Chapter 259: Different Nothingness
Eternal, infinite, and all-encompassing darkness that stretches beyond comprehension; This is the unchanging theme of nothingness.
No matter how long Lorien ventured away from it, traveling from one to the other, it remained completely unchanged.
There, within the eternal silence, the very fabric of reality seemed to unravel, rendering concepts such as time, space, and the elements nearly invalid.
Yet, from within this scalp-numbing darkness, pinpricks of light seemed to pierce through the abyss, offering a fleeting respite from the suffocating environment.
To Lorien's knowledge, each of these pinpricks of light that looked like distant gleaming stars represented a different world waiting to be explored.
For him, these stars felt like the gateway to a completely uncharted territory brimming with new possibilities, and filled with unknown mysteries.
However, just then, next to a certain world protected by a multicolored crystal wall, an abrupt flash of golden light appeared followed by the emergence of a small golden ball.
Compared to the towering crystal barrier next to it, the golden barrier in which Lorien stood, ready to begin his journey, looked incredibly tiny.
'Finally, back to this place, I kinda missed it.'
Stretching lazily, Lorien couldn't help but close his eyes, enjoying the complete and utter silence for a moment before stretching lazily and saying.
'Uggghhhh.'
'It's really a good place to stay if one wants to enjoy silence, however, staying here for too long probably won't be too good.'
"Anyway, time to move on."
It's just that before setting off, Lorien couldn't resist glancing back at the world he'd just departed, and commenting one last time.
'Was this the original color of the world barrier or did it change after I mastered it?'
'Frankly, I can't remember as I didn't pay much notice then.'
'However, it's quite an interesting detail, so I'll pay attention next time.'
With a shake of his head, Lorien pushed aside the fleeting thought, redirecting his focus to the vast expanse ahead.
'Sigh...Nothing really changed.' Lorien sighed, glancing at the scene he thought he knew so well.
'However, It's weirdly different at the same time...' He added while gazing at this familiar scene.
Observing it, Lorien really couldn't help but compare what he was currently seeing to the perspective he had when he used his [World Authority] to observe the nothingness outside the world.
'It's incomparable, like day and night...'
'Life is really a matter of perspectives, it's just that those at a higher level can see clearer and further than those below them.'
'Such an information gap might be dispairing at times...'
Thinking of this, a glimmer of wisdom sparkled within Lorien's eyes, as a fleeting sense of enlightenment washed over him.
However, this only lasted for a moment as Lorien who was moving farther and farther away from the Jujutsu Kaisen world within the Golden Protective Barrier suddenly furrowed his brow and glanced back.
"My power... it's weakening," he muttered, a sense of discomfort filling his heart.
'No, it's not that!' he shook his head and corrected himself.
'It's more like the constant boost that I was constantly receiving from the world is fading.'
'Guess that I got too used to it...'
'The further I move away from the JJK world the more it disappears.'
Thinking of this, Lorien couldn't help but feel a bit reluctant for a moment which was quite the normal reaction.
After all, It was difficult for anyone to accept the sudden loss of power, no matter the circumstances.
However, as he continued drifting until he entirely lost this support, Lorien couldn't help but shake his head, casting aside those thoughts as he understood that what he had lost was nothing but external power.
'Well, what's not mine isn't mine.'
'No need to dwindle on such details.'
'It's better to focus on more important things such as...' he decided, redirecting his attention.
Swiftly turning his head towards the direction he had just traveled through, Lorien tilted his head slightly to the side before nodding happily.
'Well, it seems that I can still sense the JJK world no matter how far I am.' he noted with satisfaction.
'Moreover, it seems that even though I've lost the usual support, I can still use my link with it to do many things.'
'For example, by spending the world essence energy, I can borrow power, manipulate it from a distance, and even directly teleport to it through nothingness.'
Realizing this, Lorien's eyes lit up with excitement as he envisioned the countless ways he could use these newfound abilities.
However, as he contemplated the potential consequences that might appear because of its use, Lorien quickly shook his head, rejecting his previous thoughts.
'Any use of these abilities will cause great damage to the world, after all, the farther I am, the more energy needs to be spent to reach me.'
'Moreover, this energy isn't any normal energy as it is the base stone of the world, so using it indiscriminately may cause it to collapse.'
'All in all, this only gives me a way to save myself in times of danger, nothing more, and nothingness.'
Shaking his head, Lorien finally turned his gaze ahead and began looking in the direction that the golden barrier transformed by the golden orb was leading him.
However, as he watched numerous worlds pass by, seemingly disregarded by the orb, Lorien couldn't help but feel a sense of perplexity.
"How does it decide which world I should stay on? This feels... odd," he mused aloud.
'Tsk, destinity huh...' he grumbled, his brows furrowing in frustration.
'I really should find a way to target specific worlds.'
It's just that thinking back to his last experience, Lorien immediately shuddered and decided to postpone any thoughts about the subject until further notice.
Moreover, this was neither the time nor the place as it seemed that after traveling for a few minutes, he had finally reached his destination.
'Well, that was quick...'
'Nothing extraordinary happened this time.'
'However, it seems that the JJK world and this one are relatively close...'
Thinking of this Lorien couldn't help but scratch his head and smile.
'It's not like I am complaining though...'
