Chapter 9- Assistant
"If your information is correct, you will be duly rewarded for it. But regardless of the accuracy of your information, my eyes will always be on you, boy."
I slowly turned around and saw Philips walking out of the alley with the gun back on his belt. I've given him one important piece of information for now, but I still have some more important information to give him.
The rest of my plan is a little more risky. Now I need to find a way to get the Hydra agents to target me. That way I can pretend that my life is under threat because of the cheap information I sold him and make him trust me more.
Of course, I need to get stronger as soon as possible to avoid being accidentally killed during these dangerous plans. Of course, I have to focus on system missions, and the reward for my last one was a direct skill.
When I checked the clock in the corner of my field of vision, I saw that my next mission was still half an hour away.
[ Rewarding ]
I was about to return to the hotel when suddenly a box appeared floating in front of me and I reflexively grabbed it and looked around. It was stupid to look around because the system didn't give me the reward while others were watching, but it was a reflexive act.
I drank the yellow potion in one go and, as usual, felt nothing and went straight into the hotel.
With the 2000 dollars I had just won, now I had a little more than 2250 dollars in total and I was deathly hungry.
I wandered around for a while because the waiters offered me drinks and some interesting snacks to go with the drinks, and eventually I went back down to the kitchen. It was an astonishing sight to see dozens of chefs and sous chefs in white suits ignoring me and going about their business with full focus.
I approached one of them who didn't seem overly preoccupied with his work and asked him where I could eat.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we're not cooking tonight. If you go out the back door and walk 50 meters to the right of the road, there is a restaurant open at night."
Just then, a woman came in with quick and firm steps and asked the person I was talking to what was going on.
"Chef, this gentleman came here because he was hungry and I was giving him directions to a restaurant"
The woman listened to the person I was talking to, then told him to get back to work and turned to me.
"Sir, what would you like to eat?"
"I'm quite hungry, but I don't have time to waste, so a sandwich would be fine, if possible."
"A sandwich... Sir if you are staying here tonight the event will be over in 15 minutes and I can send a real dinner to your room"
"Thank you."
One of the female chef's pupils, was completely white, so my eyes kept involuntarily drifting to her white eye during the conversation.
"It's a disease, Sir..."
"Yes, I know, it's albino, I've seen it before. Usually, albinos don't look good on people, that's what surprised me."
"Haha, thank you."
Unfortunately, praising her didn't get me an earlier meal and she turned around and went back to her work, yelling and screaming at the other chefs. So, with nothing to do, I went upstairs and started to pass the time like a ghost in a corner of the living room while snacking on the olives served with the alcohol.
Half an hour later it was time for my mission and I had already arrived at my mission location.
Within seconds, Howard Stark appeared at the end of the corridor, almost unconscious on the shoulder of another scientist, almost unconscious from excessive alcohol consumption.
"Mr. Howard. I have a question to ask you."
"Now? It's a little difficult, you see, Mr. Michael, I'm a little drunk right now hahaha"
"Which room are you staying in?"
"48"
"Oh, lucky me, I'm in room 47. I'll give you a lift."
Howard was about to refuse me when the scientist who had been carrying him until now thanked me, saying that he was leaving for the night, and then he dumped Howard on me.
"It seems you have no choice, Mr. Howard."
"Hahaha, thank you."
After carrying him to the elevator, I dialed the 4th floor and used this opportunity to ask him a question.
"What I wanted to ask you was, do you need any assistants?"
"Why would a rich man like you want to be an assistant to a man like me who uses science for something as disgusting as making weapons?"
I wasn't talking about myself... Well, it doesn't make any difference.
"I'm looking for a new life now, and it's not right that you see yourself as a simple weapons manufacturer. I believe you are capable of great projects in the future."
[ Mission accomplished ]
The music in the elevator stopped at the same time as the mission completed sign appeared. And then the elevator door slowly opened and showed us the corridor we were going to.
"Mr. Michael, if I need you for a moment, I will try to contact you. But please don't get your hopes up, I'm working with the army at the moment so I don't have much choice in matters like assistants."
As we finished talking, I led him across the hall to a room across the hall from mine. He was a little surprised to see that my room was across the hall from his and we chatted for a while in a friendly way.
By this time the elevator had left and came back again. When we saw the elevator door open, we both thought it was a good time to end the conversation.
I was about to help Howard into his room when a wonderful smell reached our noses at the same time and we both looked back out the door in the direction of the elevator.
