MHA: Mewtwo

Chapter 4: IV: Recovery.

The first five months after Raiden woke up were the hardest for him. He had never imagined putting so much effort into something as simple as walking.

Each therapy session felt like an endless battle as if his body refused to obey his commands. It wasn't until two months into therapy that Raiden was able to start walking with the aid of a cane to support his weakened frame. Only then was he finally discharged from the hospital.

Three months later, he could walk "normally" again without assistance.

While undergoing physical therapy, Raiden also worked hard to catch up on his studies from the hospital. His teachers provided materials, and he used his free time to stay on track academically.

After being discharged, Raiden chose not to return to school just yet. Instead, he continued his education from home, focusing on his recovery while keeping up with his classes. His friend Emi frequently visited him, bringing schoolwork, stories from their classmates, and an unwavering optimism that kept his spirits high. Meanwhile, Raiden's psychological treatment progressed well.

The psychological sessions helped him process the traumatic events and the overwhelming changes in his life. Slowly but steadily, he was piecing himself back together emotionally as well as physically, thanks to his therapy the boy also started to slowly comprehend more about himself.

His Physical therapy was an even bigger challenge. Therapy began with him moving light objects—a mug, a small ball, or items that weighed almost nothing. The boy grew impatient in those early months, frustrated by the slow pace of his recovery and the weakness he felt. He was so weak that even activating his Quirk was impossible.

Speaking of his Quirk, Raiden noticed a peculiar change the day he woke up. The glowing "1" on his forearm had transformed into a bright "2," which also seemed to enhance the power emanating from his Quirk. This strange development led Raiden to formulate two hypotheses.

The first was that after every victory against someone he truly considered an enemy, the number on his forearm increased, along with his power. If this was correct, defeating 50 more enemies could theoretically make him fifty times stronger than he was now.

The second hypothesis was that his Quirk functioned like a game mechanic. Each enemy he defeated might grant him experience points, allowing him to "level up." If this were the case, Raiden figured he might currently be in the early stages of the "game," where leveling up was faster. However, as he progressed, gaining more power might become significantly harder. Secretly, he hoped the first hypothesis was true—otherwise, his journey to grow in strength would be exceedingly difficult and slow, isn't like the fighting part bothered him, but, isn't like he could find enemies everywhere.

By the six-month mark, Raiden had recovered enough to begin light exercise, gradually building toward a more athletic regimen. Finally, after eight months, he managed to use his Quirk again for the first time since the incident.

Yet even though he was already able to use his Quirk, Raiden's parents decided it was better to wait another month before allowing him to fully unleash it, a decision Raiden didn't agree with but decided to "obey". Taking advantage of the fact that his parents were out working, Raiden decided to start his Quirk training.

In the middle of the living room, Raiden activated his Quirk. Immediately, the number two inscribed on his forearm began to glow, and the light quickly expanded, engulfing his entire body.

His appearance began to change almost instantly. Raiden grew taller, his body becoming more defined and muscular, a purple tail sprouting from his back. He could feel it move as naturally as if it had always been a part of him, more instinctively than when he first mutated. His legs bulged with newfound strength, clearly defined in muscle, while his face became sharper, his features more defined. His piercing purple eyes gleamed with an intense focus, and his long arms rippled with muscle as the transformation completed.

Now fully transformed, Raiden exuded an otherworldly and powerful presence. As the last of his transformation settled, objects in the living room began to shake, and some even started to float around him. His eyes glowed with a bright blue hue, and ripples of energy surged from his body, sending waves of power throughout the room. The couch and the TV trembled, slowly lifting into the air as his psychic energy radiated outward.

Raiden could feel the power coursing through his veins, at least 55% stronger than the last time he transformed. Realizing the immense energy he was unleashing, he recognized how much it was affecting his surroundings due to the lack of control. Quickly, he decided to leave the house to avoid causing more chaos. Using his own power, he flew toward the garden.

As he passed the kitchen, Raiden's eyes caught sight of a couple of spoons. Almost as if responding to his energy, they began to shake violently, vibrating in midair under the influence of his psychic powers.

Seeing how the spoons responded better than most objects in the house to his psychic powers, Raiden decided to experiment.

With a wave of his hand, he commanded the spoons to follow him, and they floated obediently, orbiting around him as he moved toward the courtyard.

Once outside, Raiden looked around to assess his training space. The courtyard, adorned with vibrant plants and flowers, offered around 40 square meters of open space—four meters to his sides and ten meters straight ahead. He took a mental note of his surroundings, particularly his mother's beloved plants.

"Good, plenty of room. I just have to avoid mom's plants, or I'll be in big trouble," he thought as he eyed the greenery decorating the courtyard.

"First, I need control," Raiden muttered to himself. "The 'level up' boosted my psychic powers, but I need to figure out how to channel them properly."

Determined, Raiden sat cross-legged and floated a meter above the ground. The five spoons continued to hover above his head, gently rotating as he concentrated. He stared at them intently. "This might work," he murmured, extending a hand. Visualizing what he wanted them to do, Raiden mentally commanded the spoons to move in front of him and spin in a circle.

At first, the movement was unsteady. The spoons jittered and wobbled as they followed his command, shaking erratically. Raiden frowned, realizing the instability stemmed from the raw, unrefined energy he was projecting. "I need to control the power output," he thought.

