Mountain and Forest Kingdom

Chapter 16 Which company has the best bread technology?

In the early morning, Lawrence woke up and looked out the window. It was already dawn outside.

Sofia was not with her. In addition to a bed, there were wooden tubs for washing, sacks of wheat and oats, and wooden boxes.

Lawrence got up and went out, already smelling the aroma of food in his nose.

As soon as I came out, I saw Sophia and Salil serving food.

When Salil saw Lawrence coming out, she greeted him and said, "Lawrence, we are going to the village today. Will you go with us?"

Lawrence said: "Okay."

Salil had no expectations at first, but after seeing Lawrence agreeing, she asked, "Aren't you going to the mountain anymore?"

Lawrence explained: "We are always busy with things on the mountain, and there is nothing particularly urgent right now. I want to go down the mountain to see if I can change something."

"I still have a few silver coins on me. Andrew said they can't be spent here. I want to give them a try."

Salil nodded, "Okay, your clothes are dirty. Take them off and let me wash them for you. I'll get them for you."

After saying that, Salil went back to her room.

Andrew did not sleep here in the main house. He slept in a hut near the kitchen and sheep pen, mainly because he was worried about livestock problems at night.

Wild animals like to be close to the kitchen and livestock pens, so as a man, Andrew must protect these places first.

This kind of thing can only be done by Andrew. Unless Salil is the only one, Andrew will never let Salil be responsible for this matter.

The night in the mountains is very dark, and it is often difficult to see even one's finger. Once a wild animal sneaks into the area based on its scent, there is no chance to make a fire or light a lamp.

Of course, not all men are responsible for this kind of thing. For example, some families in villages will let the elderly live close to the cooking stoves and livestock sheds.

The elderly wake up easily at night and will know immediately if there is danger.

This is the border of the northern barbarian kingdom. It is a very backward area with no moral constraints.

Whether they are hunting or going out to plunder, they will consume those inferior men. Every war and hunting is a disaster and nightmare for weak and cowardly men.

Lawrence looked at Salil's graceful figure and felt that Salil didn't look like a girl from the mountains at all, more feminine than a girl in the city.

Sofia next to her looked at her master's obsessed eyes and then looked at her breasts with a worried expression.

Sophia has begun to grow, but compared to Salil, she is still a little girl.

Soon after Lawrence sat down, Saryl arrived with new clothes.

A gray sheepskin hat and a linen gown.

Lawrence was about to say thanks when he saw Andrew coming over.

"Hahaha, everyone needs to have a full stomach!" Andrew walked over with a hearty laugh and sat on the main seat.

Lawrence looked at today's breakfast. Except for a few missing eggs, everything else was almost the same as the original breakfast.

Lawrence asked: "Andrew, do you have enough food to eat? Will it be a little nervous if Sophia and I are added?"

Andrew showed a puzzled expression, "Nervous? Does it mean you don't have enough food?"

Some of Lawrence's words are not so easy to understand, but they have similar meanings.

"Yes, if there is not enough food, we have to find a way to collect more food."

Andrew said proudly: "No problem! You can eat with confidence!"

It’s not that Lawrence doesn’t trust Andrew, it’s that Salyl’s performance is more representative of reality.

"Okay." Lawrence agreed with a smile and secretly observed Salil again.

Sariel said nothing and remained silent as always.

But Lawrence naturally discovered that her expression was not so indifferent.

It's not that I'm upset or disgusted, but I have some indescribable worries.

Lawrence ate quietly, thinking: It seems there is still some difficulty, I have to collect more food.

Andrew ate quietly. He talked a lot sometimes, but not all the time, and he didn't laugh all day long.

The room was a little quiet, and the few of them ate much faster without wasting too much time at the dining table.

After eating, he was ready to set off. Andrew placed a bundle of grass blades on the back of the Dom sheep.

Lawrence saw two bags on each of the two Dom sheep, and asked, "What are we going to exchange for these things?"

Andrew heard Lawrence asking and introduced these things.

"It's blackberry straw in here. I know an old fellow who buys these things."

Andrew pointed to the pile of baled hay again, "This is insect repellent. The rich people in the town will buy this insect repellent."

Lawrence felt that this thing might not be easy to sell, "It's almost winter now, does anyone still need this?"

Andrew smiled happily, "You don't know this. If there are bugs moving in your butt, then eating this can pull the bugs out."

"It seems that you are in good health!" Andrew patted Lawrence on the shoulder and showed admiration.

Lawrence felt awkward for a while, "I see, what can I get in exchange for this insect repellent?"

Andrew said: "You can get a bag of wheat in exchange."

Lawrence felt that this was a bit too little. How could such a good thing be exchanged for a bag of wheat?

But it seems to be true, it is impossible to sell at a high price in this poor place, and my business thinking from the Earth Age is of no use in this wild area.

If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. If you really force others to afford it, something will probably happen in this feudal era. There are no laws to protect capital here.

Salil closed the door and came over, holding an empty basket in her hand.

Lawrence asked, "What are you doing with this?"

Sariel tied the basket to the side of the Dom sheep, "After we exchange the herbs for grain, we will go to the mill to make flour."

To beat the dough is to grind the dough.

Andrew asked: "Lawrence, you don't know how to fight with faces?"

"Of course I know." Lawrence said quickly: "I have worked on the manor for three years. Whether it was farming, raising cattle, or pulling a millstone to grind wheat like a donkey, I have done it."

Andrew smiled and said: "Then it's easy. You can harvest less wheat by working hard in the mill. I'll go have a drink later. Lawrence, you, Sariel and Sophia will make dough together."

Lawrence was immediately speechless, thinking that he would still be unable to escape the fate of being a cow and horse.

But I don’t hate it, just think of it as exercise.

"Okay, I hope the millstone here can spin faster."

Andrew asked curiously: "You use a millstone there? We use a stone wheel here, which is pulled back and forth in the wooden groove by hand."

As Andrew spoke, he gestured, giving Lawrence a tool that felt like a tool for crushing herbs.

"Why not use a millstone?" Lawrence wondered.

Andrew explained: "It's too troublesome to find two stones. The village below was only established thirty years ago."

"Alas!" Lawrence sighed. The flour-grinding tool was a little inferior, and his energy was wasted tenfold.

Andrew comforted: "Be happy Lawrence, this is how we all got here."

"Actually, we're not bad here either. Our bread-making skills are definitely better than those of the people in the Southern Kingdom and the city. Even our wine-making skills are ten times better than them!"

"I can guarantee that it is absolutely the case!"

Lawrence asked perfunctorily: "Why are you so sure?"

Andrew smiled, "Because we have contact with ice sea pirates here. The pirates often collect bread, ale and honey and go out to sea to rob. They are more willing to eat bread than the nobles in the city."

Lawrence escaped from the capital of the Kingdom of Luofen. He could not refute Andrew's words because the nobles in the city did not eat white bread every day.

As Andrew said, the people who know the most about bread and beer in this barbaric period are not the nobility and the church, but the group of ice sea pirates who only know about robbery.
