Chapter 286: Intricacies
Lush trees and a golden field,
A lost paradise as far as the eye could see;
The sun and moon, the core tree,
A starry sky, shielding the world within.
However, within this lost realm stood a creature of nightmares,
A being so foreign it would send shivers down the spine of anyone who looked at it.
Standing at about half a meter in height, this creature had a bird-like body, resembling an owl.
Its piercing gaze, peculiar features, and most importantly, a completely alien aura that felt utterly out of place in this world, cemented its first impression in stone.
However, at this moment, the alien creature stood silently before what appeared to be an immensely large tomb.
If Makima or Kishibe were to be here, they would have been able to immediately recognize this to be one of the four monuments carrying the Dream Path.

Meanwhile, just as this was stranspiring, Lorien could be seen sitting at the center of his domain looking intently at this devil that had made its way here.
"Well, well, well, I didn't expect the guest to be this distinguished..." Lorien mused, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Looking at the War Devil who had willingly entered his domain, Lorien couldn't help but glance at the sky, noticing a couple of thunder snakes swimming around in eerie silence.
"Tsk, tsk, am I really that untrustworthy?"
"You should have realized by now that the addition of my Dream Path benefits both of us; In fact, you might even be getting the bigger advantage here." Lorien remarked.
"First of all, with the Dream Path, now that humans have a real practice system, their strength is increasing at an incredible speed, which in turn enhances your power in the long run."
"After all, when people die, their power returns to the world."
"Additionally, with humans growing stronger, they're now capable of killing stronger demons and maybe even primordial ones that have never died before."
"So, with their deaths, the laws and power they've practiced and accumulated for so long will return to you; Don't act like you're on the losing side here."
"Otherwise, you wouldn't have allowed all of this would you."
"I guess you would have immediately stoped everything in its tracks if the benefits weren't enough." Lorien sneered as he gazed at these 'thunder snakes'.
Stating this out loud, Lorien then just shook his head as he turned his gaze back to the War Devil, or as he liked to call it, Yoru.
'A week ago, I absorbed a copy of the [Control Law] thanks to Makima joining the Dream Path.'
'Since then, there have been numerous copies of [Laws] being fed back to me here and there, from fiends joining the path and devil hunters doing their job.'
'If it weren't for me forcefully suppressing my [Dream/Reality Law Seed] and preventing it from 'blooming', I would have easily broken through to the [Law Stage].'
"I mean, my perception range shot up to 24km, expanding by a whopping 5 kilometers in radius within a mere week."
'Right now, if it weren't for me worrying about the world will, I would have seized control of the surrounding area forcefully.'
'However, such action is entirely unnecessary, for I find myself quite content with the current state of affairs.'
"After all, I'm continuously receiving copies of various Laws and fragments of World Authority without any effort on my part.
'This is simply the best-case scenario, so why should I break it?"
'Previously, I was rushed, but now, with access to a vast array of Laws, I ought to seize this chance to accumulate as much knowledge as possible and refine my Law as much as I can before advancing.'
'This way, when I breakthrough, I might achieve an advanced state in the [Law Stage] instantly, saving myself considerable future effort."
'After all, the greater the pressure, the more explosive the eruption.'
'Moreover, there's still the [Full World Law Copy], the feedback I've yet to absorb from the JJK World.'
'The instant the [Law Seed] blooms and I ascend to the [Law Stage], I'll seize the chance to absorb it, allowing me to rectify any imperfections I might have overlooked.'
'Tsk, at this rate, I truly wonder if I'll catapult straight to the pinnacle of the [Law Stage] the instant I break through.'
Contemplating this, Lorien couldn't suppress his excitement, reassured that his efforts and the risks he'd taken weren't in vain.
'It appears that fate is smiling upon me, as another crucial Law and authority carrier has come to my side without any intervention on my part.'
'Moreover, to be honest, I am more interested in this devil as a character instead of its Laws.'
Thinking of this, Lorien didn't waste anymore time as he mobilized his power once again, sending another energy incarnation beyond his one-kilometer range.
*Bzzz*
'I really want to meet it in person, however, I can't leave this place quite yet if I want to maintain the status quo.'
'However, for now, this should suffice, as it doesn't make much difference to me.'
Not caring about this anymore, Lorien redirected his focus to the energy incarnation he had just created, guiding it towards Yoru.
'Well, to be honest, I am a bit curious as to why she came...'
'So, let's see what all of this is about.'
-
Meanwhile, just as Lorien began his interaction with another member of the four horsemen, Aki and the devil-hunting group reached their destination.
However, little did they know, the hunter may not always be the hunter, and the prey may not always be prey.
The forest is a vast place where the law of the jungle reigns supreme, and it is not just home to two parties.
This group was soon to realize this fact all too clearly, for they were about to find themselves in quite the interesting situation.
