Chapter 22
"Don't blame yourself, whatever happens to her before or now, remember it's her choice. Maybe she has other friends and knows what happened to her."
"I... I thought so too *hick*... but every one left her."
Alice calmed down a little and started to think.
"She was left by everyone? Even you?"
Matthew, who heard the story, started to feel sympathetic towards that person.
"That... I... it's just... Yes... at that time, when I was in front of her... I got scared, I... I feel like the person I'm seeing is not the person I knew. After knowing she changed so much, instead of reaching out I distance myself and didn't try which I regretted.
My feelings for her changed too. I thought I don't love her anymore because every time I see her on TV, I feel nothing. I thought maybe my feelings for her were just puppy love, and it's gone."
Alice explained what she felt. She knew she was at fault too, but her emotions took control of her back then. The familiar became unfamiliar to her all of a sudden, and the feeling of disappointment and shock made her feel that Yanna is not the person she used to be.
"You had been with her and knew her, yet just because she changed, you turned away? And the fact that you don't know the reason behind her changes makes me feel... I'm sorry, but I'm disappointed. What kind of person are you? You know she's an orphan, and being an artist is not easy what's more she's pushing to do something she's not good at
Can you imagine the anxiety, pressure, expectations, psychology, and burden on her body altogether? With no one around her, being alone, if I were her, I might end up thinking of suicide or I might just die without waking up with all of that."
Matthew let go of Alice and turned cold. He felt sad and disappointed because if he was that person, with no one around to support him, the person he wants to be friends with turned their back on him when he needed them the most, he would be more discouraged, sadder, and feel empty.
That kind of situation is the most painful. He's an artist; he knew all of that. But unlike that person, he has friends around him, and he has a family to cry to when he needed.
Alice closed her eyes and accepted Matthew's words.
"I know, at that time, I was so immature to understand what was happening to her. Haha, I thought I'm smart enough, but when I look back at that memory, I... I... *hick* I know I'm the worst."
Matthew watched her tears flow down her cheeks again. He wanted to get mad at her, but it's already done. He can see that Alice regrets what she did, but he is still mad.
"Stop crying. What does she have to do with you now? Making you distracted frequently?"
Alice stayed silent, then she held Matthew's wrist tightly. Matthew felt the pressure again and gulped, waiting for her answer.
"It's Yanna."
Matthew's eyes and mouth opened wide. He almost jumped from his seat because of shock, but Alice was holding him.
"What the hell are you talking about?!"
He can't believe it. All this time, he thought Alice was talking about a female omega, but to his surprise, it was an Alpha, and it was Yanna at that.
He looks at Alice, trying to see if she's joking, but she looks back at him full of honesty. He realized his actions, but he can't be blamed.
"She's an Alpha, you do know that, right?"
Matthew tried to calm himself and comprehend the situation.
"Yes, that's why I didn't accept being friends with her. We are both Alphas, although it's acceptable in our society, but the fact that she's an artist and she just sees me as a friend makes it harder for me to come out."
"I see... But you said you don't have any feelings for her, and it's just puppy love?"
"That's what I thought too, but when I saw her again, she was even more beautiful and charming. The timid, gloomy, and scary Yanna that I saw before was gone. And my heart beat faster than before, and that's when I realized I still love her, the Yanna who smiles and is full of positivity. I feel guilty and regret not being with her when she needed it the most, but this time, I will pursue her and won't let her be alone anymore."
Matthew fell into contemplation and now understood why Alice is distracted often.
" She doesn't have any idea that you have feelings for her before?"
"She's denser than dense,"
"Oh... I don't know if I should be happy for you or what, but I think you should make a move. She's been with an omega all this time, and Ms. Rodriguez has her own charm, you know?"
"I know, but Yanna is not the type of person who will fall easily for someone. A lot of omega chased her before, even the most famous beauty in our school chased her. Take note, that beauty excels in everything but is still humble and kind. But Yanna didn't accept her feelings."
"What? Why?"
"Because she was so focused on her studies and had to do part-time jobs that she didn't even have time to think about romance."
"What kind of Alpha is she?"
"Well, that's what she is. If someone wants to be with her and for Yanna to see them, the best thing to do is to say it."
"Are you sure?"
"No, just a guess."
"So you're not confident, huh? So you're thinking about her current situation since you don't know if they're the second team or the last team?"
"Yeah, but I think they're doing just fine."
"You think they are the team winner?"
"Of course, she's a positive person, and Ms. Rodriguez is not a fragile omega. It's not impossible for them to be the second team."
"Hmm... I think it's Sir Kai's team."
"No, it's Yanna's team."
"Heh…"
Matthew just smirked and didn't say anything anymore. He can tell that Yanna's team is the last since he saw how lenient that person is, and Vanessa just goes with the flow without competitiveness.
He can also see that Yanna already considered Alice as her friend, but he can't see them being together.
