The Wrong Impression
Shortly after receiving their official Enigma Squadron IDs from Commissioner Watanabe, Daisuke’s squadron, The Wolves of Dawn, left the facility in a rather bitter mood. Shirogane immediately rounds on her leader, plainly quite furious with him.
“Nariki, why did you say those things to them?!”
Yonaguni stands there silently, not uttering a single sound. This annoys Shirogane even further, but before she can start her tirade, Commissioner Watanabe raises a hand to stop her.
“Wait, Tsubaki-shoujo. You’re misunderstanding Nariki-shounen’s actions.”
“Huh?!”, Shirogane says, confused.
“Nariki-shounen said what he did to rally their spirits.”, Commissioner Watanabe expounds. “He understands that by saying such inflammatory things would make them work extra hard to prove them wrong.”
Shirogane thinks for a bit, and then begins to nod slowly.
“I see… I didn’t think of it like that. And while I don’t necessarily agree with those methods, I can understand them. I’m sorry, Nariki, I jumped to conclusions.”
“I didn’t think you were so interested in their safety, Nariki.”, Ninomiya says monotonously.
Nariki smiles pridefully.
“I’m glad that you all finally understood where I was coming from.”
Miyamura, however, can’t help but look on with a fake smile.
(They don’t realise that Nariki actually just said that because that’s what he wants to happen…Commissioner Watanabe just made him look good by chance.)
Of course, Yonaguni would never admit this.
