Chapter 40: Trying to Survive
While running from danger, Eda looked back to ensure no one had been left behind. The witch woman had been on the move for a while, ever since getting separated from Luz and her friends.
She wasn't alone, as she had Hop Pop and King River with her, and they hoped to find Lilith and anyone else in danger, but they found themselves caught up in trouble themselves.
"Never a dull moment, is there?" Eda asked as she blasted some oncoming robots.
"Alas no, but that is the excitement of it all!" River said as he took down some Coven Guards.
Hop Pop continued running, the old frog looking almost out of breath. "This is more cardio...than I'm used to."
"Come on Hopediah, I know you got more in you than that," Eda encouraged as she took out more of the enemy's forces.
"We must press forward, our friends and allies are depending on us!" River declared.
"Right behind you, River," Eda said as she generated a powerful fire spell to not only separate her and her group from their foes, but to also do a bit of extra damage in the process.
"Good show, Edalyn!" River said. "Come on, we shall find your sister yet!"
"You're one optimistic man," Eda said. "I'm honestly impressed. Given the situation, I expected even someone like you to worry."
"Uh, Eda, are you trying to crush his spirits or something?" Hop Pop asked.
"I'm not trying to, if anything I admire that he's still calm despite the troubles," Eda said.
"Your gesture is not lost on me, Edalyn," River said. "All things considered, I should be worried. My family's Kingdom is in shambles, and I am away from my wife and daughter."
"It ain't easy, is it?" Hop Pop said.
No, it is not. But I trust Moon and Star to take care of themselves until I return," River admitted. "My Moon Pie is a strong woman, and we both raised a brave and determined daughter, one I couldn't be more proud of."
"You should be, Star's a great kid," Eda said. "She stepped up big time when Moon disappeared, and kept that up while she recovered. Most kids that age couldn't handle the pressure, but Star did just fine."
"She had friends to help her, like your little Luz," River said. "So we both know what it's like to be proud parents."
"Well, Luz isn't my daughter, at least not biologically," Eda said. "But, if she were my daughter, I would be one proud mama for sure."
"Some bonds are strong that they surpass blood," Hop Pop said. "Anne may not be my granddaughter by blood, but she feels like one of my kin."
"You do a great job as a single parent already," Eda said. "You're raising both of your grandkids after all."
"If I may ask, what happened to their parents?" River said.
"They're...no longer with us," Hop Pop sadly admitted. "While I was away on a trip, a giant bird known as a heron came to town and preyed on my son and his wife. Sprig and Polly were both so young when it happened too."
"I see, I am quite sorry for your loss," River said.
"At least you were there for Sprig and Polly, and thanks to you, they'll grow up just fine," Eda said. A few thoughts flashed through her mind. "Some days, I wonder how my parents are doing? Thinking about my father gets me a little antsy though."
"Any reason?" River asked.
"An accident happened that was my fault, it resulted in my father getting hurt," Eda placed a hand over her left eye. "It's still not easy to talk about."
"Well if you do wish you get it off your chest, you have friends here who are willing to help," River said. "Unfortunately, I do not have much of a tragic story to share myself. The most tragic thing I've witnessed in my life was the day Moon's mother was killed by Toffee. It shook Mewni down to its core."
"Oh yeah, and that's why she had to take the throne at a young age, right?" Eda asked.
"She was only seventeen," River said.
"Seventeen? Geez," Eda said.
"Yes, most Queens are expected to come of age older, but my Moon Pie was the second to be crowned Queen at such a young age," River explained. "Right after Skywynne Butterfly. Mother of Jushtin and Solaria, and the grandmother of Eclipsa."
"Oh, did she lose her mother too?" Hop Pop asked.
"No, her mother retired to the Butterfly Family Vacation Home inside of a large volcano," River said. "She grew quite bored of the throne you see."
"...So she just dumped the responsibility on her daughter?" Eda asked in disbelief.
"Your wife's family history is full of interesting complications," Hop Pop said.
"Well, yes, you've seen for yourself the drama that came with Eclipsa," River said. "My poor Star no longer feels fit for the throne, she does not consider herself a true Butterfly."
"Given what the Magical High Commission did, I don't blame her," Eda said. "That caused a lot of trouble for us too."
"All those kids had to fight that dangerous monster," Hop Pop said. "The very monster that Belos got his hands on."
"Yes, that is troubling," River said. "Meteora still has the blood of a Butterfly, and access to incredible magic. If Belos, or Andrias for that matter, manage to harvest it, then their rule could last multiple lifetimes."
"We're not letting that happen," Eda said. "We'll put a stop to that duo and save that little girl."
"But that has me wondering something," Hop Pop said. "We we save Meteora, what happens to her? Wasn't she cast out for being half monster?"
"Yes, she was, wasn't she?" River shamefully confirmed. "It is because she was cast out that she became who she was. Such a shame, she did not choose her lineage, it should not have affected who she was as a person."
"So, what will happen to her then?" Eda asked.
"I am not sure, if worse comes to worse, then perhaps Moon and I will take her in and raise Meteora as our own," River said. "It is the least we can do for Eclipsa, after the terrible fate bestowed upon her by emperor Belos."
"Taking her in yourself huh?" Eda replied. "I suppose it's fitting for the Butterfly Royal Family to be the ones to take in a Princess lost in the lineage. Just make sure you raise her as well as you raised Star."
"It would be no trouble," River said. "Hopefully she will not be too lonely."
"Well, she'd have a big sister," Hop Pop said. "And if she needs friends her own age, there's Marco's little sister."
"There, we're already solving the little problems for her," Eda said. "Now let's solve the big problem of kicking the crap out of Andrias and Belos so we can get that girl back."
"Right! With me!" River declared as he and his team ventured forward.
Meanwhile back in Andrias's castle, the team of heroes faced off against the team of villains.
Darcy looked a little winded after her multiverse adventure, but was determined to fight as hard as she could as she kept the Music Box clutched tightly.
Marco looked around, seeing that there were currently no portals open, at least for the time being. "Looks like no one followed us, that's good. There's no added danger."
"For now," Darcy warned. "But those places did look interesting."
"What places?" Andrias asked.
"I'm not sure just yet, but I did meet some interesting people," Darcy said. "With any luck, our army can expand."
"There's no way we're letting that happen!" Sasha warned as she aimed her sword. "I'm bringing you down, here and now!"
"Wow, so aggressive," Darcy taunted. "No wonder Marcy thinks you're a brute."
Sasha merely scowled at the villain as she readied her swords, with her friends by her side.
"Must we fight again?" Belos asked. "Truth be told, I grow tired of these encounters."
"We'll fight you as many times as we need to!" Anne shouted. She charged at Belos with her sword, but the evil Emperor simply backhanded her, sending her flying right into Star.
"I'll get you for that one, Belos!" Luz dashed toward the villainous man, but Andrias blocked her path and kicked the girl right into Hunter.
