Chapter 32 Solving Challenges_3
And so it was that after she slowly elaborated the reasons for her approach in meticulous detail, time had unknowingly advanced to 1 p.m.
"...that's all I can think of," she concluded, shaking her head. She picked up her cup and took a sip of her drink to moisten her throat, only then noticing the unusual silence in the restaurant.
She had been so engrossed in her thoughts and explanations that only now did she realize such quietness was strange. Raising her gaze, she looked around.
A pair of eyes in the restaurant were focused on the black-haired girl by the window, admiring her intelligent and detailed analysis against the backdrop of the blue sky and white clouds, her keen awareness and consideration for everyone's feelings, and her beautiful, fair face and figure that reminded them of flowers in the summer breeze.
"So impressive."
"Worthy of being Tilan indeed."
"I feel like an idiot for not having thought of all this."
"Really thorough indeed, to think things through so quickly without making mistakes is truly remarkable."
"I reckon Kinsenke is bound to lose face today. With Deloris covering for her, he wouldn't dare to do anything to Tilan. Moreover, if she really manages to resolve the car explosion issue, he'll probably have to thank her. Otherwise, it would be awkward for him to explain if someone asked."
"Haha, it's quite satisfying indeed."
The noise in the restaurant picked up again just as Kinsenke set down his large drinking glass, which was almost empty save for the little sailboat that continued to bob gently within it.
"What a fine scenery it is today," he commented, looking through the transparent window toward the blue sky before standing up.
He nodded slightly to the two young girls, a hint of a smile on the face of this presumptuous young man, and then he turned and left.
"The bill, put theirs on my tab."
Wearing flip-flops and accompanied by a group of people, he headed towards the elevator, and before entering, he flicked out a thin metallic card.
The deep red metallic card sparkled as it arced through the air, then landed on the table in front of Tilan and Deloris. It spun on the glass tabletop for several seconds before finally coming to rest, lying quietly in the light.
"Kinsenke's personal business card," said Deloris, looking at it and knowing it was meant for Tilan.
"With this, you can get complimentary services at any 'Hot Lizard Power' outlet. If you're doing business with 'Hot Lizard Power', you're also entitled to the maximum discount. It's not of much significance to me, but Tilan might as well keep it for now."
"This matter probably isn't over yet. If 'Hot Lizard Power' resolves everything perfectly this time, they'd certainly have to thank you for your advice. You could ask Kinsenke for a few luxury cars, and he'd give them to you without blinking an eye."
"I rarely use cars. Besides, forget about luxury cars; they're too conspicuous." The girl was slightly helpless but still accepted the card at Deloris's suggestion.
The incident that took place at the Sky Restaurant that afternoon quickly spread across Edith Academy, and to the excitement and anticipation of many, 'Hot Lizard Power's' official channel released the video of the previous night's crash into the bridge. The accompanying statement highlighted that even in such a severe accident, the driver had survived.
Not only that, as if to prove the robustness of their products, the live broadcast showed hover cars crashing into designated buildings, being torn apart, bursting into flames, and yet in every crash, the dummy inside was preserved to the greatest extent possible—not without injuries, but not fatally so.
The heated clicks and discussions on various forums ensued while the original video of the previous night's race was gradually buried and eventually disappeared, with no one discussing it anymore.
Riding on this wave of popularity, 'Hot Lizard Power's' stock price rose steadily over the following week, astounding many and prompting remarks about their misfortune turning into a blessing. This analysis, however, is for later. As for the girl who proposed the solution, the outside world knew little about her; her story circulated mainly within the Academy, a silent testament to the protective discretion of Edith Academy and the Star Domain Federal Government.
