Su-jeong Noona embraced me.

The location was a park. The time was early evening, not yet completely dark.

People passed by us sporadically, some glancing at us and smiling as they went.

‘Do they think we’re a lovey-dovey couple? If they overheard our conversation, they might think we’re a couple in the middle of a lovers’ quarrel.’

Su-jeong Noona’s question was disconcerting enough to make people mistake us, siblings who grew up together, for something else.

I said I loved her when she asked, and then she questioned the nature of that love.

‘Whether it’s as family or as a Noona, either is fine, but… if it’s neither? What’s the other option?’

It was natural for me to be speechless at the last option.

Su-jeong Noona stroked my cheek, as if checking if I was nervous, and flinched when her warm cheek brushed against her fingertips, shrinking back slightly.

Unlike the disconcerting question, her slightly awkward behavior was a breath of fresh air.

However, I couldn’t fathom the reason behind Noona’s actions since she called me to the park.

‘Knowing Su-jeong Noona, I don’t think she’d do this without a reason.’

Unlike Geum-bi Noona or Hwa-yeon, Su-jeong Noona was always composed, especially when dealing with important matters.

This way of guiding the conversation with a set course to elicit a response was Noona’s way of reprimanding her younger siblings since we were young.

As I put on a determined expression, Su-jeong Noona gulped nervously.

At her look demanding an explanation, I shrugged and continued.

“I heard from Hwa-yeon. That you saw me sleeping in Geum-bi Noona’s room this morning?”

“…Yes. I saw it clearly. With my own eyes.”

“So you were worried, weren’t you? You thought Geum-bi Noona and I were getting closer, so you wondered if I had any other intentions.”

“But you’ve been awkward with Geum-bi Noona lately, and you didn’t want to create another reason to fight, right? So when I contacted you first, you called me out separately to test me.  To see if I had any strange thoughts about you or Geum-bi Noona.”

It wasn’t the first or second time I’d been subjected to this kind of tactic, and I was getting tired of these tests.

Su-jeong Noona nodded, acknowledging her mistake, but as if she still had something to say, she raised a finger and questioned me.

There was no excuse for this, so I confessed honestly.

“I was talking with Geum-bi Noona at night, and the conversation went on for a long time, so we moved to her room.  It was already dawn when we finished, so I just fell asleep there.”

“So you just fell asleep without realizing it?”

“…Geum-bi Noona said it was okay.  And I thought it would be better for Su-jeong Noona to sleep comfortably alone.”
