Rhys’s leave ended on the morning of the second day after they returned to the Zerg central star system. He had to report to the military headquarters that afternoon; otherwise, the system would consider him to have voluntarily given up his position as a major general in the regiment.
On He Qin’s last day of vacation, he couldn’t enjoy it properly due to his back injury. Hearing that Rhys was going to the military headquarters, he offered to accompany his female lord.
In the Zerg society, it’s always the female zergs who send off the male zergs. No matter how cherished the female lord is, the male zergs wouldn’t waste their time to see them off.
The Starry Night Legion doesn’t allow external aircraft to enter. Rhys handed over his aircraft to a designated person and took out his light-brain for identity verification on the machine.
“Major General, who is this?” He Qin didn’t want to be recognized, so he wore a hat covering most of his face. The female guard couldn’t identify him at first.
The Starry Night Legion isn’t a place where just anyone can enter. Even guests brought by Major General Rhys have to undergo necessary checks.
Rhys walked up to the female soldier and whispered, “This is my male lord. Just record today’s visit as usual.”
Hearing this, the female guard was stunned at first. Then, realizing who it was, he saluted the two of them, made a brief registration and signature, and respectfully invited the male zerg to enter.
“Major General’s male lord is indeed extraordinary…” The female soldier murmured, looking at the male zerg’s sturdy figure.
Today, Rhys didn’t need to start working immediately. He just came to report to the military headquarters and give his adjutant Jack the instructions for tomorrow.
The master didn’t want to be recognized as a male zerg. Before going out, he sprayed something he got from Leonard and specifically told Rhys not to show their relationship too obviously in the military camp.
“Good afternoon, Major General.”
“Hello.”
“Major General, you’re finally back.”
“Hmm.”
As the Major General of the Starry Night Legion, there were soldiers greeting him along the way. Rhys responded to them with a simple ‘Hmm, good, okay,’ unlike his enthusiasm towards He Qin.
Seeing this stark contrast, He Qin, under the hat, found it adorable and couldn’t help but chuckle a few times.
Hearing the continuous laughter from the male zerg not far from him, Rhys slowed his pace and asked quietly, “Master, did something funny happen?”
“Cough, nothing,” He Qin covered his mouth and coughed softly, then leaned closer to the female zerg’s ear and whispered, “I just think you’re too cute.”
Rhys’s ears visibly turned a shy pink.
The master had turned mischievous, saying such things in public.
However, he liked it…
To prevent his whole face from turning red in front of his soldiers, he kept diverting his attention and adjusting his breathing.
“Rhys, finally! I thought your male lord had locked you up at home.” A stranger called out loudly from the hallway, addressing Rhys by name.
The stranger, with striking red hair, appeared to have a more lively personality compared to Rhys’s calm and steady demeanor.
“Joe, making a racket outside the General’s office—do you want to be punished?” Rhys addressed the zerg named Jo unkindly.
No sooner had he spoken than a commanding voice boomed from inside the room, “Joe, do 1,000 push-ups before starting your training.”
This punishment reminded He Qin of his days on Earth with his comrades.
“Ahhh, General, I’m sorry!” Joe cried loudly, leaning against the door, not seeming genuinely repentant.
“Make that 2,000,” the General’s voice came again, even more irritated.
“Yes, General.” The red-haired zerg immediately stopped their antics, made a pitiful face, and mimed walking with their fingers, signaling to Rhys that they were leaving.
As Joe passed He Qin, his eyes suddenly sharpened, probing He Qin like a fine needle seeking weaknesses.
Joe had noticed the black-clad zerg following Rhys, face hidden under a hat, and his sixth sense told them this zerg was not to be trifled with.
Friend or foe? Why was Rhys so close to this zerg?
Joe’s challenging gaze ignited a rare surge of excitement in He Qin, making him feel truly equal among the Zerg for the first time.
So, the Zerg had such interesting personalities too?
Shaking his head, He Qin followed Rhys into the room.
“Reporting to General Lynn, Rhys has returned from his marriage leave and is here to complete his work formalities.” Rhys, in his fitted military uniform, appeared as sharp as a newly honed sword. His confidence and noble demeanor outshone even the sunlight filtering into the room.
The man, the General of the Starry Night Legion, exuded a commanding presence that demanded respect.
The long-forgotten pressure of standing before a superior instinctively made He Qin adopt a military stance: legs tense, arms at his sides, chest out, and head held high.
