Yoruichi raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Kai's enigmatic response. "How could you feel us from that far away when we were hiding our spiritual presence?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
Kai simply grinned, enjoying the mystery he was creating. "That's a secret," he replied, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Orihime, Tatsuki, and Chizuru exchanged glances, their curiosity about Kai's abilities growing. However, their thoughts quickly returned to their friend. "Yoruichi-san, what happened to Kurosaki-kun?" Orihime asked, her voice filled with concern.
Yoruichi sighed, her playful demeanor fading as she prepared to explain the situation. "A Captain and his Vice-Captain from the Soul Society came to pick up Rukia. Because Ichigo's Shinigami powers came from Rukia, they crippled his Shinigami powers as well."
Tatsuki clenched her fists, anger and worry flooding her expression. "That's just... not fair! Why would they do something like that?" she demanded, her voice shaking.
Yoruichi looked at Tatsuki sympathetically. "I understand your frustration, but it's not that simple. The Soul Society has its own rules and regulations, and Rukia transferring her powers to Ichigo was a major violation of those rules."
Chizuru frowned, her arms crossed over her chest. "But Ichigo was only trying to protect the people. He didn't ask for those powers!"
Yoruichi nodded solemnly. "I know, and I'm not defending their actions. But the Soul Society isn't known for its leniency or understanding."
Hearing that, the girls looked at Kai, feeling relieved that he didn't go last night. Kai had always avoided entering the Soul Society's radar, and they thanked their lucky stars that he had stuck to that decision. If not, he too could have been hurt, and that would have been devastating. Although they felt bad for Ichigo, they were glad that Kai was safe and sound.
But then, their thoughts turned to Rukia, and they began to worry about her fate. Orihime's eyes filled with concern as she asked, "Yoruichi-san, what is going to happen to Rukia?"
Yoruichi sighed, her expression somber. "She will be taken back to the Soul Society to stand trial for her actions. The punishment for transferring Shinigami powers to a human is severe, and there's a chance she could receive the death penalty."
The girls gasped, their eyes widening in shock and fear. Tatsuki's hands clenched into fists, her voice shaking with anger. "That's… that's just cruel! Rukia was only trying to save Ichigo's life! How can they possibly justify killing her for that?"
Chizuru looked equally outraged, her own eyes flashing with anger. "It's completely absurd! She didn't do it for selfish reasons; she did it to protect people!"
Orihime's eyes filled with tears, her voice trembling. "Yoruichi-san, is there anything we can do to help Rukia? We can't just let them take her away and execute her!"
Yoruichi closed her eyes for a moment, weighing her options. When she opened them again, her gaze was filled with determination. "There is a way, but it's incredibly dangerous and the chances of success are slim. If you're willing to take that risk, I can help you."
Kai looked at the girls, seeing the resolve in their eyes. He knew that they wouldn't back down, no matter the odds. He sighed, accepting the inevitable. "We are not."
"Wha??" Yoruichi looked dumbfounded, "Isn't this one of those situations where you should say something like, we will do whatever it takes to bring her back?"
"It is not." Kai dropped back to the bed, and Yoruichi, who was sitting on his chest, slid towards his lap. "Soul Society has 12 Captains and 1 Commander that can erase all of us from existence with a single attack. I don't want to risk my girls for such a stupid gamble."
Tatsuki looked at Kai, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Kai, how can you say that? Rukia is our friend! We can't just abandon her to die!"
Kai met her gaze, his expression firm. "Tatsuki, I understand how you feel, but we have to be realistic. The odds are against us. We're not equipped to go up against the entirety of the Soul Society."
Chizuru frowned, her brow furrowing with frustration. "But if we don't try, Rukia will be executed for sure! Isn't it better to at least try to save her?"
Kai shook his head, his expression solemn. "Sometimes, it's wiser to accept the things we can't change. I won't put your lives at risk for a mission that's doomed to fail."
Orihime's eyes filled with tears, her voice barely a whisper. "But, Kai... What if it were one of us? Wouldn't you do everything in your power to save us?"
Kai's expression softened as he looked at each of the girls, his voice gentle but unwavering. "If it was one of you, I would barge into Soul Society by myself, because each and every one of you is special to me. That is why we will not be going. I don't want you to risk your life for Rukia. She is fine and okay, and I would love to save her, but I wouldn't trade her for any of you."
The girls exchanged glances, their eyes filled with a mix of emotions. Tatsuki clenched her fists, trying to find the right words to express her frustration. "Kai, I understand that you're worried about us, but Rukia is our friend too. We can't just sit back and do nothing!"
Kai reached out and gently cupped Tatsuki's face in his hands, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know it's hard, Tatsuki. But I can't bear the thought of losing any of you. You have to trust me on this."
Tatsuki's eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and she nodded slowly, biting her lip to hold back her emotions. "I trust you, Kai. I just... I don't want to lose Rukia either."
Yoruichi looked at Kai with a wild grin, then leaned forward to his ears, "What if I reward you?"
"You are sexy as hell, Yoruichi, but it is not worth it if I am dead. Sorry." Kai shook his head. He grabbed her waist and lifted her off the bed, "I believe you will awaken Ichigo's own power, am I correct?"
"How do you know that?" Yoruichi asked, shocked.
"Well, his powers came from Rukia, but he too has dormant Shinigami powers. His sister Karin has Spiritual Powers too. So it is not that weird. Anyway, if you do awaken his powers, I will make him stronger temporarily with a secret spell, but that is all I can do for him. But me or the girls won't do anything else. Oh, and his friend Sado, I can train him too. He can awaken Fullbring powers. If he is willing to help Ichigo of course."
Yoruichi's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing Kai's confident demeanor. "It's clear you know more than you're letting on," she said, her voice laced with curiosity. "Fine. I'll focus on awakening Ichigo's powers, but don't forget your promise to help."
Kai nodded, his expression serious. "I won't. You have my word."
Yoruichi's gaze shifted to Orihime, Tatsuki, and Chizuru. "I understand your concerns for Rukia," she said gently, her eyes softening. "But Kai is right; the odds are against you. I'll do everything I can to help Ichigo, but it's best for you to stay out of this. You have to be strong and believe in Ichigo's abilities."
Orihime's eyes filled with tears as she stared at the floor, her shoulders shaking with suppressed sobs. Tatsuki put her arm around Orihime, pulling her close for comfort. Chizuru clenched her fists, her eyes filled with a mix of anger and sadness.
