Chapter 26: TVA
Obadiah played a rather important role in Tony Stark's life.
Especially after his father passed away.
Not to mention, he helped Tony manage the entire company.
At that time, Tony was just in his early twenties, incredibly wealthy, with a genius mind, and an arrogant temperament.
Who knows how much trouble and romantic entanglements he got into outside.
Obadiah was always the one who quietly cleaned up Tony's messes from behind the scenes.
It wasn't until Pepper's arrival that he gradually stepped away from Tony's personal life.
Although he did it to ensure Tony, the golden goose, would lay more golden eggs for him.
From Tony's perspective, he must have had deep feelings for Obadiah.
A partner, a friend, a mentor, even a father figure.
Actually, Tony knew something was wrong as soon as he came back: his travel route know to the terrorists and them having a large number of his company's weapons.
There aren't many people capable of doing all these things simultaneously.
Tony Stark is no fool; when it comes to interpersonal relationships, even a genius can become half-witted. He didn't want to think about it and was somewhat afraid to find the answer himself.
Blake only needed to say half, and Tony completely understood.
Over the years, Stark Industries had become the world's largest arms dealer.
Tony Stark's numerous inventions and designs had solidified the arms market.
In other words, Tony had paved the way for future weapon designs.
The scientists at Stark Industries just had to follow Tony's path.
So in Obadiah's eyes, Tony Stark transformed from a golden goose into a stumbling block preventing him from fully controlling Stark Industries.
Blake didn't need to spell this out; as long as it was confirmed to be Obadiah's doing, Tony understood it himself.
"Whoosh!~~"
Tony downed an entire bottle of beer and exhaled heavily.
"So now, you guys are monitoring him closely, right?"
"I don't know, I'm just a temp, Tony. They see me as a super soldier, but given their way of doing things, probably, it's up to you!"
"Tony, you've seen the weapons those guys have. These are the ones we've seen; who knows how many we haven't seen yet. Terrorists? Drug dealers?"
Seeing Tony Stark hesitate, Blake added.
"I know, I know, even if I stop weapons production, he still has ways and resources to secretly produce and sell on his own."
Tony frowned and rubbed his head hard.
"Give me some time. I'll make him leave the company. I'll give him a chance to retire peacefully." Tony still felt a bit reluctant.
Maybe it's destined; Iron Monger was destined to be born, making way for the name Iron Man.
The difference now is that Blake might be involved too.
"Alright! I'll let them know not to act on their own!" Blake agreed readily.
Now he possessed 30% of the Hulk's power. In the Marvel movie world, he might not have enough combat power later on.
But at this time, 30% of the Hulk's power is like a bug.
Iron Monger is just a thicker paper shell, just a bit more troublesome to tear apart.
"Tony, I understand how you feel. It's okay, there's no one else here. If you want to cry, just cry out. Come lean on my broad shoulders, carry the burden! Baby!"
"Get out! JARVIS, contact the Los Angeles Police Department and tell them a pervert has broken into my house!"
Blake didn't know what S.H.I.E.L.D.'s decision about Obadiah was.
He could only call Black Widow.
"Is there something you need, intern agent?"
This time, there was no sound of gunfire around Black Widow; it was very quiet.
"Something's up, something big. I don't want to do this anymore. I thought joining the largest intelligence agency and becoming a mysterious agent would mean saving the world and having sexy female partners around me!"
"Who knew I'd become an intern agent? Not only do they not let me save the world, but the beautiful female agents are nowhere to be seen. Sigh! Do you know what it's like to miss someone so much you can't sleep at night?"
Blake's teasing made Black Widow let out a pleasant laugh.
"If you really miss me that much, then when this mission is over, I'll come to Los Angeles to see you!"
Almost every day is filled with missions, and conversations are all business.
Blake's casual and non-serious talk gave Black Widow a different kind of feeling.
"You said it! If you're lying, you're a puppy!"
Blake's childish words made Black Widow feel particularly sincere.
She laughed even more happily.
"Alright, lying means I'm a puppy!"
"Okay, there's something I want to tell you about Obadiah."
Blake repeated Tony's intentions.
After listening, Black Widow hung up and helped Blake inquire about it.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agreed to respect Tony Stark's wishes, but they would continue to monitor Obadiah.
If they discovered any secret actions, S.H.I.E.L.D. would immediately take action.
This was a way to give Tony an explanation. If Obadiah brought trouble upon himself, there would be nothing they could do.
"By the way, you mentioned you're on a mission. What mission? Is it dangerous? Do you need my help?"
With the business done, Blake changed the topic.
"It's classified. You don't have the clearance, Mr. Intern Agent!" Black Widow teased Blake.
After speaking, she felt Blake's genuine concern and added,
"Don't worry. This mission is very safe, no danger!"
"Damn it, I swear, next time we meet, I'm going to smash Nick Fury's egghead!" Blake said viciously. He was fed up with the title of intern agent.
"Egghead, haha! That nickname fits perfectly. Nick would be furious if he knew!"
"Alright, I need to get to work. Be good and wait for me in Los Angeles, intern agent!"
Black Widow also playfully teased Blake.
After hanging up the phone, Black Widow stared at her phone in a daze.
Blake was different from the people around her. His way of speaking and his concern were like that of an ordinary young person.
This was exactly what Black Widow lacked and longed for. This feeling was very warm.
"I'm not really falling in love with this guy, am I?"
Black Widow muttered, then immediately dismissed the thought.
With a bitter smile, she thought to herself that she probably wouldn't have the chance to experience such simple happiness in this life.
She casually tossed her phone onto the couch and looked out at the night view through the window.
---
At that moment, a rectangular golden portal suddenly appeared behind Blake.
A woman wearing a black combat suit with the letters TVA printed on it walked out.
But just as the woman stepped into Blake's apartment, a hand suddenly appeared from the portal.
It pulled the woman back inside.
Then the golden portal disappeared without a trace.
Blake suddenly felt something and quickly turned around.
No one was there.
"Did I sense something wrong? Maybe I haven't been sleeping well these past few days."
Blake scratched his head and said sheepishly.
