My Upgrades are Invincible. Rewrite

Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Commissioned by Kriegan

For all that I could use my Fusion Skill to remake a lot of fantasy weapons, at least in their shape if not their abilities due to a lack of materials that would give the weapons their special effects. But I realized something as I used a stupid amount of scrap metal Tsubaki couldn't be arsed to clean up to make Guts, Buster Sword.

That was, for one. The complicated weapons I made like trick weapons from Bloodborne were very finicky and obviously would take a lot of training to master them... Secondly and most importantly, I only had two hands and more realistically I could only really use one weapon at a time as I preferred to use two-handed weapons for their longer reach.

So, I was thinking... What two-handed fantasy or otherwise weapon did I really like back in my old life. As I wasn't picky, sword, axe, halberd, spear... I just wanted a bigger weapon to keep monsters and people at a distance.

Then I came across an interesting weapon choice I could try to specialize in for more general monster killing. The Farron Greatsword, a great sword built for wild wide swings with one hand, while in my other hand, I would have dueling dagger for people or things that got too close... And I still had a couple of drops of Hephaestus's blood!

In the relative safety and privacy of my apartment I fused together some left-over high-level alloy metal scrap to form the base of the Farron Greatsword itself and then I began using the left-over drops of Hephaestus's blood and its effects upon the sword was... Just beautiful honestly.

The sword's edge had almost molten-looking spotty edges that looked like they were coals or something on the blade with their random locations, at least that's what I thought as I realized the spots of fiery glow were slightly moving back and forth across the blade, but the spots and edges of flames never collided with each other. So it was like I had used an Ember or something in Dark Souls Three.

After a moment of thought, I thought about what to do with the brutal dueling dagger thing that went with the Farron Greatsword and then I shrugged and just used some highly magnetic metals to fuse into the dagger that was only a couple degrees off with its blades angle in becoming an ice climbing axe.

"Another new weapon?" Tina asked raising an eyebrow at the weapon I had fused, and I nodded slowly.

"Yeah... I think I will keep this as my more specialized weapon, obviously when I can and need to, I will be using the growth weapons to evolve them but I need a powerful base weapon." I explained as I used my weird inspection ability to get an idea of what the sword could do.

[Farron's Greatsword] [Blessed by the divine fire of Hephaestus, this sword is capable of sending out swathes of powerful flames. The user is also protected from heightened temperatures. Warning, the sword does not protect the user from air deprivation caused by the flames.]

[Two Quests] [Lord of Cinder's Assembly.] [Oath of Brotherhood]

"Huh, this thing actually has two quests or upgrade methods," I muttered making Tina raise an eyebrow but then I realized that the second quest actually had a mental toggle to it like my first spear did so I could see what it wanted me to do, in order to fulfill the quest's requirement.

[Oath of Brotherhood] [ Pledge thyself to the Watchdog's of Farron, slay monsters of pure darkness to enhance weapon.] [Once the User dares, they may challenge the Abyss Watcher's within the User's mental space. Should the User get killed, his soul will be damaged, and be unable to have Falna updated nor challenge the Abyss Watchers for upwards of a week.] [Rewards- User may summon clones of himself that will lock onto the target of interest with the vestiges of the Abyss Watcher's martial skill piloting the clones.]

"Well, this is... Scary, note to self. Be careful using the blood of a divine in making a weapon as it doesn't fuck around." I muttered as I realized this weapon may honestly be a bit above my pay grade.

"Jake..." Tina said in a drawl making me look up at her amusedly as she looked at me with amusement. "Congratulations one having your first child with Lady Hephaestus." She said cheekily and I couldn't help but snort at her words before I froze.

She may very well become... Weird around the sword, and I didn't want to just give up my new sword! I looked to Tina and put a finger to my lips and said flatly. "Shhh..."

Tina just rolled her eyes and then went over and sat beside me on the couch and laid her head on my shoulder's as she muttered. "Whatever, just wait till she finds out about it anyway... Let's get some sleep before we go back to the dungeon tomorrow anyway, as we are going to deeper floors to make new monster growth weapons."

I nodded and put away my new weapons. Then I wrapped my arm around Tina and pulled her tight against me as I used the other arm to grab the blanket hanging over the back of the couch to pull it over us.

