Chapter 17: C16 - The third entry! Luke defeated in three moves?!
E/d note: Before you read, you need to pay the cookie tax!
E/d: Hey there Takos! In the MTL Chapter 16, Su Che (MTL Version of my Luke) talked about how Tony had been kidnapped and would come back from the kidnapping as a hero. Yet in MTL Chapter 17, Wanda had a reaction that went "That damn Tony Stark died in the desert". Like what the. . . Consistency left the chat guys. ANYWAYS, the direction I'm taking my Wanda is very different from the direction that the MTL took. So, from this point on, consider Wanda an AU of the fanfic MTL Wanda that is an AU of the MCU Wanda. . . What .-.

~ With Wanda, in an unknown HYDRA base in Sokovia ~
[When I first arrived in this world, I had thought that I would not meet any familiar faces until after the nexus events have started. Unexpectedly enough, I had bumped into Virginia Potts on the very first week that I arrived. In my world, I had met Virginia during the celebration party following our victory in the Battle of New York. During the celebration, Tony had gotten drunk enough to slip up a particularly embarrassing secret about Virginia, which was her being nicknamed 'Pepper'. Pepper had not let Tony get that drunk ever since.]
Laying on her bed while reading the diary was none other than Wanda Maximoff. Before receiving the diary, her life had been in a constant grey and turmoil. Her parents had died while she was much too young, and ever since, both herself and her brother were kept locked up in a room, only allowed to leave when they were conducted tests on. Their captors had made it plainly obvious that they were being kept like some sort of lab rats. So, the diary that she was currently holding had been a source of excitement and entertainment for her dull and captive life. In recent days however, the diary had given her much to think about, reflecting on what it meant to avenge her parents and what she was missing to find peace.
[Life wasn't all bad for the both of them. Tony had cleaned up his act in order to prove to Pepper that he could be deserving of her love. That was surprising to all of us, the man who had introduced himself as a "Billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" was willing to show that he was capable and deserving of a committed relationship. And it worked! Tony and Pepper had gotten married during the blip and even had a kid named Morgan. In a time where the world seemed to be lost in the darkness, Morgan was a shining brilliance of light that kept us from completely falling apart.]
"Tsk. . ." Reading the entry, Wanda, who still attributed the death of her parents to Tony, was annoyed and disappointed that Tony was able to live the life of a family man.
"What's got you all annoyed and making a face like that?" The other occupant of the room, Pietro, asked. Wanda looked towards her brother before saying in a matter-of-fact tone, "Tony Stark is still alive, and he will live a happy life in the future."
"And what's wrong with that?" Pietro enquired, instantly regretting opening his mouth when Wanda threw a pillow in his direction. "What's wrong with that? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT? DID YOU FORGET THAT HE'S THE REASON OUR PARENTS DIED?! NOW WE'RE STUCK HERE AND HE'S STILL OUT THERE, FREE!" Wanda screamed at her brother. While it was true that the diary had started making her think about certain things in a different light, it would take more than just a few days for Wanda to suddenly look beyond her past sentiments.
Facing Wanda's scream, Pietro could only look apologetic. He knew what his sister thought of Tony, yet he had his own opinions. Pietro, unlike Wanda, knew the difference between a weapon and its wielder. Both Pietro and Wanda had seen that the explosive that caused the death of their parents belonged to Stark Industries. However, he found it hard to believe that someone like Tony Stark would allow any indiscriminate killing through his own weaponry. After all, he was a known philanthropist, often donating large sums of money to various charities and non-profit organizations.
Seeing Pietro hold his silence, Wanda could feel her emotions acting up further. Deciding not to start a fight, she grunted before turning around and continuing to read the diary.
[It's a pity that Pepper has no clue what's about to happen to Tony. And while his kidnapping was a shock to the whole world, it did have a positive influence onto Tony. He came back a with a new outlook to life, and more importantly, it marked the start to his decorated career as a superhero. He cleaned up his act, his company and tried his best to make amends for his past mistakes.]
Reading this portion of the entry, Wanda furrowed her brows. Her thoughts on Tony's kidnapping and subsequent change known only to herself.
