Chapter 66.
After I was done giving vague answers to everyone’s questions about Camula and our Duels, did Zane pick up on some plot holes in my story. “Why would she need to Duel Blair, if-” “Anyway!” I cut him off before he could finish, causing him to raise an eyebrow at me. “That’s about it. Vampire Shadow Rider, Lost her Item, and now is no longer a threat.” “And how do we know they’re not a ‘threat’ anymore? They are still a Vampire right? Wait, do we even really know that they’re a Vampire?” Jayden interrupted, being surprisingly sharp for the moment as he tilted his head.
Alexis’ glare proved how little she appreciated my clear hidden responses. “And where is this vampire now?” She asked, slowly and deliberately, her arms akimbo while she tapped her finger on her waist. I shrugged while my chewing got a bit more violent. “I don’t know where she might be right now.” I said, deliberately saying those exact words as they were technically not a lie. ‘She could have left as the sun is mostly gone… I really don’t know if she still needs rest.’
Alexis walked over and smacked my arm in retaliation. “You’re being cryptic, and the reason why you’re being cryptic is because you’re hiding something.” The room was silent as everyone stared at me in agreeance. I smirked at her, hiding my mouth behind my hand to hide my expression, and fake blush. “You know me so well, I think I might blush.” Alexis stomped on my foot, making me step back and tap it a few times due to the pain. “Rakki lost his soul to her, and I had to get him back.” Blair blurted out, her body mostly remaining behind me, not liking to be the center of the attention in the room.
“Damnit Blair…” I groaned, not wanting to explain shit that really didn’t matter anymore. “Alright! Fine!” I yelled with exasperation, seeing Alexis’ scowl and shaking fist. “I happened to lose the match, and Blair was there to tap in after I was done.” I said, waving the whole ordeal away for the little matter it was.
My foot was then stomped on again, the perpetrator angrily scowling at me. “Alexis-” I was about to speak, but she slapped my face, yelling at me while I registered her attack. “No! You lost your privilege to explain!” She then grabbed Blair out from behind me, and pulled Blair away from me. “If you’re just gonna lie or bend the truth, or however you wanna call it. Then I’ll just listen to Blair instead!” She then began pushing the rest of us guys outside the nurse’s office, slamming and locking the door behind us.
Everything was silent as everyone stared at either me or the door in shock. “Good job there dipshit.” Chazz jeered. “Takes a lot to actually anger Alexis. I almost have to give you props.” Bastion said with his eyes closed and nodded. “Perhaps you should have been more honest from the beginning, or at least after she figured out you were lying.” Zane frowned at me with his arms crossed. I groaned while rubbing my reddened cheek. “Everybody’s a fucking critic…” I murmured. “It didn’t matter at this point. What would be important about something that’s already resolved?”
“Maybe she’s mad because you almost made it sound like… You don’t matter?” Syrus answered timidly behind Jayden. I sighed while pinching the bridge of my nose. Another big reason I didn’t want to explain things was because I didn’t want to explain why I lost on purpose. ‘It’s not… I would have been fine… I’m not throwing my life away. I just couldn’t see Camula throw hers away…’ I bit my lip, images of my mother’s dead eyes peering through me flew through my mind. I began walking away from the group. “Where are you going dude?” Jayden called out to me, but I never heard a word.
Jayden was about to go after Rakki, but was held back by Zane grabbing his shoulder. “He needs time to think.” Zane explained while staring at the back of Rakki, trudging through the halls. Jayden glanced up at Zane, then back at Rakki. Jayden frowned, feeling so powerless to help his friend. There was nothing he could do to cheer him up. Jayden then looked over at the nurse’ office door. He saw a vague shadow behind the stained glass, just as it was slammed open, making everyone jump in shock.
“Alexis-” Jayden was about to speak, but she stomped away at lightning speed where Rakki walked off. “Wait!” Blair yelled while chasing after her. Jayden and the rest of the guys were stiff from confusion, but laughter brought their attention back inside the nurses’ office. “Hahhah! Cough Cough… Worth it!” It was Atticus holding his stomach to help with the pain of laughter. “What happened?” Jayden asked as everyone followed behind him to enter the room.
Atticus' laughter died down to snickering before he could answer. “Well.. Pft! Rakki happened to feel bad enough for the vampire… He’s keeping her in his room… Pfft hahaha!!” Atticus began bursting out into laughter again, wailing in pain in between laughs. “Alexis’, hahah! Her face was so jealous! Hahah!” Jayden blinked a few times, trying to understand all of what was happening, but he wouldn’t lie to himself. “I’m lost.” He said, looking at the rest of the guys for any ideas. Chazz frowned, but he had a small smirk as he led the way. “This I gotta see.”
“She’s still passed out…” I murmured in the empty, darkened room. Only Camula resting on the top bunk and I were alone inside. “She is in need of energy.” I frowned at Zorc’s input. “Like what Blair did to me?” I asked while staring at the sleeping vampire. Zorc then appeared beside me, his green flames helping alight the room in a dull glow. “Her species only retains their youth by drinking the energy out of other beings in a very specific way…” “Oh… I guess that makes sense… You know about Vampires?” I spoke while removing my jacket, and adjusting my shirt.
Zorc scoffed at me. “Boy. I was the creator of her race. There is no other exception of loss I would consider aside from my own people.” I paused from that sudden bomb. Zorc, creator of Vampires. I shook those thoughts away along with Zorc as the room descended into darkness again. “This won't kill or enslave me right?” I asked, and felt Zorc’s assurance. I gulped and leaned the passed out Camula against my shoulder. Her breath tickled my neck as she began sniffing around. She began licking the crook of my neck, causing me to sputter from the ticklish action.
“Hurry u-ack!” Just as I was about to yell at her to hurry up, I felt a slight sting. Camula then grabbed at me, refusing to let go. She leaned forward, pushing both of us both off the bed, and tumbling down on the floor. “Ah Fuck! Wait!” I tried to get her to slow down, but my voice fell on deaf ears as she had now wrapped her legs around mine, prohibiting me from running away. Her whole body was moving from instinct while she feasted on me. I could tell from her eyes that she was not all there at the moment. Like someone half asleep.
I just accepted my fate, knowing it was my own decision to give her my blood to begin with. ‘I just needed to talk to her… Not be turned into a juicebox.’ I groaned at this slight annoyance, but luckily Camula seemed to be waking up. She moaned while continuing to drink more of my blood. Gripping me tighter as she became more energetic. “I think you’ve had enough!” I yelled at her while peeling her away from me.
I barely managed to remove her lips from my neck, but when I did it appeared to do the trick. No longer drinking freely while passed out, she would have to wake up and see the situation. She groaned while I held her upper body up with my arms, making sure to keep her upright. “I was… Huh?” She mumbled before her red glimmering eyes pierced the darkness to stare into me. Just then the door slammed open, the porchlight blinding us. “Oh… Having fun now aren’t we?”
