Chapter 515: Chapter 515: Actually, I Don’t Want to Lose Her
After dinner, Qiao Yin prepared to leave.
Lu Lingche gripped her wrist, stopping her: “Stay here tonight, don’t leave.”
Qiao Yin gently removed his hand, calm and composed: “I won’t stay at your house. My grandmother is waiting for me at home. Besides, I have work to do. I have to go.”
Lu Lingche’s face turned cold: “Are you going to see Dongfang Mu again? He provides you with a mere million a year, and you are willing to work your life away for him? Haven’t I already given you fifty million? You don’t need to work so hard for money anymore. If you don’t think fifty million is enough, I’ll give you more.”
But Qiao Yin replied indifferently: “I never interfere in your work or question your overtime. So, I hope, President Lu, you do not point fingers at my job. Regardless of how much I earn, or how hard I work, I am content with my choices.”
“I was too naive before. After marrying you, I quit my job to become a full-time housewife, under your mother’s advice. I thought we could have a happily married life. Instead, I was ridiculed by both of you for avoiding work during our divorce.”
“Lu Lingche, I won’t be fooled again, nor will I give you another chance to mock me.”
Lu Lingche wished he could go back and slap his past self.
How could he have accused Qiao Yin of being lazy and unwilling to work?
Now, she is clearly a workaholic. She runs a clinic, works as an assistant for Dongfang Mu, invests in a private hospital, and even writes their operations plan.
How arrogant was he in the past to think that Qiao Yin was just a trophy wife, who only knew how to enjoy life without bearing hardships?
She endures more than anyone, works harder than everyone.
“Apologize.”
His voice dropped to a low murmur: “I didn’t understand you enough before, I was arrogant. It was all my fault.”
“Just because you didn’t work outside after we married, doesn’t mean you were lazy. The home surveillance footage proves everything. You were always busy taking care of my daily life at home.”
“I misspoke back then, I’ve never thought of you as lazy. You don’t need to take my rash words to heart, and you don’t need to work yourself to the bone to prove anything now.”
Qiao Yin looked at him with a curious gaze, not speaking until after a while: “Lu Lingche, the number of times you’ve apologized to me lately is more than the total number of times over the past five years. What’s wrong? Did you get a new soul? Or is it that you have done too many bad things and a ghost has possessed you?”
Lu Lingche grabbed her hand, pulling her close enough that she was almost against him: “I told you to watch less horror films. Have you not listened at all? I’m not possessed, and I haven’t changed souls. It’s just that-”
It’s just one day he suddenly realized, he didn’t want to lose her.
When he had her, he didn’t think there was anything special about her. They knew each other for five years, and she was always like a shadow in his life, an unnoticed presence, without any ups and downs.
But losing her turned his life upside down.
He then realized that, over the five years, she had become a part of his life, his routine. He could not accept any other woman and couldn’t bear the thought of her choosing another man.
She has become the most special one.
He was too slow to react. The pain of divorce started slow but intensified over time.
Even though she’s by his side now, he still feels the pain because he knows she could leave at any moment.
Perhaps that’s how everyone is; you don’t value what you have until it’s gone, and only then do you realize the true worth of that person.
However, at this moment, Qiao Yin had no energy to dissect Lu Lingche’s emotions. She removed his hand again, walked out of the living room, got into her car, and left.
