Chapter 435 The Tweet
"It's all over! Unique FC moves on to the next round with full marks, they have conquered this group as the underdogs, how amazing is that?!"
They had already done their celebration for making it to the next round in the match against Lazio, but still, the feeling of making it out of the group by beating all their opponents twice was pretty great.
Villarreal thought they had a chance coming into this competition because of the group they found themselves in but it turned out that wasn't the case.
A lot of them were on the floor now with devastated looks on their faces and then there were a few Unique FC players who were trying to console them.
Fraser who crashed down right in front of Unique FC's box had Dave sitting right beside him now and Conrad seemed to be talking about something with Fredinho and Gregory, he seemed to be the least sad among all his teammates.
"Looks like Unique FC just joined West Ham United as the only two teams to make it out of the Europa Conference League group stage without losing or drawing a match while West Ham United sets a new record of being the only team to lose all of their group games after losing three goals to two against Lazio." Steve articulated.
"Yeah, but you forget to mention that they've also joined the ranks of the teams to make it out of the group stage conceding the least amount of goals which is just one." Jim expressed.
The voices of the home fans were going higher and higher with cheers.
It had been quite a long time since they'd seen their team dominate a competition like this so it was a great feeling and this group stage performance was going to go down as one of the most notable moments in the club's history even if they get knocked out in the round of sixteen.
"With this very exceptional group stage performance, it wouldn't be wrong to count Unique FC as one of the favorites to win this competition, they beat Lazio who are one of the best teams in Europe based on league performance not once but twice both with clean sheets."
"Yeah, I can see the possibility of them winning it, I wouldn't be surprised," Steve commented.
After that, the two brought their broadcast to an end as it was time for the official match interview.
Dave didn't even have the time to check his system because he was dragged into an interview by his wife before he could do that.
However, Amber was going to be the one asking the questions.
"So, Dave, you guys just crushed this group to get to the next round. I remember there were a lot of people calling this the group of death when it was first revealed mainly because of you guys, how do you feel about that now?"
"Well, I'm not going to lie, I was scared when I first saw all the teams we had in our group, three good teams from Europe's top five leagues, most of our teammates were also scared because assumed that if we were going to make it out of this group it's going to be by the skin of our teeth.
"We were quite worried but we weren't lacking motivation, we believed that we had a chance and we stuck together and fought for it to get here today."
"You guys didn't have a chance, you obliterated the group winning every single game and conceding only one goal, looks like the difficulty wasn't really what you guys expected," Amber commented.
"Yeah, it wasn't really what we expected but I can't say it was easy, our coach worked restlessly day and night and the fans were always here with their high voices to make sure that we had the morale to keep moving, that's what kept moving."
"Okay, and how do you feel about keeping five clean sheets in this group stage? You have a pretty good head start for that golden glove race now."
"Well, I feel pretty good about it, of course. But then again, there's still a lot of matches up ahead and I know what we're going to face from now onward is going to be pretty tough compared to the group stage, unexpected things may happen but I'll try my best to win the award."
After that, she proceeded to ask him a couple more questions before he was finally allowed to go.
He was about to check the stockpiled messages on his system when an arm suddenly hooked around his, he knew who it was just from the touch.
"What now?" He muttered before letting out a sigh.
"Hey, what's with that voice?" Emma questioned before leaning closer to him.
"Nothing, I'm just tired." He replied.
"Okay, just make sure to come home early then." She said before leaning close to give him a peck. "I'll see you later then."
After watching her till she walked her way to Amber, the goalkeeper let out a sigh and continued his walk down the tunnel.
He had to make a stop at the restroom because he needed to be alone while he checked everything his system was shoving down his throat.

'I'm glad this match ended well, it's finally time for that two weeks break.'
<Yeah, you guys sure deserve a good break but I hope you don't grow soft from taking it easy for two weeks>
'Hey, no way, if my honeymoon didn't make me grow soft then nothing can.' He replied before making his way out of the room.
Minino was obviously making a lot of noise when he got to the locker room, and just like always, he ignored him and his group and made his way to his locker beside Mateo's.
He talked about a few things with the winger including their short vacation plans.
Norman came in later to talk to them about a few important issues, and after that, the players had to start heading home.
Dave said goodbye to his teammates in the parking lot before entering his car and closing the door.
He put the key where it should go, and was about to turn it to start the engine when he heard the notification sound from his phone which was lying on the other seat.
Normally, he would have ignored it and just driven home, but for some reason, he had the urge to check what it was.
He picked up his phone and opened it to see that it was a tweet from Twitter and when he opened it, he found a pretty strange tweet title.
'Unique FC's goalkeeper Dave Richards slams group stage opponents for being too weak.' He read subconsciously.
After reading that, he quickly scrolled down to the comments and they were outrageous.
<Well, this looks interesting>
