Chapter 10: Wasted effort
Sadly I had to do even more walking to arrive at the Hospital. This time I have not been catfished by my wand this is clearly a Hospital. A large building with ambulances that were parked nearby. It took me a little to recognize what they were as I was used to the large bulky vehicle. Apparently, An ambulance now a days was just a slightly larger car.
I try to enter but I encounter my only obstacle so far. The doors are automatic sliding ones. I am currently invisible so they don't open for me. Is this it? My grand quest stopped because of a freaking door. I could just break down the door but then everyone will freak out. I could take off my cloak but then I'll have to answer some pointed questions. Not to mention losing invisibility when I want to steal things sucks.
I want to think of an optimal solution but I know the easiest way was just to wait. Eventually, someone will have to either enter or leave. It does not make waiting around any less boring. I could contemplate my decision but I kind of already do that far too much. Luckily enough some one had to enter fairly quickly. Who would have guessed Hospitals are busy places?
Finding out where they kept the blood bags was not too difficult. All praise the point me spell. I had to break every single camera I saw just in case. I know it's not going to be a high definition camera but doors randomly opening is bad. Not to mention all their blood bags are going to disappear.
Now that I am thinking about it stealing literally all the blood bags a Hospital has is bad. I might be murdering a lot of people by doing this. As I stare at the hundreds of blood bags I ponder. Is this worth it? I stabbed a lot of people at least a hundred. If I kept doing that I could end up with the same result. On the other hand, I am freaking tired of walking and these bags are just sitting here.
I mean I don't need all of the blood just a drop will be enough to form the connection. I'm pretty sure that breaking the seal on all the bags is just a bad though. I wonder if I could extract some blood through magic.
What am I thinking about magic is the answer. It is always the answer. I really should think of magic first.
I pick up a bag and duplicate it. Sure the duplicated bag is not going to be effective in any potion or ritual but it's still blood. So they can have the dupes while I keep the original. Everyone wins. I shrink the original bag and turn to duplicate every bag here. It took a lot of mana but I was able to get it done.
I then shrink the bags. I need and go to sit down. I needed a freaking break after that. Still, my heist worked out so I should be able to expedite the potion immensely. The amount of bags I stole is not the thousands I expected. I honestly should have known that literally thousands of packs was a pipe dream. I mean I could go on more heists but I would end up with at best two thousand packs. Not really worth the effort.
The only reason I wanted more blood was to lessen the effect on everyone I was stealing from. With the amount I have now I can still get the potion in a day it's just going to be a worst accident for everyone involved. I don't want to hurt someone for no reason but I also don't want to spend days walking around London. Nor do I have the time to do so.
I have rested enough to catch my breath so I stand and leave. Sadly I was waylaid by the freaking sliding door again. I was tempted to just blow it up and leave but an old lady started leaving. So it gets to survive today.
As I left the Hospital I noticed the sun was setting. I could try to get back to Hogwarts but I am rather tired. I might already be in some shit for leaving so I don't feel like dealing with that and being tired. It's not like the punishment for missing a day or two was that different.
So now I need a place to rest for the day. I could try to get back to the Leaky Cauldron. The thing is medieval taverns aren't known for the softest beds. If I was going to be sleeping somewhere I might as well find my best option. A five star muggle hotel sounds great right now. I don't even have to pay just steal a room and set up a ward. If someone tries to enter my room while I'm sleeping they will be stunned. It's not like a muggle is going to be ready for something like that to happen.
Luckily enough I passed a hotel earlier. No need to spend even more time searching for it. The hotel had a revolving door so while people looked at it moving no one really cared. They must have chalked it up to a particularly strong wind. Or they could be thinking of aliens I have no idea. I'm not a mind reader at least I am not one yet. I had to break more cameras but I was used to that already. Sucks that they are going to have to replace their cameras but that sounds like their problem.
I picked a random room on the higher floors. A quick unlocking charm and I was able to enter. It was a pretty swanky place rich decor and all that jazz. There was a person in the room so that kind of drew my attention.
She was a rather stern looking blonde woman. A businesswoman through and through. I would imagine she was used to scowling at people to get them to do what she wanted. I had to imagine as her face was locked in confusion and rising panic as the door to her room opened with no one there.
Before she could start screaming I stun her. Sorry random rich lady but sucks to suck. Maybe next time have magical powers. She hits the ground with a dull thud. Yikes that is going to hurt in the morning.
I approach her and collect her blood. Again sucks to suck if you don't want to be a part of a blood ritual do better. I do prop her up in a chair. I could just leave her on the floor while I slept but that was just rude.
I wasn't going to let her sleep in the bed that was mine now.
While her blood is going to be good for the ritual she is just one person. I want more but that leads me back to the problem of getting it. Alright, I am a magical wizard. I can figure out a solution. I just need a drop of blood. So how can I collect a massive amount of drops? I'm not a speedster and have no ability to turn my self into one. So me manually collecting the blood was not going to work out. I can't really think of a spell that would collect a massive amount of blood. I could try to design one but again it would take time.
So what if I make something that will collect for me? It would have to be something inconspicuous as a three foot tall golem stealing people's blood screamed magic. So what thing stealing people's blood would be waved away? A mosquito. Those fuckers take people's blood literally all the time. No one would be screaming magical involvement if they got bitten. They would just be angry that a mosquito bit them. I may not be the best at conjuration but I should be able to do it.
I opened the window so they had an opportunity to leave. I knew how to conjure a swarm of them. I need a lot of blood so I should really put my back into this spell. I collected a rather large amount of mana and cast the spell. My wand felt red hot as I finished and I could only gape at what I did.
I expected like a bucket amount of mosquitos. What I ended up with was a hoard of them. The floor was completely covered in them and they reached my thigh. God if I sent them after a single person they would be dead in an instant. If Miss Bussiness woman woke up she would probably scream Bloody Mary and pass out. I have once again done something disturbing. I am glad I put her in that chair because if she was on the floor I might have killed her.
I looked them over before sending the command to go collect blood but never from the same person. To not take any of my blood. I also command them to come back as soon as they took from one person. Also to spread out. I did not want a hoard of them marching in the same direction. Many of them will die before coming back but the sheer number will provide me with what I need.
When I finished my orders I saw a wave of black as they flew out the window. I once again shudder. If someone saw me commanding this army they would have recurring nightmares. I think I am going to have nightmares about this.
I flop onto the bed and groan I effectively made my actions today useless. I had no reason to leave Hogwarts to collect blood if I just thought. All my walking was in vain. Not completely mind you as getting the invisibility cloak was nice. I also may have murdered some vampires. The thing is I did not need to do those things today. The only thing that I was desperate for was the blood.
I am also rather concerned with what is going to happen to my potion. My best estimate for the potion being done in an instant was ten thousand people. I just conjured millions of mosquitoes. Sure a lot of them will die but I think having a million come back is still a massive amount. That amount of blood is insane. I truly can not even ponder what the final result will look like but I really really want to know.
Thank god the conjurations are not going to reproduce. If they did they might as well call me Nurgle.
