke, and the others."
"I understand!"
The Will of Fire—essentially a form of indoctrination.
Meanwhile, at home, Sasuke was pondering how to best use his latest reward to enhance one of his jutsu mastery levels.

Sasuke mulled over his options. Which jutsu should he prioritize?
This is Sasuke's current system data template.
The two jutsu he learned in the lab were also recorded by the system.
What surprised Sasuke the most was taijutsu!
Simply sparring with Kakashi had caused his taijutsu proficiency to upgrade—from beginner to skilled.
Sasuke hadn't expected this at all.
It turned out improving taijutsu was astonishingly simple.
However, now wasn't the time to dwell on that.
The priority was deciding which jutsu to enhance using the reward.
The system only allowed upgrades for ninjutsu.
This included fire-style, lightning-style, genjutsu, and some special techniques—all of which were classified under ninjutsu.
Sasuke found himself hesitating over which jutsu to choose.
His primary considerations were Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation and Lightning Release: Godspeed.
The Great Fire Annihilation technique was unforgettable, thanks to the deep impression left by Madara's legendary usage of it.
As a result, Sasuke couldn't stop thinking about it.
On the other hand, Godspeed would significantly benefit him.
However, due to Sasuke's limited chakra reserves, lack of training time, and insufficient opportunities for practice, improving Godspeed on his own seemed difficult.
If Sasuke followed his heart, enhancing Great Fire Annihilation would undoubtedly create an incredible visual impact—an inferno so powerful that it would take an entire squad using water-style techniques to extinguish it. What a spectacle that would be!
But in terms of practicality, upgrading lightning-style techniques offered the greatest benefit.
After a brief internal debate, reality won over idealism.
"Let's focus on maximizing my strength for now!" Sasuke decided.
"As for Great Fire Annihilation, there will be opportunities for that later!"
With this resolution, Sasuke silently activated his reward and directed it toward Godspeed.
In an instant, the system reflected the new level:
[Lightning Release: Godspeed (Skilled)]
The upgrade didn't seem to produce any immediate changes.
Sasuke closed his eyes, carefully recalling his knowledge of Godspeed. Suddenly, he felt something different.
While the technique's mechanics hadn't changed, his body seemed to have developed a host of new muscle memories out of nowhere.
When Sasuke visualized the technique, his chakra instinctively knew how to flow, and his body automatically adjusted to execute the jutsu with maximum efficiency and stability.
Additionally, chakra consumption appeared to have decreased by about one-third.
In other words, with his current chakra reserves, Sasuke could sustain the technique for over a minute now.
Moreover, its power seemed to have increased as well.
Not bad at all!
Sasuke nodded in satisfaction. This reward was worth it.
If he could regularly unlock similar rewards, upgrading all his jutsu would become a breeze.
Yet, just as this thought crossed his mind, Sasuke dismissed it.
"I already have the perfect talent granted by the system. Even if I train on my own, it won't take long!"
"Such rewards are nice to have, but they aren't essential."
Relying on his own efforts to grow stronger always felt more dependable.
Besides, wasting his exceptional talent by slacking off would be a shame.
"I need to focus on increasing my chakra reserves!"
Reflecting on today's battle, just two fire-style jutsu had consumed nearly one-fifth of Sasuke's chakra.
Furthermore, the intense physical activity during the fight had caused him to waste a significant amount of chakra while casting techniques.
His chakra reserves were still far too low.
If he had an ample supply of chakra, even Kakashi wouldn't stand a chance against him!
