The sharp sound of blades clashing filled the air near the hot springs.
Wielding his sword with the enhanced perception of his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke relentlessly attacked Kisame, who had once left him battered and bruised. Every slash and strike targeted Kisame's vital points from angles difficult to predict.
Dodging another strike that narrowly missed his face, Kisame instinctively blocked Sasuke's next attack with Samehada, stepping back onto the surface of the hot spring. He felt the displeasure emanating from Samehada and grinned slightly.
"I know you're better at wearing down opponents, not clashing head-on, but there's always a way, isn't there?" Kisame muttered.
As he spoke, he glanced warily at Sasuke, who hadn't even broken a sweat despite the ferocity of his attacks.
In just two short years, Sasuke had grown immensely.
The pressure he was now exerting on Kisame was even greater than what Itachi had once imposed.
"As expected of brothers."
Kisame mused aloud, his hands forming a rapid sequence of hand seals as he prepared to launch an attack.
"Suiton: Suikōdan no Jutsu!"

Seeing this, Sasuke's Sharingan scanned the technique, instantly copying it as he mirrored Kisame's move.
"Suiton: Suikōdan no Jutsu!"

Water sharks leaped from the hot spring, clashing violently mid-air.
Sasuke's hand crackled with lightning as his chakra surged into his water shark, breaking Kisame's apart and sending the remaining force straight toward him.

Unable to dodge in time, Kisame's body dissolved into water.
"A water clone," Sasuke muttered as he scanned his surroundings.
Suddenly—

The real Kisame emerged from below the water, swinging Samehada at Sasuke from close range.
Just as Sasuke was about to evade, a strange thing happened—Samehada expanded, breaking its bindings, revealing a massive, toothy maw that bit down on the lightning chakra surrounding Sasuke.
In an instant, Sasuke's lightning vanished, slowing him down.
Kisame moved in for the kill, raising his arm to strike Sasuke's neck when—
Thud.
Samehada trembled in his hand.
Before Kisame could react, Samehada's chakra flowed into his body without his control.
Crack! Crack!
The sound of glass shattering filled the air.
Kisame's surroundings blurred.
"Is this... genjutsu? But when?"
Before he could fully process the situation, Sasuke's form disappeared from view.
Chidori crackled in Kisame's ears.
"Not good!" Kisame's expression changed as he tried to dodge.
But it was too late.

Sasuke's Chidori-charged hand pierced through Kisame's chest.
Blood spurted from Kisame's mouth as he coughed violently.
Refusing to give in, Kisame swung Samehada wildly.
Having achieved his goal, Sasuke withdrew.
Samehada: Flying Chain Slash!
Samehada's hilt extended over ten meters, aiming another slash at Sasuke.
Clang!
Sasuke parried the attack with his sword, but the force of the blow caused him to stagger back a few steps.
Using the brief respite, Kisame quickly reabsorbed the vast amounts of chakra stored in Samehada, accelerating his regeneration.
Soon, the wound in Kisame's chest from the Chidori stopped bleeding and began to heal.
"I almost lost for good that time," Kisame thought, casting a quick glance at Sasuke.
"Those eyes... they're even more powerful than Itachi's."
On the other side, Sasuke took note of Kisame's rapid recovery, his gaze shifting to Samehada.
He had encountered one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen's blades before—the Executioner's Blade.
But compared to that, Samehada was far more valuable.
"A sentient blade, huh? Interesting."
Sasuke studied Samehada for a moment, briefly recalling a blacksmith named Seimei back in the village, thinking that Samehada and Seimei's crafted tools might have a lot in common.
After a brief pause, Sasuke's attention returned to Kisame.
With the power of the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke had surpassed most shinobi in the world. Very few could now push him to his limits.
And Kisame wasn't one of them.
Kisame, too, had begun to realize how dire the situation was.
But as a shinobi, he had his pride and wasn't about to surrender so easily.
In that moment, knowing this was his last chance to fight back with full strength, Kisame swiftly formed hand seals, channeling his chakra, which rivaled a tailed beast's, into his throat.
"Suiton: Daikōdan no Jutsu!"

A massive torrent of water erupted from Kisame's mouth.
Within seconds, the flood spread out, covering nearly ten kilometers, forming an enormous spherical water prison that trapped Sasuke inside.
As the caster of the technique, Kisame was also inside, but he could swim freely, merging with Samehada to transform into a true aquatic predator.
Even then, he diligently performed another technique:
"Suiton: Senjikizame!"

A thousand shark-shaped water projectiles materialized within the vast water sphere, attacking Sasuke from all directions, leaving no room for escape.
Seeing the swarm of sharks, Sasuke remained calm as he reached up and touched his left eye.

With the Mangekyo Sharingan he had inherited from Itachi, Sasuke's left eye could now use Amaterasu.
The cursed, inextinguishable black flames erupted instantly, consuming the water in the prison like dry wood, quickly spreading and forming a massive inferno.
"This is bad!"
Having fought alongside Itachi, Kisame knew all too well the terror of Amaterasu.
Never expecting Sasuke to possess the same ability, Kisame could only watch as the black flames began to consume the water prison created by his Daikōdan no Jutsu.
He had no choice but to flee before the flames surrounded him entirely.
If Amaterasu enveloped him, there would be no escape.
Boom!
The immense water prison, which had just been created, burst like a punctured balloon, completely collapsing.
In its place, the black flames of Amaterasu continued to spread.
With his most powerful technique easily defeated, Kisame was forced to resort to other tactics to continue fighting Sasuke.
But no matter what he tried—even with Samehada's chakra-absorbing abilities—he couldn't match the power of Sasuke's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