"We're done with these childish games," Andrias said. "Do us both a favor, and just surrender. Perhaps then we'll go easy on your punishment."
"You're not getting off that easy!" Marco shouted as Sasha stood by his side. "We're not leaving without Marcy!"
"You know, you're all making a lot of decisions for Marcy," Darcy said. "Have you ever thought that many Marcy wants this? That maybe she's happier on our side? We are set to rule the multiverse, all you're doing is pulling her to the losing team."
"Don't even try that with me!" Marco shouted as he lunged in to attack.
Darcy blocked the blow while glaring sinisterly at Marco, "For someone so protective of his girlfriend, you're very willing to fight her. How much do you even love this girl?"
"Bastards!" Marco grabbed the top of Darcy's helmet, "I'll pull this thing off and free her!"
"Guess again!" Darcy hit Marco with an uppercut to stun him long enough for a follow up kick that knocked him back.
"I got this!" Sasha ran in to attack, using her swords to go for the helmet, hoping to cut it off.
"Wow, you're even more violent than Marco," Darcy used her scythe to knock her swords away and aimed the weapon at the girl. "We'll never understand what Marcy sees in you."
Suddenly an abomination grabbed Darcy from behind, courtesy of Amity. "You let your guard down!"
"Heh..." Darcy maneuvered her weapon to cut the head off the abomination and kicked the creature away to land back on her feet. Suddenly the abomination leapt in to attack, to which Marcy sliced it again.
"Do that all you want, it will just keep coming back for more!" Amity declared as she started attacking from all ends with bits of the creature. "It won't be long before you're dealt with!"
"Very persistent!" Darcy said, then found an opening to roll through, landing before Amity before nailing an uppercut to the witch. "But that won't be enough to stop me!"
Meanwhile Anne and Star were attempting to double team Belos, the man using his magic to block and evade the incoming attacks from the sword and racket combo mixed with the magic wand.
"Your moves are becoming quite predictable," Belos said as he knocked the girls away.
Sprig ran over with his slingshot and landed a shot on Belos's head, "Got you!"
"Indeed," Belos said, then whacked Sprig aside. "Very arrogant however."
"How's this for arrogant!?" Maddie threw a fire bomb at Belos, one that he easily whacked away, then dashed in to strike her across the room.
"For a frog to practice witchcraft, I must admit, is commendable," Belos said. "However, your motivations are misguided."
"Laser Chest Beam!" Star blasted Belos with an attack that pierced right through him, leaving a hole in his chest. "Ha! I got him!"
Belos angrily glared back at Star, "Yes, but you'll wish you hadn't!"
In an instant, Belos lunged at Star to strike her down, but Polly leapt on his shoulder and punched him in the eye. "Take that!"
"Gah! You little brat!" Belos grabbed Polly and started to squeeze. "For that, I will make your suffering-"
Anne dashed in with a powerful punch to Belos to stun him, then delivered a strike under his arm to get him to release Polly.
Belos tried striking Anne with his free arm, but she leapt back and allowed Star to blast him again with more of her magic.
"We're so taking this win!" Star boasted.
Meanwhile, Luz ran all around Andrias, leaving glyphs all around the floor to use as makeshift mines while Hunter kept him distracted with the help of his Palisman.
"Is this the best you have!?" Andrias stomped down at Hunter, trying to crush the boy.
"Not on my own!" Hunter said, then leapt toward Luz as she activated some glyphs.
"Taste fire!" Luz blasted the evil King in the face, causing him to stumble onto elements of ice and vines, mixed with some Vine magic that knocked him over.
"Blast it all!" Andrias shouted as he attempted to get back on his feet, though found himself slipping on the ice.
Luz grabbed a few glyphs to merge them all together, "Time for a combo attack! Snowstorm!"
Using a large amount of magic, Luz managed to create a blizzard that blasted Andrias out of the castle, leaving the entire area covered in snow in the process.
"Luz, that was cool..." Amity said as she dusted some snow off. "But it also might have been a bit too much."
"it worked at least," King said. "Come on, let's take down Belos next."
"Did you forget me!?" Darcy tried slicing Amity from behind, but she used her abomination to leap up and over Darcy, landing behind her. "Huh!?'
Amity did a sweep kick that knocked her over, allowing Marco to leap in with the attempt to pull the crown off yet again.
"Come on! We can free Marcy if we work together!" Marco urged.
"You will do no such thing!" As Belos went to attack, Anne leapt in front of him, stopping him in his tracks. "Out of my way!"
"You know, you really piss me off sometimes," Anne powered into her Blue form and punched Andrias out of the castle, the man landing not too far away from Andrias.
"Those kids are annoying," Andrias said as he dusted the snow off of his body.
"They will suffer for that. They will feel the sting of death a thousand times over..." A bemused Belos said as he sat up. "Tell me, how much do you value your castle?"
"Whoa there, I still have a lot of valuable research in there, so I don't want you blowing it up just to kill those kids," Andrias said.
"Ugh, very well then," Belos said as he propelled himself back toward the castle. Once through the hole made, he could see Darcy struggling to avoid the heroic teens.
"Will you back away from me already!?" Darcy shouted as she knocked everyone she could away, and elbowed Marco off of her. She then swiped her scythe and nearly took everyone out, through each of them were quick to evade her attack.
Sasha rushed in and knocked the scythe out of her hands and then slashed Darcy on the sides, causing the girl to stumble back.
"Sasha!" Marco scolded.
"You moron! This is your friend's body!" Darcy shouted. "Are you trying to kill her!?"
"Don't worry, I'm skilled enough not to!" Sasha lunged to attack again as Darcy leapt away in worry.
"You're nuts!" Darcy noticed Belos nearby, then immediately called to him. "Hey, I don't suppose you have any way of stopping these kids, do you!?"
"They're not too troubling for you, are they?" Belos asked in an almost condescending tone.
"Real funny, wise guy!" Darcy shouted.
"Sasha, if you're going to swing your swords, swing them at Belos," Marco suggested.
"Fine by me, but you might need to rough Darcy here up a bit," Sasha said as she focused her attention on Belos. "I am going to obliterate you."
"You are welcome to try, but you may not succeed," Belos warned.
Sasha's eyes glowed red for a quick second before dashing in to strike Belos with her swords, the man quickly blocking the attack, though not without a sense of worry.
"I see you too have some incredible power!" Belos said as he parried Sasha. She immediately bounced back and went for a swipe that Belos barely dodged.
"My word!" Belos continued clashing with Sasha, and despite her tenacity, he managed to knock one of her swords away and then kicked her back. "This ends now!"
Just as he lunged, Anne flew in with her Blue powers again and punched Belos through a door.
"Anne, I had him!" Sasha said.
"Even if you did, I still hate that guy," Anne said as she held her fist out. "I just want to make him suffer myself!"
"Hm...that's actually really cool Anne," Sasha said, then began blushing a bit. "You're really attractive when you're being badass."
