My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 473 Terrible Childhood Memory

The match against Spree City took quite a lot out of the players but still, they didn't have the time to kick back and take a few days off because their upcoming matches weren't going to be easy.

Their next league match was against Ronino FC, the team that managed to hand them their first draw of the season and then after that, they would face Supreme United who handed them their second draw of the season.

Both of those matches were going to be tough for them so they had to be well-prepared, but things didn't stop there.

After those matches, they would have to travel to the third largest city in France to face off against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa Conference League round of sixteen match.

All of them had already come to the conclusion that that was going to be their toughest so far in the season but they still believed that they could pull through.

Finally, after that match, they would still have to face Dynamo FC in the quarterfinals of the Bilbeth Super Cup.

In conclusion, the upcoming weeks were going to be pretty tough for Unique FC which was why Norman was giving them a day off to properly cool off and relax before they would start preparing for the storm up ahead.

Dave was putting his day off to good use by taking a dive in the swimming pool he almost forgot existed.

"I haven't been in a pool for quite a long while." He remarked after bursting back to the surface from below.

His breathing was a bit fast-paced because he had been down there for quite a while.

"The last time I was in a pool I almost died."

"Huh?" He responded before turning his gaze to Emma who was sitting on the edge of the pool with her legs being the only parts of her body in there.

She was putting on a pair of red bikinis with a thin black shirt, she also had a glass of orange juice in her hand.

"When was that?" Dave asked.

"I was twelve years old and we've just moved to a new place that had this really large pool. I just wanted to see what it would be like to dive in there since I've had a few splashes at the beach before." She had to pause to drop the glass she was holding. "I jumped in thinking it would be easy to just move around in there but it turned out to be really difficult and before I knew it, I started drowning."

Dave had his gaze glued to her the entire time and was even swimming closer to her now.

"What happened then?"

"Well, I would have died because it didn't look like anyone was going to hear my muffled screams, that was what I thought until Mateo came out from nowhere and dived straight in, he was able to get to me just before I lost consciousness." She narrated before weaving in a little chuckle. "My mind knew no peace that night, I was thinking what if no one heard my cry for help or if Mateo heard it and got there but had no idea how to swim? I received the scolding of my life from my father and my mother was just too terrified thinking about what could have been to say anything."

"Wow," Dave muttered before shaking his head.

"Is that your reaction to my story of almost drowning in a pool?" She retorted with a sudden snap.

"No, it's just that I never knew you had a reckless moment as a child and getting scolded by your father, that must be something."

"Yeah, I had a lot of reckless moments as a child, Dave. I got suspended from school once for helping out with a prank on my teacher." She disclosed.

"Say what now?" Dave was aghast as he had his mouth wide open now.

"Yeah, something I'm not proud of." She sighed before slowly turning her gaze away from him.

"What kind of prank was that?"

"You don't want to know." She replied before shaking her head.

"Hmm, I see."

<Well, would you look at that>

"Anyway, back to what we were talking about. Since that day, I've never stepped close to a pool to talk more about jumping in. Mateo offered to teach me a couple of times but I refused, that experience was just too terrifying."

"And still, here you are now, sitting beside a pool with your leg in the water," Dave remarked before slowly swimming closer to her.

"Well, you are here."

"So, you're saying that if I try to teach you, you'll say yes?" He asked before pushing closer to her until he had both of his hands on her thighs now.

"Hell, no." She replied abruptly before shaking her head.

"Hey, come on, it's not that hard, I'll hold your hand so you won't drown." He assured her before grabbing both of her hands.

"But."

"Hey, you know there's no way I'll tell you to do anything that will harm you especially when you still have Devon with you." He reassured her.

She didn't reply immediately as she slowly turned her gaze to her stomach before letting out a sigh.

"Fine, teach me how to swim."

"Great." He chortled before quickly dragging her into the pool.

That scared the hell out of her and she went all out in expressing herself with a scream.

"Hey, you didn't have to drag me in like that." She complained in an attempt to kick him.

"Sorry." He said with a little chuckle.

"That's not how you apologize." She pouted. "Just show me how you keep your body afloat before anything else, I don't trust you at this point."

"Okay, okay, just listen. Keep your body vertical in the water and your head up above the surface. Then, move your arms back and forth horizontally to keep your upper body afloat." He showed her a demonstration as he explained that to her.

"Oh, I see." She muttered in amazement.

"Do you think you can do it now?"

"Yeah, I think so." She replied with a nod. "But if I fail to get it right, don't let me drown."

"Why would I ever let you drown?" He muttered with a little chuckle. "I'm letting go of you now, calmly now." He added before slowly letting go of her hands.

She repeated everything just like he explained to her and showed and before she knew it, she was floating on the surface of the water.

"Woah, this isn't so hard." She chortled.

"See, I told you so, now all you have to do to move around is to apply what you're doing right now in another way."

"Yeah, but you'll still have to explain that to me." She replied before looking down at the water.

"Of course." He replied with a nod. "You know, I heard that swimming has a lot of benefits for pregnant women." He added.

"Yeah, and I can see why." She muttered.
