LUNA’S SECRET

Chapter 2: Chapter 1

Luna wakes up three days later completely emaciated, thirsty she drank from the well, she had never felt so weak and vulnerable in her entire life, she had cried all the tears she had left, she hated herself for waking up, she wished she had died right now all she felt was numb as she walked around looking at the place she once called home, looking at the ashes of the people she loved.

The thought of food made her want to barf, she had no strength to bury all those people on her own, but she couldn't live not yet, the smell of decaying bodies made her gag but there was nothing left in her stomach to throw up, flies buzzed around as some of the bodies had already started changing color due to the heat and decay, the smell and heat was making her dizzy.

She knew she had to hurry up and leave the area in case the people who did this came back to find her, she half wished they would come back to finish the job they started, she knew as the sole surviving member of her pack she had to honor their death the people who had been massacred in their beds like cowards without even being given a fighting chance.

The farm lands has been decimated even the apple trees that stood in the heart of the pack were all burnt beyond recognition, Luna went to the stream and caught a small fish gutting it and eating it raw, it used to be a delicacy she and her wolf enjoyed but right now , the whole thing wanted to come back up but she held it down. Stripping she took a quick dip and got out then she went to work.

She began digging shallow graves her parents in the middle and the rest of the pack members around them, her pack had roughly around hundred people including children , she was able to dig twenty graves and buried the most elite of the pack members, then the rest of them she put in a mass grave. She would have built a fire and just burnt them all in a funeral pyre but she couldn't disrespect them that way.

They had already died unjustly without even being given a fighting chance , now they needed to rest in the earth. She began muttering a prayer to the moon goddess for their soul, exhausting slowly creeped in, shaking violently from the hard work and all the emotions, she passed out right there on top of her parents grave.

Her sleep was one filled with memories of her time with her parents, how happy, how loved she was , it was like this eighteen year old her stood aside watching all the happy memories, in reality a tear slid from her cheeks and she whimpered, then she saw hooded men, dressed all in black setting the place ablaze, her home everything she loved burning , she attempted running towards them to warn them, she couldn't seem to reach them, she tried creating an alarm, screaming as loud as she could but she was too late, she startled awake to find out it was still late.

There was no house left standing, she knew what she had to do, only revenge would cut it, she would find out who committed such abomination and revenge her pack then she would build it back to its fomer glory she promised her dead family, then she packed water in a canteen and began her walk , she had nowhere to go but she knew she couldn't live here, she would go mad.

She realized her head was quiet it never was, her wolf spirit was always talkative, voicing its opinion, she tried to shift and nothing, the pain of the loss hit her so much that she buckled, she had lost her wolf, her wolf had died along side her family, maybe she was just a vengeful ghost too, living because of her thirst for vengeance, she hoped her wolf spirit was with the others.

She had been hoping to go to another pack hoping they would take her in , but she realized she was almost nothing but a mere human, no pack would want to take her in and she would rather die than become a rogue those where the people that killed her family, Luna trudged along, she knew it would be miles before she met another civilization but she didn't care.

She gathered supplies as she went fruits, fish which she roasted along the way, meat was something she could not bring herself to to eat after smelling the charred remains of her parents and pack mates, the thought of eating meat made her want to gag, she walked slowly pacing herself, she was no longer as strong as she used to be though she still had alpha blood running in her.

Luna knew she had to pick up from where she left off ,she would learn about poisonous herbs , she would learn about the antidotes, she would make herself the most powerful healer and poisoner that ever lived she had no wolf spirit anymore but she would still have an alpha blood running in through her. She knew she had to keep walking without the protection of her pack she was mince meat to the creatures that walk the night.

Luna took to walking all day and hiding in caves or where she could to avoid predators, she knew if she was caught she would die she had but little strength but her determination to live and get vengeance pushed her,she was getting to the end of her territory and was about to cross into another territory, and because they shared a boundary with humans, she either has to risk going through human territory or following the back and risking it with other predators that prowl the wild, with her wolf spirit she would have been able to outrun them but now she was as vulnerable as a human woman.

She sat down and began gathering dangerous herbs especially wolf bane in large quantities and spent the better part of the week grinding them, it has to be in powder form to be easily used and effective, while she was practicing with the healer, the wolf bane when they handled it they were covered up appropriately, but it could do her no harm now because she was just human, usually it caused itching, burning, hallucination and with it she mixed opium poppy and cannabis, deadly nightshade, Oleander,in large doses enough to be lethal to even other creatures, she didn't know what she might encounter along the way.

When she had gathered enough she went into a cave to sleep and resumed her journey, early the next morning, the cave was damp and uncomfortable but she had no choice at least it provided security, she risked making a fire but didn't cook anything and stuck to eating fresh fruits and peanut. In the morning, after putting out the fire, she knew she needed a test subject to test the efficacy of her concoction .

She set her sight on a group of wild boar she came across drinking he made a loud noise to attract their attention after of course securing the cloth she used to cover her head. She watched in fear,as the charged towards her she began spreading the powder into the air and gasped when the entire animal herd began going in different direction as if in pain before all falling dead. Luna was smart enough to use a strip of cloth to cover her nose and mouth to protect herself. By then it was late evening she had long since crossed the protection of her territory and was hiding in a cave , it was late evening when her eyes snapped open to see two men they didn't seem like werewolves smiling down at her.

They humans did not appear as she thought they would, they looked just like them, this men didn't look friendly though, they looked at her with lust and contempt and she wondered if it was because she had ventured through the human territory, she thought it would be safer here , because wolfs could be more territorial , most often than not the killed or imprisoned anyone who crossed their territory.

What do you want? She questioned her voice coming out shaky and thin, she had not used it in a while, both men chuckled, imitating her, one of them was tall with brown hair and the other was short more stocky and round with black hair, "what do we have here, the heavens have sent us something to sate our thirst". The thirst the tales about was by no means water, Luna could tell from the devious glint in their eyes. The taller man attempted to grab her and she jumped back on instinct.

"Little bitch, he cursed attempting to grab her again while the taller man laughed, taking in her appearance, she was a beautiful woman , curvy at the right places, although haggard with dirty brown dress that had seen better days, tangled hair and tattered sandals, her silver eyes looked haunted and there was this feral wildness about her but it was nothing two men couldn't handle.