"Uh...thanks," Anne awkwardly said. She saw Belos standing again, resulting in her charging in. "Belos!"
"No!" Belos tried to avoid the attack, but Anne doubled fisted charge sent him flying further down the hall with Sasha following.
"Belos!" Darcy went to assist, but Star and Marco stood in front of her, looking ready to attack. "You two really know how to be annoying together, don't you?"
"It's kind of our specialty," Star said.
Nearby Andrias had climbed back on top of the castle, then immediately pulled his sword out. "I'm just about done with you rotten kids!"
"Amity, we got trouble," Luz said as she pulled out a Glyph. "Want some more you phony king!?"
Andrias ran in to attack but both Luz and Amity double teamed him using a combination of Vine and Abomination magic to smack him around.
"Keep it up Amity!" Luz said as she generated some ice to blast Andrias from behind.
"Ugh! That lousy cold!" Andrias lamented as he swung his sword, with Luz barely dodging out of the way.
"Sucks being amphibious, doesn't it?" Luz said. "It makes you sensitive to cold temperatures!"
"Good thing Anne and Marco live in California," Polly commented.
"Pfft, I can handle some cold weather," Andrias said as he slammed his sword down. "Your ice is little more than a nuisance!"
"How about my Abomination!?" Amity used her magic to punch the newt king in the face yet again, then followed up with more blows while Anne generated a powerful Earth spell.
"Take this!" Luz activated her glyphs and generated a powerful stalagmite that punched Andrias across the hall and through a wall.
"Seriously!?" Darcy scolded as she kept her distance from Star's magic. "Come on Andrias, you're better than that!"
"I'm trying!" Andrias shouted.
"Try harder," Aldrich's voice was heard saying. "Don't disappoint me, son!"
"Yikes..." Star said, with everyone else feeling similar sentiment. "And I thought I had family issues."
"Really hoping Belos doesn't haunt me like this," Hunter said.
"You won't live long enough for him to haunt," Darcy said as she aimed her scythe at Hunter. "Earlier I mentioned that traitors have no place in this Kingdom! I will end you just like I ended Ludo!"
"Ludo!?" Star asked. "Wait, you killed him!?"
"After destroying his family home," Darcy said. "They can all rot in hell together!"
"You really are cruel!" Marco said in disgust. "I barely like Ludo, but what did his family have to do with any of this!?"
"We had their home destroyed as a warning to Ludo after he attempted to kidnap Meteora," Darcy explained. "When he continued to resist, we had no choice but to eliminate him."
"He barely put up much of a fight," Andrias said. "Not that he could. In the end, Belos reclaimed proper possession of Meteora, and our plans resumed."
"Where is Meteora!?" Star asked.
"Like we'd tell you," Darcy said. "That girl's part of our empire, and you're not stealing her away from us."
"You stole Meteora away from her mother!" Luz said. "A child being taken away from her mother is cruelty!"
"Oh parents are overrated," Darcy said.
"Tell me about it," Andrias muttered.
Darcy, rather Aldrich seemed to notice Andrias muttering but paid little mind to it. "Sometimes parents just grow to be disappointed in their kids. After all, Mrs. Blight didn't seem too thrilled with her daughter, now did she Amity?"
"Watch yourself!" Amity warmed as she readied her magic.
"Hey, I'm not the one who called you a disappointment, that was all Odaliah," Darcy taunted. "Even mothers can be so cruel, can't they? So tell me, what makes Eclipsa any more suited to care for Meteora than Belos is?"
"Belos is just using Meteora for his own selfish gain!" Luz said. "Eclipsa wasn't selfish!"
"Are we talking about the same Eclipsa that cheated on her husband?" Darcy said. "Resulting in a child as a result of that affair? A child who was subjected to cruelty simply for her heritage? At least Belos is giving her a chance to grow up into the Queen she was destined to be. A right stolen from her by Star Butterfly's true lineage. Who else but Pie Folk would swindle someone out of their rightful belongings?"
Star angrily clenched her fists as she slowly but surely aimed the palm of her hand at Darcy, "Give me one good reason I shouldn't blast you into nothing!?"
"Star!" Marco called in worry.
"Wow, you need a reminder?" Darcy taunted. "You really don't care about Marcy's well being, do you?"
Suddenly Maddie leapt on top of Darcy's head, and tried pulling the crown off herself, "I won't let you disrespect Star, or endanger Marcy!"
"Again with this!? Haven't you realized by now that trying to take this thing off of Marcy is pointless!?" Darcy elbowed Maddie in the face to knock her off, then swung her scythe at the frog as she got knocked back.
"Maddie!" Star ran over to her friend, who was seen holding her sides.
"I'm fine, it's just a scratch," Maddie insisted. The blood seeping through her fingers did not put Star at ease.
"Maddie..." Star pressed down on her wound, hoping to keep it from getting worse. "Marco, we have to get her to a doctor!"
"Or, and here's a thought," Darcy said as she aimed her weapon at Star. "You might need to make it out of here alive first, and I don't really feel like letting that happen."
Marco ran over to attack, to which Darcy tried to swipe at the boy, but his quick reflexes allowed him to duck and stop just short of Darcy.
The possessed girl expected a fight, but instead found her face caressed by the boy. "Marcy...I know you're in there! Please, if you can hear me, then talk to me!"
"Geez you're desperate," Darcy said. "Do you even love this girl that much? If we prod into Marcy's mind, chances are we can find proof that her desire for you was purely physical."
"That's not true! There's love in my heart!" Marco said. "And love in her heart!"
"Please, it doesn't take an army of us to sense the doubt in your voice," Darcy said. "For all we know, you still have feelings for Star Butterfly. That is what's haunting Marcy deep down."
"No, I'm over Star!" Marco turned to the girl. "You're not mad that I said that, are you?"
"No, why would I be?" Star said as she continued tending to Maddie along with King, Sprig and Polly. "That's why we broke that curse."
"Yeah, that's why," Marco said, then focused back on Darcy. "Give me back my girlfriend!"
"You didn't say please," Darcy taunted.
Marco grabbed Darcy by the shirt, angrily looking into the creature's eyes, "I'm not messing around, give me my girlfriend back!"
"You can ask all you want but..." Darcy grabbed her head. "What's...going...?"
"Marcy!?" Marco hopefully asked.
Darcy held her head in pain, "Stupid girl...we told you...gah!"
"Marcy, keep fighting it!" Marco encouraged.
Darcy knocked Marco back as she continued holding her head in pain, "You will...not...resist us!"
"Keep going Marcy!" Marco encouraged.
"Yeah...I'm not letting this happen," Andrais said as he marched toward Marco with his sword out.
"Oh hell no!" Star aimed her palm. "Warnercorn Stampede!"
Andrias withstood the might of Star's power, trying to push through while Star held him back.
"Marco! Hurry and snap Marcy out of it!" Star encouraged.
"I got your back, chica!" Luz fired some magic while Amity attacked with her abomination.
