Chapter 478 Marvelous Link Up
The match had just entered the sixty-seventh minute now, and so far, Unique FC were still leading the game two goals to nothing.
Ronino FC seemed to have gotten quite tough with their defense but their midfield and attack were still in shambles.
As a result of that, Unique FC were still dominating them in terms of gameplay, getting through their defense was just a bit difficult for them now.
"I think Ronino FC's defense has been trying well enough since the start of the match, their midfield and attack not so much, I expected more from them in this half, but they're still getting canceled out by Unique FC," Jim commented.
"I just think this match isn't for them, Unique FC have just been overly superior so far, and I honestly don't see them coming out of this one unless a miracle happens." Steve articulated.
"Well, miracles happen a lot in the game of football so you haven't completely ruled them out yet."
Ronino FC were able to get their foot on the ball after a while and that was after Mateo sent the ball flying over the bar after a goal attempt from outside the box.
The goalkeeper passed the ball to one of the defenders who quickly sent it rolling to Zen.
The midfielder got his foot on the ball and was just about to turn with it when Ferran quickly closed up on him from behind and stole the ball from him.
He made little contact with him in the process causing him to crash to the floor.
The midfielder quickly raised both of his hands as soon as he hit the floor, but it didn't look like the referee was going to give that as Ferran just kept on moving with the ball.
He had the midfielder from the left quickly heading toward him, but just before he could get to him, he pushed the ball to Henry.
"Henry."
All Henry needed to send the ball rolling to Merino was a touch.
However, his pass seemed to have been a little on the slow part and now it was a race between Merino and the center back in the area to see who was going to get to it first.
It looked like the center back was going to get to it first but just in the nick of time, Merino stretched his right leg to it and pushed it back to Henry with the tip of his boot.
"That's some determination to retain the ball."
As soon as Henry got his foot on the ball, he feigned firing it toward the goalpost before pushing it back to Adolf with a backheel pass.
"Adolf."
Adolf had to quickly send the ball rolling to Minino down the right, and as soon as the midfielder got his foot on the ball, he quickly sent it flying over to the other side toward Mateo.
The winger had players around him as expected so he had to quickly push the ball to Roland with his chest.
"He drops it for Roland."
Roland quickly twisted away from the player on his way to switch to the middle, and now that he had a little bit of space to run down, he made use of it before attempting to lob the ball in so that either Gregory or Henry could get their head to it.
However, one of the opposing players in the box ended up getting his head to the ball and he didn't hesitate in nodding the ball off to the right but maybe he should have nodded it out straight.
"Good defending but the ball falls to Merino."
The winger didn't immediately move with the ball as soon as he got his foot on it until the left back began to close up on him.
As soon as the defender got close enough to him, he quickly pushed the ball a little forward before he feigned sending it in to get him to act up.
The defender reacted just like he wanted but he didn't give him that space needed to send the ball in.
The winger quickly pulled back with the ball, and once the defender followed him, he quickly repeated the process before he pushed the ball a little further and then sent it flying in just before Sandro could get to him.
"He whips it in!"
The ball was sent flying straight toward the far left where Mateo was quickly closing up on with just one player on him.
The winger managed to get to the area just before the ball could get there, and with just a little leap, he was able to get his head on the ball.
"Mateo!"
Everyone was expecting him to go straight for goal, but the winger had something else in mind.
He nodded the ball straight down the middle to someone who understood what he had in mind and quickly began to go down.
The goalkeeper had quickly gone a little to the left as soon as he saw the ball moving there, and that meant the middle didn't have anyone covering it now.
Mateo was aware that the sixteen-year-old striker might get pushed out of the way if he tried to compete for the ball in the air, which was why he decided to send it down.
The young striker went down right on time to connect with the ball and send it straight into the goalpost before the goalkeeper could get to the area.
"Just what was that link up! I thought Mateo was going to go for goal himself but he decided to send it to Gregory and the young striker made no mistake in putting it away!"
The voices of the fans were going up now as the striker quickly got up from the floor and rushed to Mateo who was already waiting for him near the corner area.
As soon as he got to the wing, he quickly sprang up and fell into his arms, his face beaming with smiles.
"They have done it again, It's their third goal of the game and Gregory's second goal of the game, the youngster has been that man with his chances in this game." Steve expressed.
Ronino FC players had devastated looks on their faces while Unique FC players were celebrating in front of their fans.
"Looks like Ronino FC are going to drop to tenth place at the end of this game, they had so much guts in their first meeting this season but this time, Unique FC are showing them why they are the most in-form team so far this season."
"Umm, they're not the most in-form team at the moment, they lost that when they drew against Dynamo FC," Steve interjected.
"Oh, that's right but they have been the most impressive team so far this season in my opinion at least."
"I agree, and I think that's a fact."
'Well, this match has been shocking, this is the first time we're trashing Ronino FC since I joined the team.'
<Well, this is something you should have done in your first meeting with but the finishing in that match was terrible>
'Yeah, that's always a problem but I guess we're doing it now and it looks like it's finally time for coach to start pulling out some players.'
