"Sensei I don't think this is going to work," Kenji voiced his opinion as Uraraka pressed her finger tips together with a look of intense concentration across her face. 

"Perhaps I overestimated the effectiveness of your hidden ability," Aizawa muttered, finally admitting that he couldn't forcefully trigger the supposed catalyzing property of Kenji's quirk. 

Kenji let out a relieved sigh, 'It only took the entire day but I finally convinced him.' 

"You can stop now Uraraka," Kenji called out and a second later Kenji felt the space around him returned to normal as Uraraka stopped using her quirk to try and levitate him into the air. 

"I-is it over?" Uraraka asked with an exhausted look in her eyes and Kenji couldn't blame her. Aizawa had run the both of them ragged, sometimes forcing them against each other while other times having Kenji and Uraraka work in tandem. 

Even though Kenji wasn't a mind reader he had a pretty good idea about what was going on in Aizawa's head, 'He thinks that if Uraraka's quirk has enough interaction with mine it will somehow magically evolve.' 

Kenji couldn't help but shake his head at the thought, 'I don't know why everyone thinks I'm some sort of quirk generator. If only I could explain that my soul is bonded to the nonexistent plane between reality and nothingness that's occupied by a horrible possible world devouring eldritch monsters.' 

[Would now be a good time to say that your teacher is on the right path?]

Kenji froze as Zurx's voice echoed inside his head with an amused tone that wasn't all calming knowing the true form of the entity, 'What are you talking about?' 

"Kenji are you alright?" Uraraka asked and Kenji quickly wiped off whatever expression was on his face, "Huh…oh yeah I'm fine. Guess I'm just tired. That's all, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night."

"Well Aizawa-Sensei said we're done for the day so don't feel like you have to stay around for my sake." 

Kenji blinked looking around to find that Aizawa was gone, having vanished into thin air practically the moment Kenji took his eyes off the man, "Oh, alright then see you tomorrow Uraraka." 

"Bye Kenji!" 

Walking out of the training hall with more than a little urgency in his step Kenji waited until he was somewhere quiet before addressing the eldritch horror in the room, 'What do you mean when you said Aizawa-Sensei is on the right path?!'

[I meant exactly what it sounds like, his theory about you speeding up the process of quirk evolution isn't wrong but it lacks a certain nuance.] 

'Well would you care to fill in the blanks?' 

[If I did you would have to comprehend several universal truths, which would cause your mortal mind and body to implode while severely damaging your soul] 

'Then dumb it down for me so my head doesn't implode, If even a fraction of what Aizawa said was true I could be in some serious danger if word gets out and I don't like stumbling around blind.' 

[Hmm I suppose you have a point…alright then I'll explain but you'll owe me one] 

'...Fuck it I already made a deal with the devil. Start explaining.' 

[Excellent, first off, do you remember how I said your quirk was fundamentally different from the rest?] 

Kenji nodded his head as he started to walk around aimlessly trying to appear as if he wasn't talking to an ancient being inside his head, 'Yeah you said that instead of using alpha particles to grow stronger I needed to attune myself with the abyss or something like that.' 

[That is not entirely correct, in order to attune yourself with my home realm you need alpha particles to strengthen your soul] 

'My soul?' 

[Yes, your soul is what enables you to channel the power of the abyss. It connects the mortal body to the eternal universe and the laws that bind it. What this world calls alpha particles are in reality highly diluted sources of universal laws] 

'So when someone takes an alpha capsule they're eating the universe?' 

[No, the correct analogy would be that their connection to the universe is strengthening. Normally there is a barrier between the soul and the eternal, but in this world that barrier is practically a sheet of paper compared to everywhere else] 

'So in order for someone to evolve their quirk they have to temporarily break through that sheet of paper?' 

[Yes, I believe the process starts at birth. When a soul arrives in this world the barrier is broken allowing some universal laws to transfer over with the soul. Those transferred laws are then awakened after sometime and manifested in this world as quirks. Using quirks is essentially bending the rules of the universe and eventually those rules break allowing the user to gleam even more laws from the universe creating the phenomena you know as evolution] 

'But over time the barrier becomes harder and harder to break through, which is why each evolution is more and more difficult to achieve.' 

[Correct again, now that you have a decent understand of the forces at play we can discuss why your presence makes a difference] 

'Wait…you said that quirks are universal laws attached to the soul when they are born into this world….but you aren't a quirk are you?' 

[No I am not, as a reincarnator your soul had to be suspended in a realm beyond the laws of life and death that exist inside the universe] 

'The abyss that's where I met lucifer…and when he reincarnated me instead of a universal law attaching to my soul…you did.' 

[Very well done…I was afraid I would have to spell it out for you.] 

'So essentially you're a dimensional soul parasite that used me as a free ride to reach into the universe.' 

[I prefer the term symbiote, but yes. The abyss and the universe exist in the same space but are never supposed to overlap. Which is why when you use your 'quirk' it fundamentally starts to bend the universe weakening the barrier and allowing those in close proximity to have a much higher chance of breaking through] 

'So then why do alpha particles have an effect on me at all?' 

[They don't, they have an effect on me, when universal laws interact with the Abyss they become undone creating a source of unshaped potential. Consuming this potential is the ultimate goal of beings such as myself, allowing us to evolve and grow in a realm that is at its core a static nothingness.] 

Kenji fell silent for a moment as he stopped in his tracks to process everything Zurx had just revealed, 'I have to admit eating the building blocks of reality sounds pretty evil to me.' 

[I can not deny my nature, besides when I say the universe is eternal I mean eternal. Just as the abyss has no end, the universe has no beginning. Even if I was to feast for all of time I would have no more of an impact than taking a single speck of dust from a planet.] 

'Pretty powerful metaphor paints a nice picture about how insignificant we all are.' 

[Indeed] 

Kenji let out a long sigh, 'Okay I think that's enough talking about the fabric of reality for one day.' 

[I agree, but our business has yet to be concluded]

Kenji frowned, 'What are you talking about?' 

[I wish to cash in on my favor] 

'Already?' 

[Yes and for my favor I wish…to consume the system implanted in your soul]
