Multiversal: The Shop

Chapter 21: Date

Vœ5ê

As obvious as it is, I've started dating her as she requested, more like a demand but my point still stands.

There's no way I could reject a goddess, as her very existence is a threat to my safety, so for now, I'll play with her game because there's nothing I could possibly do to beat her.

Besides I wasn't totally against it anyway, with me in a relationship with her, I could observe her more, and monitor her future movements.

And right now, I'm waiting for her in the plaza since she suggested that we should go on a date on Sunday, which is by the way today.

It's been an hour since I waited for D…wait a minute, is she doing this intentionally? Making me look like an idiot in front of everyone? Knowing her definitely.

As I was about to get annoyed, my previous thought about her playing with me, instantly disappeared as I saw her walking toward my direction with a smile.

I wasn't going to lie, she took my breath for a moment there, and everyone in the plaza also did, usually, she wears casual civilian clothing or her iconic blue tracksuit most of the time, it's probably to make her look unattractive, but failed either way as there's no way she could suppress her natural charms however today was different as she's wearing something that significantly improved her charms not hiding it.

This is the first time I'd seen her wear makeup and accessories, not to mention that virgin killer outfit, I couldn't stop myself from swallowing my saliva.

"Do you like what you see?" I saw her smirk as she saw my reaction.

I wasn't even going to lie and bluntly answered her question. "Yeah, I do."

Lying in front of her is probably pointless anyway, then a pleased expression appeared on her face. "Good, wasting my time with cosmetics was worth it, now shall we start our 'date'?"

.

I nodded and thus our date began, leaving the people from the plaza frozen like a statue.

She's way too beautiful by humanity's standards that's for sure.

From all things, we could have gone to, why the Arcade? It's too cliché at this point, just you know I wasn't the one who planned the date but her.

"Arcade really?" I stared at her with a weary smile.

"Yeah, I've always wanted to try having a date in an arcade, now that I have a chance I decided to take the opportunity," D replied without losing her smile.

Hearing that from her, I couldn't help but blink a couple of times as I heard something ridiculous. "Wait, so you're telling me that this is the first time you've been on a date?"

D stared at me directly into my eyes and said. "Yes, is it that surprising?"

"Honestly, yeah I figured you've at least tried dating at least once," I admitted.

Then I saw her roll her eyes. "Never, I wasn't really interested in dating before, why do you think those idiots from school?"

"Right…" I was unsure what to say at this moment, and wondered if that's the case then, why would she try now?

No, in fact, why me? There's plenty of guys that she could have dated, but why did she specifically me?

"Even if I couldn't read your mind, it's obvious what you're thinking, it's about why you specifically when it could have been anyone else right?" D guessed what I just thought a while ago.

I couldn't help but wonder if she could read minds. No, that's a stupid question for a goddess like her, of course, she could!

Then I saw her frown for a bit and said. "If you're thinking about me reading your mind. Unfortunately, I can't and that is exactly what makes you unique from others, I can't read anything about you, it's like your a blank existence until…your soul suddenly appeared."

My eyes widened for a bit and thought. 'Wait, seriously? I didn't know about being a blank existence until now, maybe it had to do with 'God' and it's probably why Gaia and Alaya didn't notice my existence.'

Now suddenly everything made sense, and my soul suddenly appeared probably because I obtained the shop when I turned 18.

Curiously I asked. "What does my soul look like?"

D hesitated to answer for a moment, before saying. "That's a complicated question, I honestly don't know what exactly your soul is, but the simplest explanation I can give you is that your soul is the most beautiful I've ever seen."

"...Oh, wait, is that what you suddenly wanted to date me?" I realized that and looked at her with an incredulous look.

D smiled and answered. "One of the things, besides I've always liked you most in the entire school, anyway what's up with that scabbard inside you?"

Of course, she knows about the scabbard, it's very much obvious if she can see my soul, then she could see Avalon inside me.

"A defensive item," I replied.

