Chapter 30
"No need to be embarrassed. All you have to do is be honest. Besides, didn't we talk about it before? If there is any problem, we are going to talk about it. No need to step back; rather, let's just face it, Yanna."
Yanna let go of Vanessa's silence that echoed in their shack. As Vanessa waited, Yanna composed herself and carefully constructed her words.
"This may sound weird and sudden, but I think I'm sick."
"... "
"Vanes?"
"Tell me why you say so and when."
"I don't have any idea when, but my heart beats so fast as if I'm riding a scary roller coaster. And at the same time, my mind is only filled with one person. Is this some kind of heart disease?"
Hearing her words, Vanessa clenched her fist.
'Isn't this a sign that you like the person you are thinking of?' she thought, worried about whom Yanna was talking about.
"Alright, it's not a heart disease," Yanna crossed her legs and had a thoughtful look, touching her chest where her heart is.
"Is it not? This is my first time experiencing this, and it scares me," Yanna's puzzled and worried look was reflected in Vanessa's eyes.
Vanessa wanted to know who the person was, but she was afraid it might be her. She liked Yanna, but she wasn't ready yet.
"Vanes, if what you said is true, then maybe, just like in movies and dramas, I might be in love."
'Wait a minute... When did I become so slow? And why her of all people? No, I can't. Even if it's legal for two girls to be together, since I'm Alpha and she's Omega, but so what? She's... She's the closest friend I ever had. What would she think if she found out?'
Shocked by the realization, her eyes widened, and then she laughed to hide this sudden realization. She couldn't risk the friendship she had with Vanessa.
"What are you laughing about all of a sudden?"
"Nothing, I just realized that I believed in movies and drama again. I remember what you said before, you said don't believe in those things."
"But you said you might be in love."
Vanessa felt a sigh of relief, at the same time disappointed.
"Yes, but now that I think about it carefully, I think I'm just concerned about you, and it makes me think too much."
"So I'm the one you're thinking about?" Vanessa stared into Yanna's eyes, not letting any movements of hers to be missed.
"Yeah," Yanna said, locking her eyes with Vanessa. She felt her heart beat again.
'Who will not fall in love with her? And when did she steal my heart? I like her, I... I really like her, what should I do? this is crazy'. Yanna might be an excellent actress and could fool anyone, but in front of Vanessa, her eyes would always give her away.
Vanessa saw a lot of emotion in Yanna's eyes. She saw how Yanna looked at her intensely but became worried until it was suppressed. In just a few seconds, Yanna managed to hide her emotions well.
"Vanes, let's go to sleep now, okay?" Yanna didn't wait for Vanessa's words and just grabbed her hand.
Vanessa looked at their hands with a complicated feeling. She understood that Yanna might also have feelings for her, but she was worried that Yanna would keep suppressing them.
When they lay down, Vanessa hugged Yanna tightly. She didn't want Yanna to suppress her feelings for her, but she couldn't say anything. She couldn't express her own feelings because, although she loved Yanna, it was still a fact that they didn't know each other well. She was afraid to make a wrong choice under overwhelming emotions.
Yanna didn't say anything and hugged Vanessa back even tighter.
'Just this time, I want to be selfish. After this, I don't know what will happen next. If everything goes according to the book, I'll help her take care of that jerk.'
Time passed, and Yanna saw that Vanessa was already sleeping. She stared at her and imprinted it in her mind. She got a strand of her hair and kissed it lightly. When Yanna noticed a light outside, she knew it was the crew coming.
She sat up, her heart aching at the thought of leaving and the possibility of not seeing each other. She took a deep breath and leaned down, looking at the sleeping face of Vanessa.
"If there's something I would thank God for in this life, it might be you. In just a short time, you make me really happy. Thank you, please don't forget me, Vanessa," she whispered and lightly kissed Vanessa on her lips.
She walked out of the Turtle Shack with her signature smile and met a man with neatly blond hair and brown eyes. Behind him stood the crew.
"Good morning, I'm Oliver Marvin," he said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Yanna Rivera," she replied.
"It seems that you already knew we were coming," Oliver stated.
"Haha, no, sir. How would I know? I just woke up a little early and saw light outside, so I went out. I'm actually surprised," Yanna explained.
"Then you should know that I'm here to replace you today, and you can leave with the crew," Oliver informed her.
"I see, alright," she responded.
"That's it? Won't you say goodbye to Vanessa?" Oliver asked, scrutinizing her with his eyes.
"I'm afraid I might end up crying, so I left a letter for her instead. Please take care of her well," Yanna explained.
"That's it. You don't have to worry about anything. And since I'm taking your place, I've already solved your problem in exchange," Oliver assured.
"What could it be?" Yanna asked curiously.
"You'll know when you get back," Oliver replied.
"Then thank you in advance. farewell sir," Yanna said.
Yanna left the island with the crew, looking at it from a distance. She knew she had to prepare for what comes next.
