Chapter 36: Chaos in the city [2]
"All talk aside, what happened to the city to bring it to this state?"
With just those words the atmosphere in the room changed completely, even people could be heard swallowing dry saliva. Everyone turned their gazes to Leon waiting for what kind of reaction he would have because Leon's subordinates had been avoiding this topic.
Leon looked away from the window, staring at Erik who was waiting for some kind of response. This action caused the tension in the air to rise, causing Violet and the others in the room to start sweating, except for Erik who kept his gaze fixed on Leon.
"So, will you answer my question?" Erik asked.
"..."
Adrian, Violet, and Leon's other subordinates were dumbfounded. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing, this man was speaking so disrespectfully to Leon the strongest hunter in the world. Leon doesn't care much about how Erik talks to him though.
However, how is it that he is not able to read the tense atmosphere in the place?
'Is he wishing for death?'
'Can't he see that Leon is not in the mood?'
They were looking at Erik with complicated expressions, they didn't know if he was stupid or very brave, because of the very disrespectful way he was talking.
"Okay. I'll tell you what happened to make the city come to this state" He said. Very different from what everyone expected, Leon acted calmly.
"Hey, really? So much silence and tension for nothing?"
"Seriously, Leon, why did you stay silent for so long?"
Adrian and Irine thought that with all the silence and tension in the place, Leon was going to do something 100%. But they didn't expect this reaction from him.
He ignored what his two subordinates said. Crossing his legs, Leon looked back towards the city with a cold expression on his face, he said, "Well this is all due to the Luminis guild....."
This all started about fifteen minutes after Erik and Violet entered the dungeon. The Luminis guild members were desperately searching for Erik and Violet. But they found no trace of them in the city.
Luminis Guild.
Brrrrr!
Alexander frowned as his phone rang again. His phone was still ringing loudly as if he was pestering its owner to take the call. As he listened to the ringing over and over again, the veins popped out of his forehead.
'Seriously. They won't get tired of calling!'
Because of the chaos, the guild members were causing due to the order he himself had given.
Alexander Belmonte's blood pressure was so high at the moment that he felt the need to go to the hospital right now. The culprit was the barrage of calls that had come in this short period of time. When his phone started ringing again, he thought it was an emergency, but...
"They must be journalists or some presidents of those little guilds."
When all the chaos broke out in the city because of the deaths that the guild members were causing. all these calls are the small price he has to put up with, just to make an attribute to his son. When he felt his phone stop ringing he thought it had stopped ringing. However...
Brrrrrr!
His phone rang again, Alexander frowned more, he looked at his phone and it was an unknown number. Seeing that it was an unknown number he decided to answer the call because he thought the caller was Leon.
- Mr. Alexander, all the preparations have been made.
"I'm sorry Mr. Leon but I have nothing to do with what is happening in the city."
- Mr. Alexander, are you listening to me?
The person who spoke on the phone was one of his subordinates who called to inform him that everything was ready. Making him realize that he was not talking to Leon.
"Cough... cough... can you repeat that I wasn't listening".
- What I said Mr. Alexander, is that all the preparations are finished. We are just waiting for you to give us the order.
A big evil smile was drawn on his face, now everything was ready to turn the city into hell. Alexander took a breath, he said: "Start with the plan".
- Yes sir!
Alexander ended the call with a big smile, this call completely changed the bad mood he had a few moments ago. Getting up from his desk, he went to the rooftop to watch the spectacle that was about to happen.
Standing on top of the rooftop, he lit a cigarette, and exhaled the smoke from the cigarette, while the breeze gently hit his face.
"Now... you will feel what I felt, losing my beloved son" Alexander murmured with a lifeless expression.
Once he finished, muttering those words...
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Several explosions began to sound successively, all over the city, creating a great commotion in the civilians and hunters that were in the streets. Following the explosions, monsters of all kinds began to appear in the city.
"KYAAAAAA!!!! HELP...."
"Kugh..."
"Please somebody help me!"
"RUN! THEY'RE OVERRUNNING THE CITY!!!"
"Mom! Mommy...."
"Call the hunters association fast!!!!"
The city turned into complete chaos, in less than five minutes. With the appearance of the monsters, both normal people and hunters, began to die, staining the streets with their blood, and organs.
And the monsters were having a great feast, with all the hunters and normal people who were running scared, hoping to survive this whole case that was plaguing the city.
Watching as people ran scared, and died at the hands of the monsters. Listening to the sounds of desperate voices echoing in the air a twisted smile appeared on Alexander's lips. "Now you feel all the suffering I went through when I realized my son was dead."
Alexander at this point didn't care about anything that happened to him. He had lost everything that mattered to him, which was his beloved son who was the only thing his wife had left him. But now that his son was no longer in this world, he no longer cared about anything.
'It won't be long before the bastards who killed my son are going to keep her company.'
Spreading his arms in the shape of a cross, Alexander looked up at the sky with a lifeless expression, as drops began to fall from the sky. Alexander, with tears in his eyes, cried out: "Look at my dear son who is in the sky! I made you an attribute with the deaths of thousands of people in this city! You can rest in peace now!"
Black clouds began to gather in the sky as if they were forecasting a strong storm to come. However, not a single drop fell from the clouds. They were being loaded with silver lightning that crackled loudly in the sky, illuminating the city for a moment. And suddenly...
KRACK!!!
A huge silver lightning bolt fell in the middle of the city, alerting all living beings nearby. The lightning also killed all the monsters that were in the center of the city.
Focusing his gaze on where the silver lightning had struck, Alexander was able to visualize that there was not a single monster in the middle of the city. They had all been wiped out by the powerful lightning strike, but...
'A silver lightning bolt...', feeling that lightning had struck before. He just couldn't remember where or when he had seen it. Alexander felt that lightning bolt extremely familiar. Not being able to recognize it he didn't give it a second thought.
Brrrrr!
Feeling his phone ring again, he took the call.
- Sir, it was all a success.
"Yes that I saw was quite a show. And what did you call me for?"
- Sir, we called you to ask what we should do now, that we finished with what you ordered.
"Hmm, come back all to prepare us. As you know not delayed the strongest hunter in the world will come knocking on our door and not in a nice way."
- Yes sir, we will return immediately.
Cutting the call, Alexander just a long sigh. Now came the most complicated and difficult part, which was to face Leon and his group.
"Well, no matter how strong a Lion is, he won't be able to defeat an entire guild" Alexander snorted. Because he was completely sure that Leon was not capable of taking down his entire guild.
Leon is strong?
Of course, he is!
Alexander had no doubt about that. Because it's true, and no one in the world would deny that. But no matter how strong an individual is he will never be able to defeat an entire guild made up entirely of B and C rank hunters.
So he was sure he could defeat Leon. With heavy losses, but that doesn't matter to him, he can recruit new hunters.
However, Alexander did not know how wrong he was with that thought, that he was in short underestimating the strongest hunter today. And that thought would cost him dearly.
Shortly after the lightning struck, Leon appeared accompanied by Irine checking to see if any monsters had managed to survive.
"Really, you couldn't hold back at least a little!"
"But, I held back quite a bit" He replied. Why he really did hold back, if he had used a little more strength he probably would have wiped out much of the middle of the city.
That's how strong Leon was. Not for nothing does he have the title of the strongest hunter, if he wasn't able to do something like this.
"Then, let's go I don't feel anything alive nearby" suggested Leon after expanding his senses.
Irine assisted, seconds later there was no trace of them being in that place a few moments ago.
....