Honestly, the best part about snuggling with Pallum women was that despite them being smaller, they still had the softness of a woman... They were literally an entire race of small stacks and thus the perfect hug pillows.

No wonder, none of the other races could take them seriously.

The following day's start was fairly normal honestly, Tina made us breakfast while I made lunch for us, so that later on we could eat a hot meal comfortably in the dungeon with how everything in my fusion space was seemingly time-locked. After we did our morning stuff we then made our way across Orario down the northern main street that led us south to the middle of the city in which the Tower of Babel was, with the dungeon beneath the massive tower.

"We should head down to the seventh floor, there will still be goblins and kobolds. But there will also be Frog Shooters, Dungeon Lizards, War Shadows, Killer Ants, Purple Moths, and Needle Rabbits. and the Blue Papilio which as you know is used in making the base of almost all the common potions of the world." I said as I recited the information my fellow Hephaestus members drilled into my head when they taught me about the dungeon and its dangers.

They made it clear that the pretty guild lady secretaries were nice to learn from if you like getting your throat torn out... As their maps weren't worth shit compared to the private Familia maps that had recorded dungeon monsters' typical migrations and where monsters loved to hide within. And how could those girls who never even killed a goblin or monster in their lives actually advise an adventurer anyway?

I couldn't argue with the angry dwarf dude so I just listened to his quick brutal lessons on the dungeon monster's before he sent me running off as he got into his drink, and started muttering about his old buddies that got killed while they fucked a mermaid and then other monsters jumped them.

Tina nodded in understanding as we had long outgrown the first couple floors with only goblins and kobolds and with our armor and weapons, we were capable of dealing with the monsters of the seventh floor without too many issues besides the War Shadow's speed and the Killer Ant's calling a horde when they scream.

Going down to the Seventh Floor of the dungeon wasn't anything difficult as the dungeon itself rarely spawned monsters on the direct path towards the deeper floor's. Which made sense as it was saving its energy from spawning trash mobs against the level two or three's going down to the double-digit floors and monsters from the floor's above would be nothing against them.

Once we got to the seventh floor and killed a dungeon lizard I made a new weapon for Tina that was then fuzed into her previous combination growth spear that was made from the goblin and kobold spears we finished before. "Alright... Time to make a fuck load of spears to load these growth things onto so we can start killing the monster's with the spears." I muttered as I felt a stab of annoyance at the realization that we would need to literally kill five hundred of each race's monster to get that damned Excellia boost from the quest.

Some monsters like Killer Ants were going to be beyond easy with the hoard mechanics that would summon dozens of them at a time... But the somewhat rare Blue Papilio? The thought of hunting down a fucking thousand of the damned things to fill out both of our quests made me feel exhausted honestly.

"At least we won't need to worry about coming across any Zeus members fighting," Tina muttered as she beheld her new spear that had scales appearing within the fur grip of the long haft of her spear. And to her words, I couldn't agree more.

"Alright, let's go kill some monsters," I said quietly as I pulled out my own growth spear combination and hefted it into my hands as we crossed past an intersection and I threw my head backward with my vision blurring slightly with the motion as a pitch black clawed hand made out of shadows sliced at my face and particularly my eyes. 'Fucking camping Warshadow!' I mentally snarled as I spun around to bleed off the momentum of my backpedal. As I did so, Tina with her eyes glowing with a crimson light stepped past me and rammed her spear into the upper chest of the War Shadow that seemingly didn't expect Tina to be a midget Pallum as its next swing with its clawed hands just sailed over her head harmlessly.

Then as though waiting for its brethren to die, another War Shadow zipped out from behind the other side of the intersection rushing toward Tina who was pulling her spear out of the struggling War Shadow she impaled but even with her Blood Fury Spear skill, that enhanced her physical abilities greatly, she still had to take a whole couple seconds to rip her spear out of the War Shadow's chest but I was here so while she was disengaging from the first War Shadow I stepped forth and I took out my new Farron Blade to try it out.

The sword burned with a fierce bloody light as though sensing the War Shadow's nature of a being of darkness and the War Shadow itself literally froze and violently shivered with its body of corporeal shadow rippling like thick muddy water that had a rock thrown into it. And that fear response the monster had to the Farron Greatsword, was more than enough time for me to chop the greatsword through its head that only had the feature of a single gem-like eye.

We had reached a new milestone in the dungeon. Now we just needed to grind it out.