Darcy fell over, screaming out in pain, "I can't...lose control!"
"You better stay where you are!" Andrias called. "There's dozens if not hundreds of you, and only one girl!"
Suddenly Sasha got knocked into the throne room, with Anne following. Belos had returned, the man looking a bit worse for wear. "Good thing that one's power ran out."
"Just for a moment, pal!" Anne said as she stood up. "You're really afraid of this power aren't you? Instead of fighting me like a man, you hid like a coward the first chance you got!"
"In Flipwart, or chess as we also know it, it is the smartest player who wins, not the foolhardy one," Belos said.
"Whatever, I can take you out without my powers!" Anne said as she readied her sword.
"Anne!" Sprig called. "I think Marco's about to snap Marcy out of it!"
"Marcy!?" Anne called.
"Anne!?" Darcy called back, her voice sounding similar to Marcy's.
"Yeah, it's your friend, Anne! Come out for her at least!" Marco encouraged.
"Fool," Belos readied a claw, but Sasha kicked him from the side.
"You're still fighting me!" Sasha clashed with Belos, trying to gain the upper hand.
"Marcy!" Anne ran over to the girl as she continued to struggle, "Mar-Mar, it's me!"
Darcy fell over, panting and breathing hard before looking up at the two. The yellow eyes seemed to fade away for a moment. "Anne? Marco?"
"Marcy!" Marco helped the girl up. "Marcy? Are you alright!?"
"I think so...what's going on?" Marcy asked.
"Long story," Marco grabbed her helmet. "Let's get this ugly thing off you. I really missed your pretty face."
"Marco..." Marcy then grabbed the boy and pulled him into a deep kiss.
"Whoa...I'll give you two some space," Anne said as she took a step back.
"NO!" Andrias kept trying to power through, then felt something jabbing him in the lower back, that being Hunter with a spear he found.
"It's over Andrias!" Hunter shouted.
"You punk!" Andrias shouted as he desperately tried to pull the spear out.
Meanwhile Marcy still had Marco in a deep kiss, the boy having his arms wrapped around his girlfriend before the two finally pulled away.
"You have no idea how long I wanted to do that," Marcy said as she gently caressed Marco's face. "Thank you for this opportunity."
"It's nothing really," Marco said. "Now let's get you-"
Suddenly Marco got kneed in the crotch, the boy falling over in pain as Anne rushed to check on him.
"Marco!" Anne pulled the boy away as Darcy returned through the sound of a maniacal laugh.
"Wow, you actually fell for that!? It's amazing how gullible you can be!" Darcy taunted. "Will that get it through your thick skull? Your girlfriend is all ours, and we're not giving her up!"
"Hey!" Anne got in Darcy's face. "I don't care who you are or how many are in that helmet! So long as Marcy's alive, we're not giving up on her!"
"Wow you're stubborn," Darcy said, then kneed Anne in the stomach before hitting her with an uppercut.
"Hey puta! Don't you do that to my girl!" Luz shouted. She focused away from Andrias and ran over with an Ice Glyph. "I'm gonna cool you off!"
Darcy then pressed a button, to which several robots began entering the room from all sides. "Good luck getting to me."
"Crap, I forgot all about these robots!" Luz stated in frustration.
The robots began firing lasers at the group. Star stopped her attack on Andrias to pick Maddie up, "I'll get you out of here!"
"Dammit, we're so close to ending this!" Amity readied more of her magic. "I'm not missing my chance!"
Unfortunately some robots were still blasting, to which Amity had to focus her attention on them.
"It's over!" Andrias raised his sword and slammed down at Amity, hoping to end her on the spot.
"Amity!" Luz ran over and pulled her out of the way in time. "Whoa, that was close." Luz physically checked on her friend. "You okay there Amity?"
"Yeah...thanks Luz," Amity said with a hint of a blush on her face. This feeling ended when Andrias readied another attack. "Watch out!"
Luz rolled her and Amity out of the way of another sword strike. "We gotta retreat!" She put some glyphs together to generate a smoke screen. "Come on!"
"What about the others!?" Amity asked as they ran out of the room.
"They'll come!" Luz brought her scissors out. "At the first opportunity we're jumping back into Marco's house!"
In the midst of the smoke screen, Star made her way toward the exit with Maddie in her arms. It wasn't easy, but she had to quickly navigate. "I hate retreating."
Unfortunately, a robot stood in her path, but Anne managed to destroy it, "Come on!"
Anne led Star out of the room while Sasha went to help Marco.
"Hey, come on, let's use this smoke screen to end this!" Sasha said. "We can ambush Belos and Andrias! One sword strike through their hearts and-"
"Behind you!" Marco called.
As the smoke cleared, Darcy had her scythe ready to slam down on Sasha. Fortunately she was quick to block the strikes with her swords.
"Don't leave yet, we're not done here!" Darcy said.
"Marco! Run!" Sasha said. "Get the kids and run!"
"Who's a kid?" Polly asked.
"No time!" Marco picked her up as Sprig and King followed, the boy using his sword to cut through any robot that tried to stop him.
Sasha glared at Darcy, feeling waves of disappointment within her, "So...that's it? Marcy doesn't want to come out!?"
"Marcy is forever sealed away," Darcy said. "Trying to contact her is futile. Just give up."
"That's a shame," Sasha said. "That means she will never be with Marco again."
"Hardly a loss," Darcy said.
"That means, he can be with any other girl he wants," Sasha said. "And Marcy can't do a thing about it."
"Well duh, she's a prisoner of ours," Darcy said. "Marco can do whatever he wants in life. He can be with any other girl."
"So it doesn't matter that I slept with him, does it?" Sasha asked.
Darcy furrowed her brow in disgust, "We do not need to know what you do in the privacy of your bedroom."
"Maybe you don't care, but I bet Marcy does," Sasha said as she sinisterly glared at the girl. "She won't care that I got all freaky with him not long after her capture. She won't care that Marco moved on. A boy like him can have any girl he wants to. I may go back for seconds. Or maybe Amity wants some, if she hasn't gotten it already."
"Enough!" Darcy shouted.
"He could choose to be with Anne or Luz," Sasha taunted. "Or maybe he could end up with Higgs, or Hekapoo. Maybe even Maddie wants a taste of Marco. Little frog, big d-"
"Will you knock it off already!?" Darcy shouted, hints of Marcy's voice shining though. "That's not Marco!"
Sasha smirked in satisfaction, "After that multiverse trip, there might be other girls who suit his fancy. I saw the way he was eyeing that Secret Agent girl. He probably wants her in bed as well."
"Enough!" Darcy shouted.
"Or...he could just as well go right back to Star," Sasha said.
"I SAID ENOUGH!" Darcy shouted in a distorted Marcy voice as she punched Sasha hard in the face. "You're so selfish, Sasha! You always take what others have!"
