Chapter 70: Chapter 70: I'm Coming, Xu Yourong!
Deep within the Ghost Realm.
"Idiot! Idiot! Jerk…"
Wang Ke'ai, wearing an adorable pink Lolita-style outfit with matching shoes, was kicking Luo Sheng's leg as she mumbled angrily.
"I dressed so beautifully, and you didn't even notice? Hmph~! I'm never dressing up for you again!"
Her puffed-up cheeks and tsundere attitude, especially with her little white tiger teeth peeking out, made her look irresistibly cute.
Luo Sheng, however, remained silent, wearing his combat armor and letting her vent. After all, her kicks didn't hurt him at all. Compliments? Impossible. He wouldn't praise her—ever.
He shook his foot lightly and then said, "Actually, I think you're already beautiful enough. You'd look even better wearing nothing at all. I prefer natural beauty. How about showcasing that in my room next time?"
Of course, if she wore something like "victory lingerie," he wouldn't hesitate to praise her.
"Pervert!"
Wang Ke'ai glared at him, delivered one more forceful kick, and fell silent.
Just then, they heard a commotion up ahead.
Three Card Masters from the armed forces were surrounded and attacked by over a dozen undead creatures.
"These things are so tough to deal with!" said a squad leader, his Spirit Energy visibly on the brink of depletion.
The attackers included not only minotaur-headed and horse-faced ghosts but also a "Reaper Overtime Worker", an advanced version of the "Reaper Intern."
The skeletal reaper wielded a large scythe and carried a thin black magic book on its waist.
While the Reaper Intern dealt purely in physical damage, its advanced form, the Reaper Overtime Worker, gained several additional necromantic spells. These included summoning skeletal warriors and unleashing black flames. Though the flames lacked heat, they rapidly aged anything they touched, eventually causing it to wither and die.
Wang Ke'ai rushed forward without hesitation, tossing two cards: "Praying Cleric - Barbara" and "Kirin Demigod - Ganyu."
The cards transformed into two stunning girls.
Barbara unleashed her Miracle Shine ability, causing a rainbow rain to cascade from the sky. The injured armed forces members visibly recovered their strength and had their wounds healed in mere moments.
"Such a powerful healer!" Luo Sheng remarked enviously.
In contrast, his own Dongfang Muqing card seemed utterly useless.
He couldn't help but think, Look at her healing powers, then look at yours. Shouldn't you reflect on how far behind you are?
Meanwhile, Ganyu, the demigod, began charging her icy arrows as Barbara performed her ultimate.
The icy projectiles shattered above the Reaper Overtime Worker, forming a thick ice sculpture that immobilized it completely. The freezing effect extended to nearby skeletal warriors and other undead creatures, including the minotaur and horse-faced ghosts, rendering them motionless for five seconds.
That's the strength of Ice-element cards—they excel at crowd control.
With the undead immobilized, Luo Sheng summoned Bai Moxue, clearing the area in just two minutes.
Bai Moxue's abilities had a bonus effect against undead, and as the Reaper Overtime Worker only harmed the living, Bai Moxue was a natural counter.
Luo Sheng's rewards included a Bronze Seven-Star Reaper Overtime Worker card, along with three cards each for the minotaur and horse-faced ghosts.
"Thank you," said a young armed forces Card Master in a black uniform.
Wang Ke'ai frowned. "You're all at least Bronze Eight-Star. How did you struggle with such low-level monsters?"
To join the armed forces, a Card Master needed to be at least Bronze Six-Star. Squad leaders were typically Eight-Star or higher.
Many Card Masters who lacked talent for further advancement often chose to join the armed forces, becoming military specialists. Their levels might not be high, but their sheer numbers—three to four thousand Bronze-level Card Masters—made them a force to be reckoned with.
The young Card Master sighed. "There were too many invaders. I was scouting for other missing Card Masters when I encountered overwhelming numbers. My Spirit Energy is almost depleted."
Luo Sheng asked, "What's the situation on the front lines?"
"They've been overrun. Some academy Card Masters have also scattered."
Luo Sheng pulled out his phone and showed a picture of Xu Yourong. "Have you seen her?"
The young man glanced at the photo. "Three hours ago, near the Dimensional Magic Realm, not far from the Ghost Realm. She seemed to be fleeing from invaders."
Three hours ago?
Luo Sheng's eyes lit up. That meant she was close. This mission might actually be doable.
He asked for more details about the location.
Wang Ke'ai eyed him suspiciously. "You're planning to rescue her?"
Luo Sheng nodded. Danger often came with opportunity.
Especially with the Xu family offering such a generous reward—five million credits and Spirit Elixir, valued at over 15 million credits total. That was eight times Luo Sheng's current net worth. One successful mission could change his life, allowing him to purchase powerful cards and strengthen his deck significantly.
It might even allow him to reach the Silver rank early.
"Too dangerous! If you're going, I'm coming with you!" Wang Ke'ai declared firmly.
Luo Sheng shook his head. "You're the Wang family's eldest daughter, and I'm just a commoner. If something happens to you, the Wang family will come after me."
He added, "If you're worried, just lend me a Spirit Recovery card."
"You jerk, always scheming for my cards!"
"How is this scheming? Think of it as a long-term investment," Luo Sheng argued, grinning.
Although Wang Ke'ai wanted to join him, he continued persuading her. "Why not take them back to safety and inform the academy? They can send a larger rescue team. Plus, who knows what kind of monsters we'll encounter deeper in the Ghost Realm—maybe even a long-haired ghost girl. You'd soak your pants again."
He made an exaggerated scared face to tease her.
"You jerk!" Wang Ke'ai pouted, baring her little tiger teeth.
Despite her indignation, she handed him two Bronze Seven-Star Spirit Recovery cards.
"Remember, even if you break a leg, you'd better come back! Otherwise, I'll toss all your things into the trash!"
"No problem, Lady Wang."
Luo Sheng took the cards and was promptly kicked again by the fuming Wang Ke'ai.
With her warm yet fierce demeanor, she truly felt like a small, leaky cotton jacket—endearing and protective.
"Sorry, Jianjia. Wang Ke'ai is just too generous," Luo Sheng muttered under his breath.
He summoned his motorbike, revved the engine, and sped off.
"I'm coming, Xu Yourong!"
