Chapter 8
“We are fashion terrorists.”
“…?!”
At Jiwoo’s declaration, Hyoyoung slowly looked at the four guys, one by one. She didn’t really notice it before, but now that she examined them more closely, she understood what he meant. Her face started to darken.
‘Well, how is it that they can’t even dress themselves? What do they expect me to do?’
When Hyoyoung remained speechless, Hyunsuk explained patiently, “As you know, we don’t have a stylist right now, so we have no one to dress us properly. As we’ve said, we have a live internet show in four hours, and we can’t appear like this. Look at us! We may not know fashion, but we know enough to realize we look terrible.”
Hyojun added, “So… you’re interested in fashion, right? You should work as our temporary stylist.”
Hyoyoung’s eyes widened.
“What? S-s-stylist?”
Hyoyoung was in shock but the four men seemed excited. She continued, “Uhm… guys, y-you are making a m-mistake. You d-don’t get it…”
While she stuttered to explain, Hyojun interrupted her, “No, we get it perfectly. Think about it this way. If we do the live show dressed like this, everyone will recognize us by the end of today, probably on our way home since we will still be dressed the same way. And you know what that means, right? Imagine our home being swarmed by fans. Will you be ok with that?”
Unfortunately, Hyojun’s logic made sense. Hyoyoung imagined what might happen; her house surrounded by hundreds, maybe even thousands of fans including Mikyung. Just the fact that she lived in the same house would make Hyoyoung the enemy of every girl in the country.
‘Gosh… my life would be over. Every girl will want to kill me. Mikyung would be at the head of the mob, trying to get me. I will lose my friend… no, I will lose everything!’
Her imagination went wild, and it was Hyojun again who brought her back to earth.
“Stop imagining yourself to death again, I can see everything on your face. What you are feeling and thinking?! Why is it that you can’t hide anything? You’re impossible.”
Hyojun was being mean, and it was Jiwoo who rescued her from further nagging.
“Hey, Jun, you need to remember that we’re asking Hyoyoung for a favor. Young! Please, please save us! We have already used up 30 minutes of our precious time trying to convince you. In three and a half hours, we have to stand in front of the camera, and we can’t appear dressed like this. You know that, right?”
Jiwoo grabbed her hands and looked at her with tears brimming in his eyes. He looked so sad yet adorable that Hyoyoung had no choice but to nod.
Jiwoo shouted excitedly, “Ok! Let’s go!”
At his signal, Kiwook started to drive.
Hyunsuk murmured quietly, “I guess Hyojun knows his sister very well. He did say she’s very simple and easy to convince.”
Meanwhile, Hyoyoung’s head began to spin with many thoughts.
‘So… wait a minute, that idiot… I mean Black M… He’s Black M, so should I dress him in black?’
“Hey, I’m sick of dressing in black.”
Hyojun told her bluntly, making Hyoyoung jump in surprise. Hyojun continued coldly, “Like I said, I can read your thoughts clearly. It shows on your face.”
Hyojun sounded annoyed, but there was a subtle smile on his lips. Kiwook watched them through the back mirror and said to them, “I am jealous! Unfortunately, I still can’t read Hyoyoung’s thoughts. Hyoyoung, maybe you can read mine! I would love that.”
Under normal circumstances, Hyoyoung would’ve melted at Kiwook’s sweet words. She had always dreamt of being near him. She dreamt of having him say her name.
However, at this moment, Hyoyoung didn’t have the mind to think about Kiwook at all. It was a shame since Kiwook really meant what he said.
Kiwook murmured, “I can see that you haven’t changed at all. Once you get focused on one thing, you forget about everything else.”
He looked at Hyoyoung gently, and watching him, Hyojun raised his voice as if to drown Kiwook’s words.
“It’s just an internet show, so all we need are outfits that match or compliments our masks. We’re going to a clothing store right now and it would be best for you to stay and wait in the car; we will just video chat with you. It would be weird if you came in with us.”
Hyoyoung nodded. She agreed that it would be strange and awkward for her to accompany four guys into a clothing store. They wouldn’t be wearing masks, but they still were very noticeable due to their looks. Right now, she didn’t want to be noticed by anyone.
“Ok. Let’s go.”
Kiwook parked the car in a deserted alley off Rodeo Street in Apgujung.
“What is this? You are going to buy clothes here? Where are we?”
Hyoyoung was expecting to arrive at a regular clothing store, but this looked different. When she asked, Hyunsuk replied quietly, “This is our regular go-to store. The only place that knows our true identities. This is the safest place for us to buy our outfits because there is no one inside the store. It is an automated store. No cashier, no store clerks.”
“Automated store? Such a thing really exists?”
“Yup. You need the pass code to get in and when you leave, you scan the tags and pay with your credit card. Only previously approved customers can enter this store, so it makes sense for you to stay behind, Hyoyoung. Like I said earlier, we will video chat so you can see the clothes and pick them out for us. You need to help us.”
“Oh, alright… I understand. I will stay in the car.”
The four men walked out and entered the store smoothly. It was located at the lower level of the building and the door was painted solid black. There was no sign, so there was no way anyone could even guess that there was a store in the building.
Hyoyoung waited in the car quietly, wondering how she ended up as The M’s stylist. Then suddenly, her cellphone rang.
It was a text message from Mikyung.
-What the hell happened?
She didn’t have to hear Mikyung’s voice to know that she was furious. Hyoyoung sighed deeply when suddenly, her phone rang. It was Hyojun’s video chat.
“Hey, bro. GYAAAA!!!! What the!!”
Hyoyoung screamed when she saw the screen. Through the video chat, she could see the four guys. They were all in their underwear.