"Wow, is that what you think of me, Mar-Mar?" Sasha asked in a mock hurt tone. "If you're not going to fight hard to be with Marco, then why shouldn't he be with another girl? This is very stressful for him, and I bet each girl he's with just makes him wish it were you. The poor boy is trying to fill a void you left behind. After all, what is sex without the love? At least I'm getting some pleasure out of it."
Darcy continued to struggle, while nearly losing control, The Core continued to overpower Marcy's feelings as it grabbed the Scythe once again. "I'm ending this!"
Just before she could strike, Hunter blocked the attack with his Palisman. "These robots are overtaking the castle, reunite with the others, quick!"
"What about you!?" Sasha asked.
"Just go!" Hunter urged as he pushed Darcy toward the balcony. However the girl managed to switch positions and aggressively shoved the boy off the edge, leaving him to a nasty fall.
Regretfully, Sasha made a run for it, slicing through any robot she could.
Meanwhile Belos and Andrias had gone to intercept the others while they held the two off, along with their robots.
"We need to run!" Amity urged as she fought back. "We're getting outnumbered!"
"I hate to say it, but you're right!" Luz readied her scissors. "Come on!"
Star used her magic to maintain a distance while Luz opened the portal. "Everyone jump in!"
Andrias slammed his sword on the ground hard enough to break it, causing it to collapse. Due to this, both King and Sprig were caught up in the rumbling.
"Weh!?" King looked around in worry.
"That's not good," Sprig said as the floor began to give way. "Anne! Luz!"
Both girls turned around to see the boys falling. Before they could reach out to save them, they completely fell down and into the pit below.
"NOOO!" Polly shouted in fear as her brother and boyfriend fell into the depths.
"King! Sprig!" Luz called in fear.
Anne was at a loss for words, the girl having flashbacks to the time Sasha fell. While Sasha was fine, she didn't know if Sprig or King would be that lucky.
"We gotta go!" Amity helped Luz through the portal while Marco brought Anne along.
At the last second, Sasha had arrived and leapt off a robot onto the other side of Andrias's impromptu pitfall and through the portal before it closed.
"Curses, they got away," Andrias said.
"Yes, but not all of them," Belos commented. "While that demon and his froggy friend were not exactly powerful, their loss may hurt our foes' morale."
"Good point," Andrias said. "No matter, they will fall due to our plans anyway. You have your Day of Unity, I will have my Invasion. Tomorrow, the worlds belong to us!"
"Still, we should inquire with Darcy on what she meant by potential allies," Belos said.
"Oh yeah, good point," Andrias said.
"Someone mention me?" Darcy asked as she came into the room. "Hey, where's Sasha Waybright? And the others?"
"They escaped," Andrias said. "Save for the one they call Sprig."
"And the one they call King," Belos added.
"Eh, better than nothing," Darcy said. "Hunter's been dealt with too."
"Is that so? What a shame," Belos said. "I would have loved to put him in his place myself. Shame, I really thought he would be better than Caleb was."
"Who?" Andrias asked.
Belos contemplated going into detail, before shaking it off, "Never mind. I should return to Meteora. She is my last hope for a proper heir, and I must avoid any mistakes that I made with Hunter."
"Before you go, shall we inquire with Darcy on whom she met?" Andrias said.
"Oh yes, make it quick then," Belos said.
"I'll try to keep it brief," Darcy said. "I ran across the multiverse and spotted some strange things. Superheroes, Secret Agents, even talking rabbits. Among them was some guy called Drakken. He has plans for World Domination himself. I don't know how strong he is, but his ally seems to be very capable, and he has his own army. He may prove to be useful in our plans to conquer the multiverse, and having more allies is always helpful."
"Is he trustworthy?" Belos asked.
"Hard to say, but even he admits that supervillain alliances are risky, so we might have a hard time earning his trust like he will ours," Darcy said.
"This Drakken, I take it he's human, correct?" Andrias asked.
"Yes...I think," Darcy said. "He had blue skin."
"Blue?" Andrias asked. "That's not normal, is it?"
"I doubt it, human skin ranges from light to dark," Belos said.
"Well, maybe it's a multiverse thing," Darcy said. "Still, what do you two make of this?"
"...Perhaps we should meet with this Drakken first," Belos said. "Once I check with Meteora, we shall speak with him."
"Sounds good to me," Andrias said. "Wait, Darcy, can you return there with no problem?"
"The box should take us, and even if there's complications there, the scissors work too," Darcy said.
"Alright, then let's get to it," Andrias said.
Unknown to the villains, Hunter had survived his fall after landing in the moat. He pulled himself out of the water, glaring back at the castle and full of rage. "This isn't over..."
Meanwhile with the other heroes, they had reunited in Marco's backyard, obviously in shorter numbers. Now three more were gone, and it started to get to them.
"Sprig..." Anne wiped some tears from her eyes.
"Hey, he'll be alright," Marco reassured as he hugged Polly close. "Sprig's a tough kid, and creative. Plus, he's not alone, he's got King with him. Together, those two took down General Grime in a fight, and survived dozens a robots. A fall is not going to do them in."
"Yeah, Marco's right," Luz insisted as she tried comforting Anne despite her own worries. "King's survived worse, he'll keep an eye on Sprig."
"Yeah, King being there does make me feel a little better," Anne said. "Of course, I'm also worried about him too."
"I get that, but I think King and Sprig would want us to try and keep going," Luz said. "If we're going to reunite with them, we gotta plan our next move."
"Take it from me Anne," Polly said. "For the sake of my brother and my true love, let's figure out ways we can send Andrias and Belos through the gates of hell."
"Okay, I won't argue with that," Anne said.
"Planning this will not be easy though," Marco said. "If we're going to do this, we need to hit really hard."
"How? They're way too tough," Luz said. "It's almost embarrassing how badly we've been losing to them."
"Our friends keep getting separated too, how are we going to combat that?" Star asked.
"We'll figure something out," Marco said. "I know, probably not the best thing to hear since it's so vague. But right now, it's all I have."
"How about those others from across the universe?" Sasha asked. "Do you think any of them are capable?"
"You mean those kids we saw while traveling?" Anne asked. "Are you sure about that Sasha? We don't want to involve them in our fight."
"Hey, who's to say that Darcy won't try to enlist them herself?" Sasha said. "At the very least, we should check up on them. They just saw some strange multiverse stuff, they're going to be curious."
"But how do we even find them?" Anne asked. "We don't know where they are."
"We're not even sure if they're from this world or an alternate dimension," Amity said. "A lot of it looked like Earth, but who's to say there isn't more than one version of Earth?"
"This multiverse stuff sounds like something out of a comic book," Luz said. "Then again, our life feels like an anime."
"Or a western cartoon trying to be an anime," Marco said.
Sasha raised her eyebrow in confusion, "Uh, why word it that way?"
"It's just how I feel," Marco said.
"Well, regardless of how you word it, we gotta figure out a way to even the odds," Star said. "If any of those kids could help, we need to take that chance."
