Chapter 49- I feel it’s you~2!
"You need something…?"
Kei was slightly surprised to see Mika approaching him again even though he just ignored her practically some moments ago.
He still tried to remain neutral as he approached the counter and asked the lady for a few things which genuinely surprised Mika. She never thought Kei could eat so many things at once.
"I just… wanted to talk… "
Mika didn't know why in the first place she became so pushy. Indeed she has changed recently but still not to the point where she could be regarded as an enthusiastic extrovert.
Seeing him trying to brush her away, she felt a little sad since when the first time she approached Kei, he didn't behave any differently than he does to everyone.
But she was by no means going to back down. She has to ask him about something which has been troubling Mika for a while.
Kei didn't mind talking with her. It's just, she now attracts a lot of attention which was rather troubling.
"Can we go somewhere else? I can feel gazes on us… "
Kei has accepted society and knows how people treat dark guys like him who have no presence at all. Seeing such a cute girl beside him would undoubtedly be quite disturbing in many senses.
"Okay!"
Kei did think that Mika might agree but the way she almost reflexively replied, made him a little insecure about her safety.
'Well, not like I am her caretaker. '
Kei packed most of the things in his bag and only held a sweet bun in hand. After walking to the entrance of the cafè Kei stopped near the vending machine and bought two drinks.
"Here."
"T-Thank you. How come you know, I like coffee?"
Kei didn't know. He just applied his stereotypical thought process at work and evaluated that every nerd kind of person has a liking for coffee.
But not like he was going to say it, so he just smiled slightly and started walking forward.
Mika stood there perplexedly for a second before she also followed behind.
They left the school building and walked to the backyard where Mika first confessed her love for Ryuuta. There was no other part of the school that wouldn't be populated at this hour.
Taking seats on the wooden log which was carved as resting benches, both of them sat under the shade of a tree.
Mika pondered how to start while circling her finger over the cold can ring as she saw Kei tearing the bun wrapper and biting it slowly.
He then took a small gulp of the coffee and enjoyed his food with his eyes closed in bliss.
She never has seen someone enjoying a bun so immensely before.
"Ummm… Kei-kun."
Kei parted his eyes and turned toward the girl who had been observing him quite intently for a while. He was slightly bothered being seen like this but well.
"Hmm?"
"Thank you for helping me with my family matter."
Kei halted his sip of cold coffee as he heard her gratitude which sounded like she was entirely sure who helped her was Kei. But of course, he wasn't going to admit it.
"I don't know what you talkin' about."
He played it cool since he knew, the way Agent Carl must have handled the matter, there was no way Mika could ever find that Kei was actually behind all this.
But little did he expect what her following words would be.
"I can read people's minds, Kei-kun. And I also know that the person who came to save me that day from my father was Ryuuta-kun."
Kei's hand trembled as his breath got choked in his throat upon hearing her statement.
It was true that he never investigated Mika but he never felt her being a supernatural entity. There was a lot to lose if Mika really can read others' minds then Kei might have…
'No, wait… '
Kei halted his train of thought since he knew Ryuuta's performance could be bad enough to reveal his real identity. Yes, it's just that.
"Good for you then… But trust me, I ain't that person who helped you in any way. I just told Ryuuta about you, that's the best I did for you."
Kei knew she was just stirring things up but he doesn't know the reason why. She could have done this with Ryuuta and maybe could have pricked his interest. But Kei had no interest in such made-up things.
"You must be thinking that I am lying but believe me I am not. I fell for Ryuuta-kun only because he is the purest person I have ever come across. Even though he fights against monsters and… "
Kei snapped as his bun got molded into a round ball inside his clenched fist as he turned toward Mika and said in a domineering tone.
"Look over here."
Mika in a fluster did what he said and turned her eyes to his raised index finger.
Kei's eyes turned red for a moment before he pried into her soul and took a quick survey, which wouldn't make her feel uncomfortable.
"Ah!"
Kei's brows raised as he pulled back his index finger and stared at the girl in astonishment.
"You are an elf huh… "