~ With Natasha, in a secure S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse apartment in Los Angeles ~
[Anyways, today I had received a rather welcome surprise! An old friend had showed up unexpectedly. Natalia Alianovna Romanova, better known as Natasha Romanoff or the Black Widow. One of Fury's top agents. For a split second, when I saw her, I had almost walked towards her to give her a hug. Thankfully, I managed to get a hold of myself through sheer dumb luck of April distracting me. However, it was a little odd that she appeared now. From what I remember her telling me, she should still be elsewhere doing missions for Fury instead of in Los Angeles. Was she here to monitor one of S.H.I.E.L.D.S. high value target, Tony Stark? Or was she simply having some mission downtime and decided to take a break and experience the mundane lifestyle? I wish I knew. Parallel worlds are rather tricky. In one instance, one could be in the same exact world where the events are played out almost identically. In others, little details such as these could be different.]
Natasha, who had been reading the entry since the start, was surprised to read that the entry would suddenly be about her.
[I had always seen Natasha as someone special to me. In fact, the first Avenger that I met in my world was Natasha, and now coincidentally, she is the first future Avenger I would meet in this world. Actually, the story of how we met was rather hilarious.]
'Someone special huh?' Natasha pondered. From the way his eyes displayed those hidden emotions, it was clear to Natasha that she had been an important figure to Luke in his original world.
[Both Natasha and I were agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, she was two levels my senior, which I did not know of at the time. I was on a long-term surveillance mission once and had come across Natasha in multiple occasions. Throughout the mission, I had kept noticing Natasha appearing more and more frequently in my mission vicinity. Thinking she was a spy, I had followed her to determine if she would be a mission threat or if it was just coincidences. I guess she had the same thought, because I did not know that she was leading me to an empty room.]
[Walking into the room, I was met with a round kick aimed at my solar plexus. Thinking quickly, I had raised my arm to grab the leg. Unfortunately, the skill difference showed at the time, as when I had grabbed the leg, Natasha had already used the momentum to swing her other leg towards my head. Not wanting to get a concussion, I had to let go of her leg in order to duck low enough for her not to be able to shift her leg and connect the kick. And that was my first and last mistake. As her other leg landed on the floor due to missing my head, Natasha had simultaneously grabbed my neck easily due to how low I had to duck, while also using her leg that I had let go to sweep my feet forward while leaning on me to push my body backwards, causing me to land on my back. Still reeling in the shock, pain, and humiliation, she had already adjusted her position to keep me in a chokehold. And as she asked who I was and who I worked for, my lord and saviour Clint Barton had walked in.]
[I will never forget the deadpan expression and his single line that cleared up the hostilities in the air, "I see you've met one of our rising new recruit, Nat". And that's how we met. Through her kicking my bloody ass in only a few moves…]
Looking at the following entry, Natasha could not help but chuckle. It would seem that once upon a time, Luke was unable to even step to Natasha's level of skill if all she needed was a kick and a single grapple move performed swiftly.
[But on a serious note, she was one of the main reasons why I had become an Avenger.]
- End of Chapter 16 -
Next time in C17 - Life of the Avengers in another world!
'But how? He should be dead by now, frozen in ice-' As if realizing a crucial detail, Fury couldn't help but get even more excited.
E/d note: And that's that on the chapter! So a couple things to note about the chapter. First, apart from what I noted at the start of the chapter, I have deleted a good amount of the MTL passages in MTL Chapter 17 that portrayed Wanda as a jealous lady in love. I have also removed the interaction between Wanda and Pietro from the MTL because the Wanda in my series will be taking a different route and not the "crazy sister who makes no sense route" as portrayed in the MTL. The subsequent changes, well you've read them for yourself how my Wanda reacted and also the new interaction between Wanda and Pietro.
The other part I changed was Natasha's portion. In the MTL, Natasha was all "why am I special when he has a wife". The MTL entry also talked about why Natasha frequently changed jobs, and it was to "relief stress". Which I thought was hilarious but also not really a fitting topic to be touched upon. Instead, what you get is a Natasha with a more mature and rational mindset and a backstory to how Natasha and Luke met in the parallel world.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you've enjoyed the chapter! If you have, maybe, I don't know, give me some cookies (power stones) :D?