Marco looked unsure about all of this, "I don't want to drag others into our problems."
"Marco, if this world is invaded, their problems become ours. Plus, like Sasha said, Darcy may go after them," Star pointed out. "You'd be giving them a chance to save themselves. Don't you want that for them?"
"I...guess..." Marco admitted. "Fine, but we're going to need to find them."
"There might be a way," Luz said. "We can use that door, the one where we could see things through the reflections."
"Reflections?" Marco asked.
"Oh yeah, we used it to check on Luz's mom," Anne said. "We saw so many cool things through there."
"Oh yeah, we saw so many amazing things," Sasha glanced at Star. "Like a moon eclipsing a star."
"A moon eclipsing a star?" Star asked, much to the embarrassment of Luz, Anne and Amity. "Sounds neat."
"Ahem...point is that we can see those other kids from that place," Anne said, hoping to move past that one memory.
"If you think it will work, then let's go for it," Marco said. "Do we have a way to access that door?"
Luz searched her pockets, pulling out a vial, "Looks like I still have a bit of the Titan's Blood. Hopefully it's enough. I just need to find a door."
"First thing's first," Star said as she gestured to Maddie. "She needs medical attention."
The group brought Maddie inside and tended to her wounds, stopping the bleeding and leaving her resting comfortably in bed with Angie promising to watch over her, after explaining to her what happened.
Needless to say, she was worried, but she trusted her son regardless.
Afterwards, the group went into the garage to find an old door, to which they set it up outside the house.
"Alright, so you know what to do, Luz?" Marco asked.
"Yeah, we've done this before," Luz said.
"Don't we need a rope?" Sasha asked.
"We'll be fine," Luz said. "Besides, there's no one here to help us."
"Janna's inside," Polly said.
"...I don't think anyone trusts Janna," Marco said, earning a round of confirmation.
"Oh come on, Janna's not even that bad," Star said.
"Star, she's worse than Sasha," Amity said. "She's that bad!"
"...Should I be offended?" Sasha asked.
"Focus!" Marco said as he led everyone through the door.
Once inside, they could see the room in question, an amazing sight for them to behold, especially for those new to this place.
"This is so awesome..." Star said as she stared wide eyed at everything.
"This room looks amazing," Marco said. "Can you really see anything from in here?"
"Like my mom?" Star asked.
"Or Eda?" Luz said as a cube rose up beside her. From within the cube, she could see from a stained glass near Mewni castle. Eda was fighting Belos's forces, and winning. "There she is! Go Eda!"
"Huh?" Eda looked around in confusion. "I could have sworn I heard Luz."
More robots began to attack, to which Eda kept fighting.
"She's doing great!" Luz said. "Wow, with this room, we can find everyone!"
Marco curiously glanced at the cube, "Wait, so all you have to do is say a name?"
"That's usually how it works," Anne said. "Sometimes you need to be specific. Like you can't just say 'mom', 'dad' or 'fake Luz Noceda'."
"Huh?" Marco asked.
"It's how I tried finding the imposter," Luz said. "I found Vee by accident since I said 'Five', which is technically her name."
"So...Jackie Lynn Thomas," Marco said as a cube rose up. He could spot Jackie in her cell while looking at her smart phone.
"This is weird..." Jackie said as she squinted her eyes. "It almost looks like I can see Marco."
Marco placed the cube away, not wanting to complicate things with Jackie. "Alright, I think I have the basic idea."
"So, what about the others?" Sasha asked. "Do we even know any of their names?"
"I know one," Anne spoke out a name. "Molly...crap, I don't think I got her last name."
"Isn't the first name enough?" Sasha asked.
"Gotta think, gotta think...where is she from...?" Anne then suddenly remembered. "Molly from Brighton!"
After a few seconds, a cube began to rise. From the reflection on her window, Anne peaked inside to see Molly McGee in her room while reading a book.
"There she is!" Marco said, then called to her. "Hey! Molly!"
"Molly! This way!" Anne called.
"Huh?" Molly turned around and spotted Anne, Marco and the others. "Whoa!" She ran to her window, squinting her eyes. "Wow, are you all ghosts or something? I bet you're here to haunt me! That's so cool!"
"We're not ghosts, we're real people," Anne said. "This is just magic."
"Oh...makes sense," Molly said. "I remember you from earlier, you came running in front of my house."
"Yeah, some lady named Darcy was coming through here," Anne said. "She's a friend of mine who's possessed."
"By a ghost?" Molly asked.
Anne was about to answer, then began rubbing her chin, "You know what, it technically is a ghost. They're past kings after all."
"That's so cool!" Molly said, then realized what she was saying. "Wait, if she's possessed, that might be bad. Maybe I can talk to Scratch about this?"
"Scratch?" Anne asked.
"He's my friend," Molly said, then called into her room. "Hey Scratch! I think we got ghost problems!"
"What ghost problems?" Scratch asked as he made himself visible.
"Holy shit!" Sasha shouted in disbelief. "Is...is that a real ghost!?"
"Well yeah...also, who are you?" Molly asked.
"And why do I see a witch?" Scratch asked he gestured to Amity.
"You can tell?" Amity asked.
"Of course, we supernatural types know a lot about each other," Scratch said. "I can tell not just from your ears, but your eyes too. They have a slight distinction invisible to the naked eye."
"Huh...neat," Amity said.
"Wow, a real witch!" Molly said. "But wait, I thought you were supposed to be green?"
"That's a stereotype!" Amity said. "And before you ask, we also don't ride brooms!"
"Do you live in a gingerbread house?" Molly asked.
"Why would I live in one!?" Amity asked.
"To feed the youth so they can be fat enough to cook later?" Molly suggested.
Amity's eyes widened in disbelief, "What the hell are they teaching humans about witches!?"
"I hear some like to steal the youth of others," Molly said.
Amity furrowed her brow in annoyance, "Look, we just came to warn you about some danger. Keep an eye out for a Newt named Andrias and a witch named Belos. If that's all, then we're done here."
"Wait! What about your friend!?" Molly asked. "Any chance I can talk to you up close?"
"Maybe later," Marco said. "So long as we know who you are and where you're from, we should be able to find you again."
"Well, just so you know, my full name is Molly McGee," Molly said. "If you need more expertise on possession, I'm your girl."
"That's good to know, thank you Molly," Marco said as he placed the cube away.
"Wow...this is so cool!" Molly said. "I hope I can see them again soon!"
"Meh, I couldn't care less," Scratch admitted.
With that done, Marco pulled out a pad to write something down. "Okay, Molly McGee from Brighton. She's friends with a ghost named Scratch."
"The ghost thing could probably come in handy," Anne said. "Also, I like that girl, she's cute and perky."
"We just need to educate her on witches," Amity said in annoyance. "Freaking Gingerbread House question..."
"Next, Gretel..." Luz said, trying to contact the girl. "Ugh...I don't know enough about her. She just had a hamster."