“And who is this young person?” The General, noting that anyone brought into the camp by the typically aloof Rhys must be extraordinary, examined He Qin.
Judging by the young man’s build, he seemed like a professionally trained soldier. Could Rhys have recruited him from another legion?
He Qin’s concealed scent had even fooled the General of the Starry Night Legion.
Indeed, the male lord was once an outstanding warrior, Rhys thought proudly.
“General, this is not an ordinary soldier but my master,” Rhys said, moving to He Qin’s side and gently removing his hat, his tone filled with pride.
Yes, he was very proud. This exceptional male zerg belonged to him.
Even if his master might marry more females in the future, Rhys would always be He Qin’s only female lord.
“A male?” The General was taken aback, standing up abruptly from his seat.
With his hat removed, He Qin’s features were fully revealed. The General recognized him as the male zerg retrieved from Earth.
Male zergs typically dislike the military department, and even his very doting master has never visited the military camp. Over the years, it’s unheard of for a male zerg to accompany a female zerg to the military department.
Rhys truly found a treasure this time…
“Rhys, get a chair for Lord He Qin.” If the male zerg didn’t sit, Lynn wouldn’t dare sit either.
Lynn wondered how the male zerg entered the military camp so silently, but since he was here, he had to be well taken care of.
“Lord He Qin came to accompany Rhys?” Just hearing that the other was a male zerg brought out the natural affection that female zergs have for them.
Lynn had long passed the prime reproductive age for female zergs. Over the past decade, he had only given birth to four female zergs for his master.
His first offspring with his master was about the same age as a young male zerg now. If only it were a male zerg…
“Yes, General.” Facing the highly authoritative Starry Night Legion general, He Qin used the tone of an ordinary soldier replying to a superior.
Lynn was startled by the respectful address and hurriedly explained, “You shouldn’t address me like that, just call me Lynn.”
He Qin suddenly remembered what Rhys had told him about the proper way to address female zergs. Today, he was merely accompanying and didn’t want to cause any trouble for General Lynn.
So, he corrected himself, “Alright, Lynn.”
“You and Rhys have a great relationship. Since you are an A-grade male zerg, there should be eggs soon.” Lynn signed the form Rhys handed over.
Lynn’s gaze drifted to Rhys’s abdomen, wondering if there might already be signs of life there.
When Rhys heard the General mention eggs, he lowered his head slowly, his eyes fixed on the floor. He too hoped to have a child with his master’s bloodline soon, but his master didn’t seem ready yet.
Rhys thought of the time his master asked him to clean up afterwards, which only reinforced his belief that there wouldn’t be any eggs in the near future.
“Thank you for your kind words.” Outwardly facing the elder female zerg’s concern, He Qin felt like his mind was in turmoil.
He suddenly remembered that in the Zerg society, they weren’t just two males with the same body structure, but a male and a female zerg, and that he and Rhys would eventually have children.
He decided to privately consult Ryan about Zerg reproduction knowledge.
“Major General, take your proof form and go accompany your master,” General Lynn said with a smile, silently blessing Rhys as he watched the two young people walk away.
In the past, this child suffered too much at the Qi family. As a female zerg, Lynn felt powerless. He hoped that in the future, fate would be kinder to him and that his master’s affection would never fade.
After collecting the proof form and recording his return to work, Rhys still needed to go to his office to get some briefings from his adjutant Jack.
“Major General, you’re finally back.” Over the past few days, while the Major General was on his marriage leave, all matters had piled up on Jack’s shoulders. He was overwhelmed and looked at Rhys as if he had found a savior.
Who is this following the Major General?
“Lord He Qin, you came too.” Seeing the male, Jack immediately straightened up, as if the whining zerg just now wasn’t him at all.
“Long time no see, Jack.” He Qin glanced around the room, noting that aside from its larger size, it didn’t really seem like an office for a Major General.
The entire room only had a desk and a chair, a sofa for guests to rest on, and a small round table. If He Qin hadn’t known in advance that this was Rhys’s office, he might have mistaken it for the possessions of some bankrupt noble.
No wonder he’s the Major General’s adjutant. With just a look from Rhys, Jack quickly sorted and moved the files accumulated on the sofa to the Major General’s desk.
After tidying up the sofa, Jack pulled out a cleaning wipe and gave the sofa a quick once-over before inviting the male zerg, “Lord He Qin, I’ll be reporting to the Major General next. It might take a while, so please rest here for now.”
