Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 37 The Other Side of the Sea

"...So, that's roughly what happened."

Inside the special security organization located in South First District, Tilan recalled and narrated last night's events to the three investigators present.

After listening to her description and comparing it with the information they had gathered, the three investigators could roughly determine the cause and course of the entire incident. They looked at each other and then nodded slightly.

"That will do for today," the sealed door then opened, and Annelli, who had been waiting outside for a long time, immediately hugged the girl and let go only after a few seconds.

"Are you alright?" She glanced at the three investigators.

"Unless there's something else special, she should be fine," the three officials were always cautious in their speech, not giving anything away.

After returning home, Tilan also received more detailed information from Annelli and learned the results of the official investigation.

"Ran Bei'er is a member of the Hodweda Family, which is a special bloodline family registered in the Federation hundreds of years ago. The members of her family have an unusually long lifespan. Ran Bei'er's real age is 324 years old, although she spent 271 years of that in slumber."

"Does that mean what Ran Bei'er said about being immortal is true?" The girl was slightly curious, but she felt there must be a flaw; otherwise, countless organizations would have pursued them long ago.

"Yes, their so-called immortality actually requires a lot of sleep to repair and alleviate, and there's no such thing as 'immortal.'"

"A person will die if killed." Annelli raised a finger and gently swayed it.

"Not being dead just means she's relatively strong and hasn't encountered anyone tougher."

"Their family's record in the Federation is actually quite good; they haven't committed any crimes before and have always been low-profile and honest. So later on, the related organizations gradually ignored their family."

"But this time, she indeed hit a snag," Annelli said, her voice slightly gleeful and cheerful.

"Daring to mess with our Tilan, that's really hateful."

"Alright, alright, it's not all that bad, is it?" The girl shook her head. Although the other party was harsh, she unexpectedly felt no killing intent, which suggested that the other party was sure of a way to make amends.

"So what's happening now? Is Ran Bei'er locked up, what punishment will she receive?"

"I'm not sure about that part; for her, being in prison is just being bored for a few years," Annelli pondered.

"Can you take me to see her?" The girl thought for a moment.

"I can, but does Tilan really want to let her go?" Annelli was curious.

"I have that notion, but I need to confirm it again," Tilan turned her head and thought.

"Logically speaking, since she harbored ill intentions toward me, I should hate her and seek harsh revenge, but lately, I haven't had such thoughts."

"Annelli must not understand, this kind of thinking that defies logic." The girl stood in front of the balcony, lightly shielding her forehead with her arm as she looked out at the bright sky.

"There is a bit." The silver-haired girl stood behind her, looking at the figure of the girl in front.

Tilan was becoming more and more poised, she thought to herself.

"How do I explain this..." the girl pondered with a hint of distress, before slowly starting to speak.

"It's like you had a dream, dreaming of the other side of the sea, where there's a beautiful world with lovely flower seas, your favorite landscapes, and so on, but you are trapped on a tiny island with no boat to cross the vast ocean."

"You want to build a large ship, so you search for materials among the forests, and a thorny tree injures your finger. Although it hurts, you unexpectedly discover that this tree makes excellent material."

"Burning the tree would be a great way to take revenge, but I am no longer a child. I know there are many more things in the world waiting for me to do."

"Some might think this is the helplessness of being an adult, having to constantly compromise, unable to take immediate revenge or relish in resentments. Somehow the word 'forgive' quickly became stigmatized, as if it were clownish."

"The world doesn't revolve around you, others are not obligated to please you in every way, nor are they required to cater to your emotions, etc. Collisions and arguments are inevitable in human interactions."

"While I don't like that others have designs on me, I can understand why this happens and don't get particularly angry or upset. When others flatter me, I don't get carried away with joy for long."

"If I were to take fierce revenge for every small thing, it would seem somewhat childish. Time and energy are so precious, and with hugely important matters awaiting me ahead, it feels unreasonable to demand everything in life goes my way, that others must be kind to me, etc. It's like preparing for a run but setting up obstacle after obstacle for myself beforehand."

"I don't want to create so many barriers for myself. Although Ran Bei'er does harbor some ill intentions, she's not that bad, and I feel I can forgive her, so I want to forgive her. I refuse to let so-called principles or restrictions bind me."

"And now, I've seen that world on the other shore, I want to cross the ocean, and I've found the right tree to build my boat, and I can bear the cost of shedding a little blood," she finished, turning her head to look at Annelli.

"With that said, you should understand my thoughts now," she added.

"Yes, yes," Annelli nodded her head, her admiration for Tilan rising once again.

She felt that something was different.

Although Tilan was the one who spoke these words, it was through explaining to Annelli that she slowly clarified the source of her own thoughts and ideas.

Humans are strange creatures indeed. Even the same event can yield different answers depending on the age and environment in which it's encountered.

If it had been her a year ago, she probably would have been very afraid of someone like Ran Bei'er and kept her distance in the future. But now, she felt that it was just a minor episode in life and the other's actions were not so evil.

After seeing enough demons and ghouls, then looking at a little animal barring its teeth by the side of the road might seem cute. After all, one's mentality changes.

In the context of the entire Federation, the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain is a small and remote place. The Rose Federation is not the entirety of the Milky Way, and even the Milky Way is just a tiny part of the universe. Human civilization, like a meteor streak across the night sky, is but a moment in the cosmic scheme of things.

Every time she dreamed of the eras and landscapes experienced by previous Color Level Songstresses, she felt even more aware of her insignificance, which in turn became a driving force, constantly pushing her forward.

She was no longer a child. She would not be overjoyed for hours just because of a piece of candy, nor would she fear going to school because of a fight with a classmate.

Time robs us of the pure joys of innocence but allows some people to gain a serene and peaceful understanding of the world.

Now, she wanted to see the scenery on the other side of the sea.