"Hamster and Gretel?" Marco asked, unknowingly summoning a cube. "Very similar to the tale Molly was alluding to. The one with the witch and the gingerbread house."
"Show me it, I need to see the blasphemy upon witchkind with my own eyes!" Amity said.
"Chill, you'll get that chance but..." Anne gestured to Marco's side. "We got company."
Gretel was in her room playing video games, "Come on, I almost got it."
"You wish..." Hamster said while playing on the other controller.
"Gretel?" Luz said from the screen, startling the girl.
"Yikes!" Gretel dropped her controller, then squinted her eyes. "Wait, aren't you the girl from earlier?"
"Yeah...um, looks like you're outside of your costume," Luz awkwardly said. "Sorry, I guess I know your secret identity."
"It's fine, you're a superhero yourself, I think," Gretel said. "I think I can trust you."
"I suppose that makes sense," Sasha said. "I hope this girl isn't too trusting though."
"Focus," Luz turned to Gretel. "I won't keep you, but just so you know, the world's in danger and-"
"Gretel?" Kevin came into the room, spotting Luz on the TV. "Yikes!"
"Yeah, I said that too," Gretel said.
"No time to stick around, just know this," Luz continued. "This world is in danger."
"An evil King named Andrias could potentially invade," Marco said. "Alongside an evil emperor named Belos. They've got strong robots and witches by their side."
"Witches? Like the ones from the gingerbread houses?" Gretel asked.
"We do NOT live in gingerbread houses!" Amity shouted while getting on screen. "Whatever you heard about us is a myth! I don't fatten humans up to eat them!"
"Oh you definitely want to taste some humans..." Sasha teased, to which Amity began furiously blushing, with Luz, Anne, Star and Marco also feeling awkward.
"I...hate...you..." Amity said while glaring angrily at the girl.
"Well, this turned awkward..." Marco said.
"Wait, what did she mean?" Gretel asked
"Never mind it!" Marco turned to the TV. "Seriously, just be careful. If we can, we'll come see you, or you can come see us."
"Sure, but will you be able to find a way back here?" Gretel asked.
"We'll be fine, so long as we know your name," Luz said.
"I'm Gretel Gomez-Grant," the girl said. "This is my brother Kevin Gomez-Grant and-"
"Gretel, don't be so casual with our private information!" Kevin scolded.
"But they're on our side," Gretel said.
"No, he's right kid," Marco said. "Please be careful."
"What's your name?" Gretel asked.
"Marco Diaz, I'm from Echo Creek in California," The boy explained.
"Whoa...so cool," Gretel said.
"Come on, we gotta warn the others," Anne said.
"Right, catch you two later," Marco said.
"Ahem..." Hamster interjected.
"Sorry, you three," Marco said before placing the cube away.
"Wow...this is not what I expected my day to be like," Kevin said.
"Looks like we have more bad guys to train for," Gretel said. "Fred's gotta believe us now!"
"I hope so," Kevin said. "Still, I am worried about those guys, which means you need to be prepared."
"I got this," Gretel said as she flexed her arm. "Nothing's getting passed me."
Back in the portal room, Marco took a moment to think of a name. "Who else was there? I remember twins in Gravity Falls."
"Same...what were their names though?" Anne asked.
"I think I heard one of them say 'Dipper'," Amity said.
"Right, and the other one was Mabel, I think," Anne said.
"So, Dipper and Mabel from Gravity Falls," Luz said, then saw another mirror rise up. "Hey, I think I got it!"
"Awesome!" Marco ran to the cube to find the twins.
Within the mystery shack, Dipper was reading one of the Journals, trying to find out some information. "I don't see anything about Amphibia or The Boiling Isles. Ford's out right now so I can't ask him directly."
"Grunkle Stan said he'll be back later," Mabel said. "Focus on that later, we should help him repair the shack."
"Let Soos help, I gotta do research," Dipper said.
"Soos! Hurry up!" Stan was heard calling.
"I'm coming, but um...shouldn't you hire someone?" Soon asked.
"Screw that, I'm not spending money when I can do it my-YAH!" A large crash was heard.
"And...he slipped," Wendy was heard saying.
"Good thing those garbage cans full of old, moldy meats broke his fall," Soos said.
Mabel grumbled in worry, then noticed something near the window, "Hey look!"
"Mabel, I'm busy," Dipper looked up. "So can you...huh?"
From the other side, Marco could be seen waving. "Hey, you two!"
"It's Marco!" Mabel said as she waved back. "Welcome back Marco!"
"Wait, how is this possible?" Dipper asked.
"Magic spell, long story," Marco said. "Listen, I just need to remind you that you're in danger."
"Yeah, you mentioned something about Amphibia and The Boiling Isles," Dipper said. "Who are you? How are you able to travel dimensions?"
"I'm just a guy who got caught up in some crazy stuff with my friends here," Marco said.
"Sup, I'm Luz Noceda!" Luz greeted.
"I'm Anne Boonchuy!" Anne said.
"These other girls are Star, Sasha and Amity," Marco explained.
Star took a moment to speak as well, "Listen, we'd love to talk, but this isn't the best place to do so. Later we'll come find you and bring you to us."
"How? Where are you?" Dipper asked.
"Right now, Santa Monica," Marco said. "Well, technically we're in a dimension between worlds, but for the most part, Santa Monica."
"In California?" Mabel asked, earning a nod. "Oh cool! My brother and I are from there!"
"Wait, this is California?" Luz asked.
"Well, no, we're in Gravity Falls, Oregon right now," Mabel said. "But my brother and I are from Piedmont. We're just visiting for now."
"Piedmont? That's practically on the other side of the state," Marco said. "Still, did you say you're currently in Gravity Falls?"
"That's right," Mabel said.
"Maybe we can find it," Marco said. "We'll talk to you later then."
"Wait, what about Bill Cipher?" Dipper asked. "Is he involved?"
"Like I said before kid, I don't know who that is," Marco said. "But if he's dangerous, then later you can share whatever information you can with me."
"I'm holding you to that," Dipper said.
"We'll talk to you later, gotta run," Star said as she disconnected.
Dipper rubbed his chin in worry, "I don't like the sounds of this. Bad enough we have to worry about Bill."
"Well it can work out, maybe we'll be rid of him for good this time?" Mabel said.
"I hope so," Dipper said.
Back in the interdimensional room, Marco called for one more person. "Kim Possible!"
While on her way back from her mission, Kim stumbled across a nearby mirror, one that contained Marco. "Huh?" She turned around and spotted the boy.
"Kim! There you are," Marco said. "We need to talk."
"You again? "Kim walked over to the mirror. "Hey, I need some answers. Who was that girl? Where did you even come from? What does have to do with Drakken and Shego?"
"That girl's name is Darcy, she's my girlfriend who's been possessed by evil, dead, frog kings," Marco explained.
"...Do you want to run that by me again?" Kim asked.