"Hm, anyway we wasted enough time outside, let's go in!" D dragged me inside the arcade, and I didn't resist because it's futile anyway, though looking at this arcade it's the biggest one I've been to.

So I'm curious about what they offered, and we both stepped inside the arcade.

The place was more crowded than I expected, though it wasn't what bothered me. The fact that everyone was looking in our direction was distracting, however, D doesn't seem to care and ignore them entirely.

"Hey, why don't we try that first." D pointed at the shooting game machine.

It looked interesting, so why not? The point of this is to have fun away, that's the purpose of a date. "Sure, why not?"

With that, we went to the machine and started to play the game, both of us used fake guns with our hands and the tutorial started.

For the most part, the game was easy to understand, it wasn't that complicated, and it instructed how to shoot, reload and repair?

Okay, the last one was unique, I haven't played an RPG game that made you repair your gun.

So, level 1 of the game started and it was easy as expected, as it's the first level and all, then level two started and both of us cleared it quite easily.

Thus, level 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 we cleared it with perfect scores, and with such ease, both of us didn't realize that we had gathered quite an audience with our gameplay, because we were so focused on the game that we didn't pay attention to our surroundings.

A half-hour later, we beat the impossible level 10. It was quite hard but, honestly, it wasn't impossible and I was startled when I realized that there's a lot of people who were watching our game.

Then suddenly, an extra level appeared, a level that no one knew existed until now, which was understandable since the requirement to get into this level is to get a perfect score from level 1 to 10.

Unlocking this secret level made everyone excited, there's even people who started recording this because we're making history.

"What?! A secret level like this exists?!"

"I didn't know about this!"

"We can safely assume that no one knew about this level until now." A random person guessed.

I was looking at the D who was smiling at the screen. "I didn't know this level existed."

"You don't?" I was genuinely surprised at that.

D raised her brows in my direction and replied. "What's with that look? Just because I'm a goddess don't assume that I'm omniscient, there's a lot of things I don't know in this universe, including this."

Okay, that's fair, maybe I overestimated her abilities. While she's extremely powerful, she's not omnipotent or omniscient.

"Why do I feel like you're mocking me right now?"

"Just your imagination."

"I don't know…" D stares at my face with a hint of irritation.

Quickly I decided to change the subject real fast. "Anyway, let's focus on the game it's about to start."

"Hmph, fine." D stopped staring at me and shifted her attention back to the game making me sigh in relief, her stare was quite chilling as it's like she saw through me, like all my secrets were exposed in her eyes.

It felt like that, however in reality there's no way she'd be able to see all my secrets, after all the being that sent me into this world is another league compared to D.

Thus, the secret level started and to my surprise, it was extremely hard. It made me wonder what kind of sadistic person made this level?

It was pure torture, I'd died a few times and now I only had one life left, while D has two more, and the game continued I began to realize that this level wasn't meant to be cleared.

D realized this too, however, it certainly didn't stop her from trying to finish this level, and by the way, I died at the secret final boss.

Now, I'm part of the audience watching her as she expertly shoots the boss flawlessly, honestly, it's like watching a bot playing.

A few minutes later, somehow D managed to beat this impossible level and instantly everyone cheered loudly at her success, making me smile at the process.

D looked in my direction and said. "That was fun."

"Indeed it was, though I died halfway through."

"It's not a big deal, it wasn't meant to be cleared by people anyway, only thanks to my skill I beat it without a problem," D admitted. "Anyway, there's still a lot of things I wanted to try in this place, let's try all of them shall we?"

With a slight smile, I answered. "Sure, it's not like I could refuse anyway."

D, however, gave me a smirk. "At least you're aware."

Turns out, I had nothing to worry about on this date, it was quite fun.

A/N: And so, the date continues, though next is the last and would start the plot of So I'm a Spider, So What?

To clarify, no he won't be reincarnated again and certainly wouldn't be part of the plot, starting the plot and joining them is a completely different matter.
