Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 187: C135(2)

The initial Extremis virus serum didn't provide overwhelming strength but had the unique ability to evolve. It optimized foreign genes, a feature that had already benefited Kain himself.

However, further genetic fusion—such as incorporating Hashirama cells or the Phoenix's regenerative genes—would likely be necessary to stabilize the process and avoid failure.

With affairs in the Marvel world organized, Kain prepared to venture to another world. But before heading to the third trading world, he decided to visit the wizarding world.

There, he planned to purchase potions, alchemical items, and check in on his goddaughter.

Every time Kain left the wizarding world, he instructed Phil and Guy to record important events for him.

Guy kept track of the potion material shop's accounts, while Phil, being just a house-elf, lacked the skills to gather meaningful intelligence.

Instead, Phil would save copies of the Daily Prophet for Kain to review. Meanwhile, Isaac had been sent by Kain to infiltrate Hogwarts and protect Hermione.

What Kain didn't know, however, was that Hogwarts house-elves wouldn't report on a professor's or regent's servant. As a result, Isaac was enjoying an easy and carefree time at Hogwarts.

The last time Kain reviewed an entire year's worth of newspapers, he found most of them filled with tedious and irrelevant news.

This time, he skipped the newspapers and headed straight to the potion material shop to meet with Guy.

Today, Kain's potion material shop was the largest in Diagon Alley.

With its unique supply of dragon materials and its rapidly expanding business, the shop had, over the course of a year, become the top supplier of potion ingredients in the British wizarding world—and arguably the entire European magical community.

"Welcome, sir! Do you need anything, boss? Have you just returned?"

Guy , busy behind the counter, immediately walked out to greet Kain and instructed someone to bring black tea.

After sitting down, Kain replied, "It seems business is going well, Guy."

"Of course, boss! The potion material shop is growing at an incredible pace. By the way, I've recorded many things as you requested," Guy said, quickly retrieving a ledger.

The book detailed the shop's development over the past year. Kain skimmed through it. The entries were meticulous, with notes and figures about expansions, profits, and deals.

Guy had successfully opened two more potion material shops in Europe—one in France and another in Germany.

Seventeen employees had been hired, and eleven exclusive supply contracts had been signed under magical oaths. However, the Ministry of Magic had begun drafting countermeasures to curb the shop's rapid expansion.

Many wizarding magazines had criticized the Ministry for interfering in the market and violating personal freedoms.

It was likely that Minister Fudge, infamous for his incompetence and susceptibility to bribes, had been coerced into taking such a step.

Guy had cleverly used public opinion to his advantage, stirring criticism against the Ministry's "foolish policies" and rallying support for the shop.

In the British wizarding world, criticizing the Ministry was a favorite pastime for many, especially under Fudge's weak leadership.

Suddenly, Guy mentioned, "By the way, boss, the Delacour family seems to be reselling our magical materials privately. They've recently increased their purchases, and it's hurting our business in the French wizarding world."

Kain's expression hardened. "Hire some wizards to spy on the Delacour family. Identify one of their people and capture them."

After Kain finished speaking, he paused to think for a moment before asking about the Delacour family's purchase volumes and the overall business situation in the French wizarding world.

After devising a cunning plan, he explained it to Guy.

Upon hearing Kain's strategy, Guy took a moment to process it, immediately recognizing its clever but ruthless nature. If the Delacour family fell for the trap, they could end up being torn apart by other wizards.

Kain warned, "Only act after confirming they've violated the contract. If the timing isn't right, wait and hold off."

"I understand, boss," Guy replied.

Having managed the potion material store for three years, Guy's mindset had gradually shifted toward that of a capitalist.

Moreover, since he received a share of the store's profits, the Delacour family's actions were directly cutting into his own income, making him more determined to address the issue.

Suddenly, Guy seemed to remember something and said to Kain, "By the way, boss, Hermione seems a bit exhausted lately. She's been ordering a lot of potion ingredients to brew invigorating potions. Prolonged use could lead to mental fatigue."

He added, "It's also possible she's supplying it to her classmates, since she's well aware of the side effects of overusing invigorating potions."

"I'll look into it," Kain said with a nod, acknowledging his concern.

However, he suspected Hermione might be using the potions herself. He recalled that during her third year, she had access to the Time-Turner—an alchemical item he considered one of the most intriguing in the wizarding world.