"I know it sounds stupid, but it's the Honest to God truth," Marco said. "Listen, there's some trouble brewing, I need you to be prepared for what's to come. You're clearly a capable fighter, but this could be beyond your expertise."
"Why don't you tell me the danger and let me be the judge of what I can and can't do?" Kim suggested.
"Alright...there's an evil Newt King named Andrias and a witch Emperor named Belos," Marco said. "They're really powerful villains who want to dominatie the multiverse, including Earth."
"So, more megalomaniacs?" Kim asked. "Just another Thursday for me. Still, you are pretty suspicious yourself. Can I trust you?"
"If you can't trust me, I can't make you," Marco said. "You and I don't have to team up, but I figured I could at least tell you what you're up against. Belos and Andrias are not to be underestimated."
"I'll keep that in mind," Kim said.
"I know you don't trust me, but I think you could benefit from teaming with me and my friends," Marco said as he gestured to the girls.
"Sup, I've seen you fight, and you're badass," Sasha said. "Are you single?"
"Uh..." Kim awkwardly looked away. "I'm flattered, but I'm not into girls."
"Hey, life's full of mysteries, and I bet I can change your mind," Sasha said.
"Sasha! Not now!" Marco scolded, then focused on Kim. "It's your call. I'll contact you again later and verify if you want to team up or not. I hope you consider it."
"Well, you seem pretty honest, but I've been doing this long enough to know not to always trust a pretty face," Kim said, winking at the boy.
"Uh..." Marco looked away while blushing. "Right..."
"Heh, sorry, I know I shouldn't, you just mentioned having a girlfriend," Kim said.
"For now," Sasha said.
"Put a lid on it!" Amity scolded.
"Hm? What's with her ears?" Kim asked.
"She's a witch," Marco said.
"Oh...what kind of witch? The ones that steal shoes from little girls?" Kim asked.
"SHOES!?" Amity asked in disbelief, startling everyone present. "What the hell do witches need shoes for!?"
"Magic? "Kim said.
"...I can do magic without shoes!" Amity shouted. "Good God, what's with humans these days? What are they teaching you about my kind!?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Kim said, then focused on the boy. "Look, Marco, if you're serious, meet me in Middleton High School tomorrow."
"Will do," Marco said. "Thank you Kim."
"Sure thing," Kim said as Marco disconnected. The girl scratched her head in wonder. "The world's such an odd place."
As Marco placed the cube away, Anne had something to ask. "Wait, where's Middleton?"
"...Dammit," Marco shook it off. "It's fine, I can figure it out."
"Is that everyone?" Sasha asked.
"The only other place had a dragon, but I don't know enough to go find him," Marco said.
"It looked like he lived in New York, so we can probably ask around there," Sasha said.
"Right...there's also that weird pharmacist and some platypus," Marco said.
"You mean Perry the Platypus?" Anne asked as a cube came up. She could see the platypus from a helicopter glass as he piloted the vehicle.
"There he is, hey Perry!" Luz called.
Perry looked over, raising his eyebrow.
"Hey, you seem to be a secret agent," Marco said. "Would you be interested in saving the world from an evil King and Emperor duo?"
Perry still looked confused, but he offered a thumbs up to Marco.
"Great, thanks for trusting us, we'll see you again soon," Marco said.
Perry saluted as he flew his helicopter back home.
"Wow...that was easy," Marco said.
"Was that all?" Anne asked.
"Almost...I still have one more person to call," Marco said, then focused on the ground. "Brandy Harrington of the Florida Harringtons!"
"Brandy?" Sasha asked. "You better not mean that dog. She's such a diva!"
"I made a promise, and I'm going to keep it," Marco said as the cube began to rise.
In the Amazon, Brandy was seen sighing as she glanced at a reflection in the river, "So close to going home. I know that boy did say he would rescue me, but will he even remember to?"
"Brandy?" Marco said, causing the girl to look around.
"Was that him?" Brandy asked.
"Brandy, down here!" Marco called from the reflection.
"Whoa!" Brandy knelt beside the river. "Wow, are you actually in the water?"
"Long story, it has to do with magic," Marco said. "I'm not sure how much of it you believe."
"I saw a group of people running through portals, and I've been cursed by an evil amulet," Brandy explained. "So yeah, I believe in magic."
"Wow..." Marco said before clearing his throat. "Listen, I'm going to keep my promise to rescue you. But things are going to be dangerous. You don't need to fight; I suspect you're just a regular girl."
"Kind of," Brandy said. "Thought you pick up a thing or two while stuck in a jungle."
"Point is, I just want you to be aware, once you're back with your family, then you need to find someplace safe," Marco said. "Thankfully you're from Florida, I'm going to keep the threat contained in California at the very least, but be warned that things could get worse."
"I can handle danger," Brandy said as she brushed her ear back. "But um, thanks for not forgetting me."
"I'll pick you up tomorrow, stay safe," Marco said. "You're in the Amazon Forest, right?"
"Yeah, I am," Brandy said. "And don't worry, I can handle one more day. Just promise you'll come for me, Marco Diaz."
"I will, I promise. I'll see you tomorrow," Marco said as he disconnected.
Brandy sighed in admiration, "What a man..."
"You talking about me?" Whiskers asked.
"What? No! Get over yourself!" Brandy said in annoyance, before going back to fantasizing about Marco.
With all of that settled, Marco focused back on his friends, "Alright, until then, we need to do a bit of planning. Tomorrow, we're going to meet up with our new allies."
"Sweet, until then, let's warm up," Sasha said. "I'm in the mood for some training."
"We just got back from a fight, I'm going to take a shower," Amity said.
"I call next," Star said.
"Don't worry Sasha, we'll get our chance," Marco said. "Count on it."
"Well, let's hope our enemies don't try to one-up us," Sasha said.
"At this point, I'm almost expecting it," Marco said. "We're just going to fight back despite the odds. Because that's what we do."
Marco's determination was contagious, as the girls seemed ready themselves to take on the world.
Meanwhile Belos and Andrias had just spoken with Drakken and Shego themselves, alongside Darcy, the group having visited their base.
"A big multiversal takeover, huh?" Shego asked.
"Yes, we intend to liberate the worlds from what truly plagues it," Belos said.
"It's going to take some work, but if you help us pull this off, you will be handsomely rewarded," Andrias said.
"Your enemies will be wiped out, "Darcy said. "All you have to do is follow our plans to perfection."
"Hm...very tempting," Drakken said, with Shego listening intently.
"So...do we have a deal then?" Darcy asked.
"Well...so long as the dimensions are properly categorized..." Drakken began. "Perhaps even proper contracts so that-"
"It's a yes, just don't screw up," Shego interrupted in a warning tone toward Darcy.
"Excellent," Darcy said, then turned to her allies. "Boys, prepare for war."
"I shall ready the troops," Andrias said.
"And I shall bring forth the Day of Unity," Belos said.
"Heh...this is going to be fun," Darcy said.
The next day would be a chaotic one, both hero and villain alike.
