3.19 One more tussle
They did find a body of water, mostly because they got lost. The plan was to leave the second floor and subsequently the first as quickly as possible. They all certainly had had enough of the dungeon for a while.
It was a small pond, big enough for two people to fit in comfortably. The mouse girl stripped after Isran’s encouragement. Elysi helped her get clean, asking the silent woman for permission before joining her in the water.
Isran looked down at the dead child in her hand. The corpse was too small to be held with one hand. The child looked peaceful, Isran wondered if it had been a still birth.
Once the woman was clean and in Elysi’s clothes she moved back to Isran’s side. She didn’t ask for her child back and Isran held on to the small mouse folk. Her breath shook as she covered its face.
The mouse woman was short, shorter than Elysi by about two inches. Her black hair looked much more beautiful when there wasn't strange things in it. It almost glowed and was as straight as a ruler. Her eyes were big and red her stare very innocent. Her ears drooped down most of the time, occasionally flicking up when they heard a sound.
Her tail was very much a mouse’s tail, light pink and quite long. She hadn’t spoken a word in the few hours she was in their company.
“I found a door.” Phaedra announced. She had walked a few feet away from them when the mouse woman was taking her bath. Isran was worried and wanted to tell her not to stray too far but she had been staring at the child. She was still staring at the child.
A soft, almost melodic voice sounded next to her. “Isran?”
Isran blinked and looked down at the mouse girl.
The woman grabbed her arm and lowered it, taking the corpse from Isran. “If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to bury him here.”
Isran glanced at Elysi. The sheep woman had a frown on her face. “Are you sure? A monster might harm his body.”
The mouse girl nodded. “I am. This is the place where I washed away the dirt of my pain. He is unfortunately part of that. I wish he wasn’t, but—I’d like to at least send him off before I leave the dungeon.”
“Where should I dig?” Isran asked, while rising from the floor. She was glad the woman was speaking and didn’t seem permanently scarred by whatever happened while she was with the smugglers. Although she was a bit worried about how quickly she seemed to recover. Perhaps it wasn’t a recovery, more a leaving the past behind.
The mouse woman sang a soft tune as she covered the corpse. Humming and switching to lyrics while she patted the soil.
As they walked towards the door Isran noticed the mouse girl kept a small smile on her face, her head no longer lowered and her expression bright.
“What’s your name?” Elysi asked. Isran was in front of them, her sword drawn as they got closer to the door.
“Calliope.” Her speech almost always sounded like a song. It was a bit intoxicating.
Isran focused on the door after silently saying the name.
Red had detached from her helmet and wrapped around her armored bicep. There were only three steps leading up to the door, which was a bit odd considering the kinds of stairs she had encountered before.
She rubbed the red fabric in a silent command. Red, the ever-perceptive thing that it was floated to the door and pulled it open. A large green slime jumped through and Isran was ready for it.
She swung down at the monster and let out a light breath when she saw the kill notification.

One of Elysi’s arrows whizzed past her head and hit a green slime between three of its upsetting eyes.
Isran held her blade in an almost defensive stance, the flat part of the blade facing the opened door as she exited the second floor. The sight of roman ruins brought her comfort, they were atleast truly on the first floor.
Two green slime hit her breast plate harshly and fell to the floor. Isran trampled them as she moved forward.
There was a number of green slime bouncing around. Two dead bodies lay of the ground. Green slime moving over them. Isran shut the door behind her. Elysi would be good help but she wasn’t taking the chance.
Wide sweeping arcs divided the slime into several pieces, a mess of viscous green liquid littered the stone ground beneath her.
Red had wrapped around her arm once more and had boosted her speed. The slime landed several hits. But they caused her no trouble. Her strong armor a rather formidable foe for them.
KNIGHT OF GREATNESS REACHED
LEVEL 9
By the time Isran was done she was breathing heavily and her arms felt moderately sore. Red opened the door as Isran tried to wipe slime goop off her blade.
“Don’t ever do that again.” Elysi frowned up at her, her arms crossed.
Isran would. “I could handle it, you would’ve gotten hurt.”
“I could’ve helped.”
“I wasn’t going to risk your safety like that.”
“And what about your safety?”
Isran turned around at Red’s straining, a warrior goblin was charging at them.
“Get in the building.”
The three women didn’t argue, Elysi still looked very upset but she did listen. She crouched beside a pillar and drew her bow, launching an arrow at the incoming goblin.
Red boosted her strength as she moved slowly towards the approaching foe. Their swords met it a loud clang but with the boost Isran was stronger than the goblin. She shoved it back and swiped down towards its smaller frame.
The goblin rolled out of the way but cried out when an arrow hit its arm. Isran took the opportunity to strike once more, her sword burying itself into the monster’s torso.
Red left her arm and moved swiftly towards her right. Isran hadn’t noticed the second goblin, a regular one. It was considerably less smart than the warrior goblin and focused its attention on Red while Isran turned towards it. With a hacking motion it was dead, its body falling to the ground.

Isran dismissed the notification and focused on her surroundings. Trying to identify any monster sounds.
A goblin jumped from a building only a few feet away from Isran, its hammer ready for her head. She side stepped the attack and kicked the monster. Elysi’s shot it soon after.
Isran turned towards the building to see three more goblins jumping down.
A large jump backwards created distance between herself and the three monsters.
One held a mace, a mace with a very far reach. Elysi, the genius that her girlfriend was shot that one first and Isran used the opportunity to attack the other two. The both held spears and shields.
Isran’s sword hit them hard, clearly rattling the monsters. The sword’s reach was enough that she could attack them both with one swing.
A body hit her back and sent her stumbling into the two goblins. Their spears broke upon impact with her armor and they all grunted when they landed on the ground.
The body of the goblin that body slammed her fell to the ground, two arrows in its throat. As Isran was shoved off the two goblins she was on top off. Their shields had slammed into her and pushed her back onto her feet.
Red moved erratically in front of the goblins, blocking their views as they tried to stand giving Isran enough cover and time to slam her sword into the head of one and kick the other’s knee. The crunch of bone breaking through skin was the backdrop of her final attack, stabbing the uninjured goblin in the chest. The second goblin stopped squirming when an arrow hit it in the eye.
