38: Application for Club Establishment
“The ‘Not Going Home Club’? Another ridiculous club name has surfaced. Really…? Do I have to be the advisor for this?”
“Well, apparently, Mr. Takatsuki said he’d be the advisor. It’s an adult’s job to take responsibility for their own statements, right?”
“Stop using logic to pressure me. It’s a little scary… Well, whatever. It’s very you, especially this stupidly obvious naming sense. It’s so Nagiura-like.”
“Um, could you stop insulting me as if it’s normal? It’s too pitiful for me.”
After such an exchange, the application for establishing the club was successfully accepted. It was stamped by Mr. Takatsuki and taken away.
In hindsight, it’s not like the club would be established just because Mr. Takatsuki accepted the application… Well, from here on, I’m sure Mr. Takatsuki will handle it smoothly.
Our school already has many strange clubs. The rules around this might be ambiguous.
However, with just the two of us, it feels more like a social group than a club.
The Not Going Home Social Group is too nonsensical.
Please, somehow let this pass as a club… I found myself praying involuntarily.
“Oh, good attitude. Respect me more?”
“Yes! I wish upon your abnormal workaholic nature, teacher…!”
“That’s more of a curse than a wish…”
Mr. Takatsuki sighed deeply, saying it’s bad luck. Then, he glared at me.
“Still, you are starting a club, huh. When Kamidama asked me, I couldn’t believe it… What, did you fall in love?”
“There it is. Adults with their annoying probing… I can’t exactly hate her. But, whether I can fall in love is another matter.”
“You’re really such a troublesome kid.”
“Why do you look so happy saying that…?”
Although it was just straightforward insults, it made it hard to complain. Damn, looking down on me while being the most annoying woman…
Especially when she fought with that deadbeat band guy, it was crazy. I thought my messaging app would break from all the notifications.
It happens sometimes. Basically, I’m free, so it’s fine, but still, I was worried about various things.
She keeps calling me a loner, but I bet Mr. Takatsuki has no friends either…
They say you meet fewer people when you become an adult, so maybe I should be kinder to her.
“Nagiura, when you’re thinking something rude, you always look up to the right.”
“Eh? Seriously? Wow, it’s true.”
“So, you were thinking something rude.”
“…! Th-that’s unfair, teacher! You fiend! Old maid! Maker of deadbeat guys! You want to get married soon, but your boyfriend isn’t earning enough yet, and you’re vaguely anxious about the future!”
“W-wait a minute! Stop choosing such high-damage words! It seriously makes me anxious!!”
“I seem to have hit a critical spot…”
Mr. Takatsuki slumped over the desk, saying she was already anxious when going to bed lately. Alright! I won!
Even though I dealt more severe damage than I intended, it should be forgiven as a rare counterattack.
…It will be forgiven, right?
Feeling increasingly anxious, I decided to quietly leave the scene.
As I turned my back, a hand grabbed me firmly.
Trembling, I looked back to find blue eyes narrowed and glaring at me like a giant spear.
Am I going to die here?
“I-I don’t want to die yet…”
“I’m not going to kill you! You’re so rude… But you will face a penalty.”
“Are you going to bury my body?”
“You… I’ll have you clean the classrooms I’ve unlocked. Make them spotless.”
“That’s just a pain…”
Depending on the classroom, most of the ones with these keys are covered in dust. They’ve been neglected for years, after all.
The library was like that, and the fourth-floor classroom I hang out in during lunch was dusty when I found it.
I cleaned it desperately… Even though it felt right, I was too diligent as a first-year.
But, since I’m free after school anyway, and considering I’m not rushed, it’s not too bad.
I shrugged my shoulders and sighed, feeling resigned.
“Well, if it’s a request from Mr. Takatsuki, I can’t refuse. Oh well.”
“Why does it sound like I’m asking you? You’re the one being ordered…! I could make you participate in the morning greeting campaign?”
“Yikes… I’ll clean with all my heart!”
Mr. Takatsuki nodded in satisfaction as I saluted sharply.
There was no choice but to obey her overwhelming instructor aura—or rather, it was that.
Mr. Takatsuki, being half-foreign, sometimes shows an unreal beauty.
Also, since she’s genuinely beautiful, it’s super scary when she glares. Even though I’ve gotten used to it recently, the fear remains.
“Make sure you wipe the floors too.”
“That’s asking too much… It’s too much to ask of a student…”
“Oh, but you’re not alone, right? Kamidama is there too.”
“Well, I do have some sense of decency to think it’s too much to ask Kamidama to do that…”
Honestly, if I explained the situation, she would probably help cheerfully, even taking the lead. It made me feel even more guilty.
I can already see it, “Come on, Uraku. Just a bit more effort,” as she makes me work…
“That’s too late to say now…”
“That is true, but…”
“Well, anyway, I’ll also have Kamidama help. After all, you’re both my subordinates… ahem, members of the club I’m advising.”
“You’re letting your true intentions slip.”
She totally called us subordinates… This revealed why she easily took on the troublesome role of club advisor.
This teacher fully intends to use us as her hands and feet…
I don’t want to work! I screamed internally, but it was meaningless since I had already agreed.
Even though I showed a reluctant face as a form of resistance, her cheerful smile blew it away.
“Well, since the ‘Not Going Home Club’ is such a nonsensical club, unless we do something like ‘community service,’ it might not be approved.”
“Oh… Saying something that sounds reasonable to make it sound like a good idea… You’re a bad adult.”
“It’s fine. Adults are supposed to be bad.”
So, today too, I was sent off to work, chased out of the staff room.
As I stepped into the hallway with a small sigh, Kamidama, who had been waiting faithfully, smiled brightly.
“Oh, how did it go? Is the club okay?”
“Well, for now…”
It’s hard to say it’s okay, but it seems like we can establish it…
Looking up at the sky, I thought it was a bit too much to suddenly say we have to do community service from now on.
