Chapter 44: More friends are better, right?
Right on the first day, everyone was tired from the tension.
Frankly, he wanted to invite everyone out, so he could know all of them better. However, it would be awkward if few people weren't invited, especially when one was hurt, the other was in a furious state, and the last one was kind of distant.
He had to say that three of his classmates were weird.
"Midoriya, is your finger alright?"
"Ah, um..." The curly haired-boy whose face was so normal was startled to be asked by someone suddenly.
"Sorry to startle you. If I am not wrong, your name is Midoriya, right?"
It was time for them to go home, and they went home quite early, considering it was their first day in school.
Mineta could see Midoriya wanted to go home directly, but he stopped him since he was curious how Midoriya's finger could be okay.
"Ah, yes, I am Midoriya Izuku!" Midoriya didn't expect Mineta would talk to him. Frankly, out of all the students in this class, Mineta's performance was out of the chart already and the best among them.
Mineta was calm, and he was also popular. Even though it was his first day, he had already made many friends and talked with two girls calmly while joking around as if they were someone who had known each other for so long.
Midoriya suddenly remembered the term, which was used for this type of student in his middle school, and he knew that Mineta was this type of guy.
Riajuu (popular guy).
In middle school, Midoriya was at the bottom of the hierarchy and was bullied, considering he was "Quirkless," and his nerd-like personality didn't help him at all. Still, while he was bullied, he was only bullied by Bakugou, and no one else touched him.
While he didn't realize it, it might be how Bakugou showed his tough love to him, so no one other than him could bully him.
He wasn't sure, and he didn't have that thought at all since he was curious about what Mineta wanted to talk about.
Midoriya's seat was just right in front of him, and if this guy didn't come late, Mineta might also talk with him.
However, frankly, he didn't have a good opinion about Midoriya since, in his mind, this guy was almost a fanatic, crazy hero-worshipper individual. He somehow felt sorry for his parents, wondering what they would think if they knew their son had broken his finger right on the first day of school. However, he wouldn't show it and didn't care much since they had only met each other for a few hours, and instead of showing a rude, jerk-like response, it was better to show a fake friendly smile since he wanted to have a good relationship with Midoriya even if his opinion about him wasn't good.
"Is your finger alright?" Mineta asked in concern.
"Ah, I am alright. Recovery Girl healed my finger before," Midoriya said with an embarrassed smile, thinking Mineta was a gentle guy since he asked about his situation.
"Recovery Girl? Who is that?" Mineta asked curiously. After all, he wasn't hurt on the entrance exam, so he didn't meet the Recovery Lady.
Out of all the candidates during the entrance exam, Midoriya was the one with the worst injuries. While many were injured, he was the first to receive treatment. Part of it was because he had the worst injuries, but while no one knew, he also had a connection to this school, so even if his body kept hurting almost to the point of similar suicide, no one said much, and he got special treatment.
"It's..."
Midoriya explained Recovery Girl was the nurse of this school, and she had a "Quirk" that was capable of amplifying the healing process of her target. This was also the reason why his broken finger was alright now. However, in the process, his stamina was drained, which was also why he seemed so exhausted.
Even if Mineta didn't ask, Midoriya kept explaining in great detail with a low mutter voice, which wouldn't lose to a machine gun.
"....."
"I see...."
When Midoriya finished his explanation, Mineta quickly interrupted him. "I am sure that you're tired now. Rest well. See you tomorrow, Midoriya. Oh, right, my name is Minoru Mineta. You can call me Mineta." However, he was glad to know there was someone known as Recovery Girl in this school, making him realize the luxurious treatment of the students of Yuuei.
"Ah, yes, Mineta-kun!"
Midoriya nodded with an innocent smile, thinking that Mineta was really gentle before going home since he was tired after his treatment.
Mineta only smiled and waved his hand when he saw Midoriya leave. Frankly, there was no fluctuation in his heart when he talked with Midoriya. He didn't have a like or dislike toward him. However, having more friends wouldn't hurt, even if he thought Midoriya might be expelled from the hero course and become the student of the general course if he kept breaking his body like this.
His purpose in coming here wasn't to become a hero, after all.
A hero was just his stepstone, so he could have a comfortable life.
When he finished talking with Midoriya, Sero, Tokoyami, Jiro, and Momo also started to ask him, talking curiously about Midoriya, considering Midoriya was one of the most noticeable students, especially after his feat on the softball-throwing test.
However, what attracted them the most was the fact that Midoriya broke his finger during the test.
Mineta didn't know about the details of his "Quirk," so he couldn't say much about Midoriya, and he also wasn't native to this world, so he wasn't sure whether Midoriya's condition was normal or not since the detailed information about "Quirk" was hard to get.
Still, Sero changed the topic of conversation and asked, "Hey, what are you planning to do after this?" He thought they should go somewhere after the first class, considering he wanted to know everyone more.
However, they subconsciously looked at him at the same time.
Mineta was speechless, but he said, "Actually, I plan to invite everyone in the class to get to know each other, so I plan to invite you all out to either McRonald or karaoke. While Aizawa-sensei told us not to play friends during these past three years, we'll be classmates for three years if there isn't a problem, so why shouldn't we get to know each other better? After all, if we become a Pro Hero, teamwork is inevitable, and working with someone you know is better than working with a stranger, right? And, instead of being awkward with all of you for three years, isn't it better to be friends?"
After all, if their result was unsatisfactory, they might be demoted to the general course, but if there wasn't any problem, they would be classmates for three years, so why should they become an enemy instead of a friend?
His motto was that hundreds of friends weren't enough and one enemy was too much.
"Oh, that's a good idea!" Sero was happy.
"The darkness inside me trembles with excitement," Tokoyami said solemnly.
"I don't mind." Jiro nodded since she wanted to know all of them better, especially... let's forget the last part.
"McRonald? Karaoke?" However, Momo was surprised and asked, "Is that a place where people eat unhealthy food or sing together?"
"....."
Sero, Tokoyami, and Jiro had guessed that Momo was quite different from others, but they didn't expect that this girl would not have common sense.
"Wait a moment."
But before he let them explain, he stopped them. "While I want to invite everyone, few of us have already gone home. It won't be good if we don't invite them after all."
"That's true."
All of them were clear about what had happened during the physical test, so they understood why he decided to postpone this matter.
"As for McRonald or karaoke, if you're curious, I will take you out later, Ojou-sama." Mineta couldn't help but tease Momo.
Momo rolled her eyes and complained, "Please call me Yaoyorozu-san or Momo-san." She knew that Mineta teased her, considering her lack of common sense.
"Yes, yes, Ojou-sama."
Mineta didn't bother with Momo's complaint, but somehow the rest were having fun making fun of Momo, considering this girl was a real, rich living girl. While they continued to talk, his smartphone vibrated, and he got a chat from Ibara, telling him that she was going to come to his house with Kodai and Kendo.
Mineta felt weird, wondering why they had gone home so quickly.
Did they miss him so much?
After all, they only parted for a while, but she asked her when he was going back.
Even Kodai and Kendo also asked the same question in their group chat.
"Who did you chat with?" Jiro couldn't help but ask curiously.
While Momo, Sero, and Tokoyami didn't say anything, their expressions showed curiosity.
Mineta didn't hide anything and said, "My girlfriend."
"..........."
At that moment, a sound vanished from this world.