He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and focused. Visualizing the spoons moving smoothly, he channeled his energy more precisely. Gradually, the objects stabilized, spinning gracefully in a perfect circle. This success gave him insight—control wasn't just about power; it was about intention and focus. He continued experimenting, forming increasingly complex patterns with the spoons while carefully restricting his energy output to what was needed.

After thirty minutes, Raiden felt a noticeable difference. The ripples of raw power that had been radiating from his body began to fade, leaving only a faint blue glow. "So, it wasn't too much power—it was just waste," he concluded.

Understanding that mastery required patience and persistence, Raiden practiced controlling his aura for another thirty minutes, refining his precision and conserving his energy. Once satisfied with his progress, he stood and dusted off his hands.

"Now," Raiden said with a smirk, his purple eyes glowing faintly, "let's test the attacks."

Raiden clasped his hands together, focusing his psychic energy. His eyes glowed with an intense blue light as purple energy began to gather in his palms. Taking a deep breath, he aimed his hands toward the sky.

"Confusion," he murmured.

A surge of purple energy burst forth in concentric waves, spiraling upward with immense force. The recoil from the sheer power pushed his arm back slightly, making him stumble. As the energy dissipated into the sky, Raiden felt a noticeable drain in his stamina. It wasn't overwhelming—more like the feeling of warming up before strenuous exercise. Alongside the physical effort, he noticed a slight mental fatigue, just a small tug at his focus. For now, it was manageable, but he knew repeated use could push him further.

He flexed his arm and nodded in satisfaction. "So, it really does use stamina," he thought. He'd suspected as much during his last fight, but now he had confirmation. Every powerful attack came with a cost, one that relied heavily on his physical condition—and just a bit on his mental endurance.

"Now, let's test the other abilities I didn't use that day," he said aloud, shifting his focus. He concentrated on his eyes, channeling his energy inward.

"Laser Focus," he muttered.

Almost instantly, his perception sharpened. The world around him seemed the same visually, but his awareness heightened drastically. It was as if he could sense the critical details in his surroundings rather than merely see them. He became acutely aware of the subtle textures of the courtyard bricks, the delicate movement of the leaves, and even the faint tremor in the air. His energy felt more concentrated, more precise.

Raiden blinked in amazement. "This would've been a game-changer back then," he thought, frustrated that he hadn't fully understood this ability during his earlier battles. The clarity it offered wasn't just visual—it was a heightened sense of everything around him, a perfect tool for pinpointing weaknesses and delivering critical blows.

With a sigh, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Better late than never," he muttered, ready to see what else his Quirk could do.

Just as Raiden ended the test, he instinctively pushed his hand forward and muttered, "Disable." His eyes glowed as he felt a psychic force leave his body, but nothing happened in front of him.

Puzzled, Raiden tilted his head, pondering the situation. "Maybe I need a target," he muttered. Quickly, he shifted his attention to a tree in the corner of the garden and activated his power again. "Disable." Yet again, nothing happened.

"Maybe it only works on living targets, like a person?" he wondered aloud, floating around the garden with his legs crossed and an arm resting on his jaw in thought.

After that, Raiden kept training until he couldn't anymore—until his body gave up and his transformation faded. After two hours of testing, he concluded two important things.

First, all of his abilities taxed both his mental and physical stamina. The only power that didn't exhaust him much was his basic telekinetic ability. He could use it to fly and move objects, but when he tried to launch something with force, the power faltered, and the object fell to the ground. Offensive telekinesis was clearly beyond his reach for now.

Second, each skill had its own limit. Confusion could be used eight times in a row, requiring about thirty seconds of recovery between each attack. The same pattern applied to his other abilities. Life Draw, however, was the most demanding—he could only use it five times before the mental strain became unbearable. Despite not causing immediate physical exhaustion, it left a noticeable mental fatigue that grew with each use.

It was strange how every skill seemed to function within its own "box" of energy, each with a different threshold. Once that threshold was reached, he needed time to recharge. It wasn't just raw power but control and endurance that mattered.

"It's like every ability operates on its own timer," Raiden mused. "I'll need to manage my stamina better to master them."

Despite his fatigue, Raiden felt a surge of determination. He knew he was just beginning to understand the true extent of his powers, and with practice, he'd push these limits further, that was tomorrow's job.

Today, Raiden was utterly exhausted. He went straight to the shower, letting the hot water wash away the strain from his training. Afterward, he made a beeline for the kitchen, driven by a voracious hunger. He tore through whatever food he could find, leaving a trail of empty wrappers and dishes in his wake.

By the time his parents arrived, they found him sitting at the table, eating noodles with tomato sauce straight from the pot, a liter of Coke in one hand.

...

Both of them stood in the doorway, speechless. They exchanged glances, unsure whether to be concerned or amused. The silence hung thick until Raiden finally looked up, cheeks full of noodles, and mumbled through a mouthful of food:

"H-Hi... I was a little hungry."

The awkwardness lingered for a moment longer before his parents burst into laughter, shaking their heads in disbelief.

Hi, here I tried to balance how the attacks work in the game and how they will work here. What I'm tryng to do is respect both works, Pokémon and MHA. This will also serv as a weakness or limitation to Raiden—every Quirk had one, or most of them.

If you had any coments, let me know.
