First Quest!
"See. You can do it too, if you just take it slow."
"Sorry, Onii-sama, for troubling you like this."
Currently, Austin was in Luna's room, training his sister on how to live normally without breaking things around her.
Saya's physical might was undoubtedly greater than Austin's. However, since she never got the time to orient adjustment of her physicality to her surrounding, she often broke various things like the doorknobs, stationery, and other small items.
Austin very well understood how it feels to control their own strength at such trivial things, but fortunately, he had his limiters which allowed him to move freely, unlike his sister, who didn't have a system.
So apart from tutoring her, there weren't many options.
"It's okay, Saya. Don't rush it, and take your time."
Austin patted the sulky Saya when suddenly he received notification over his system.
[Ding!]
[New Quest!]
[Degree: - Red!]
[Objective: - Save Sicily Reynolds]
[Time left: - 59 min 36 sec]
[Reward: - 100 Villain's Point]
[Penalty: - None]
'Huh? Sicily? '
It was the first time Austin received a quest from the system and was already thrown into a dilemma. Austin knew that the system mustn't be joking with him, but the problem was, why so suddenly? And what's with the penalty panel?
But since there wasn't much time left to complete the deed, Austin put his legs to work and left the contemplation for later.
"Saya, continue your training. I will be back."
"Ehh? Onii-sama?"
Austin didn't take Saya together since he wasn't sure about the situation. Despite knowing that his sister was more substantial than him, his brotherly instincts got better of him.
He knew that inside the school, there was no one other than headmaster Merlin who could push Sicily to the edge, especially when she had the staff he gave her. So he initiated his search from the outside.
Leaving the school premise just after exiting the dorm, Austin circulated his mana and tried to search in the forest situated on the Northern side of Eden Academy.
One has to remember that Austin doesn't have mana detection like Luna, where he could search over kilometers in one go. His range of detection was only limited to a hundred meters.
Mana detection doesn't depend on the skill or mana reserve; instead, it's a basic skill that runs on one's experience.
'I wonder... '
The time was passing rather briskly, but Austin didn't find a single trace of Sicily nor any of her party members. And since he didn't know whom he could ask in Eden's Academy, Austin's labor was the only option left.
Austin wouldn't have bothered much if not for someone he knew and was acquainted with; after all, he wasn't a hero of justice.
'At least give me the location, you damn system! '
Austin shouted in frustration but little did he expect that the system would hear his voice and respond such kindly.
[Ding!]
[Map feature Unlocked!]
[Click to locate Quest's Objective:]
Austin's eyes went slightly wide as he halted mid-air and saw the abrupt notification popping in front of his retina.
It was like the system was just complying with his request and releasing new features accordingly. Well, he wouldn't complain since time was already running short.
Opting for the tab with a grin blimp, Austin was met with a vast square illusionary sheet that contained the map of the whole territory of Eden Academy, including all the jungles, lairs, and nearby markets.
But Austin didn't intend to check them out since his mind went slightly numb as he saw the place where the red dot, signifying Sicily's position, was located.
'Eden's Academy... But how Sicily... don't tell me she went into the labyrinth!'
Suddenly a cold chill passed down Austin's back as a thought emerged in his mind that most likely would be the reason for Sicily's life-threatening situation.
Austin closed the map in a little hurry before he darted toward the school at full speed.
The labyrinth which made Austin so flustered wasn't like any other lair or monster nest that most of the populace is aware of.
The labyrinth situated beneath Eden's Academy is a terrifying place, to the point that even in the manga which Austin read in his previous life, the abyss-like place wasn't cleared by Kyouki.
The monsters roaming inside the labyrinth were mentioned to be so strange that even the hero, in his full potential, wasn't daring to step in because of the absurdity it contained.
It was weird why the author and mangaka put such a thing in the story when the hero wasn't going to clear it until the end, but it's the same reason it made the labyrinth so mysterious.
Even a single chapter was drawn on the labyrinth where Luna and Kyouki tried to venture independently; Austin realized what difficulty the Labyrinth had in store.
The reason he never tried to train inside the labyrinth before today was headmaster Merlin.
He wasn't just a headmaster but also a gatekeeper of the labyrinth, which was engraved under the Academy even before the fort was built.
Now why the headmaster would allow a mere student to enter the abyss when he himself doesn't dare to go inside was something Austin didn't care about since he didn't have time.
Looking at the watch on the system, he has already used up his twenty minutes due to moving to and fro.
He reached the fort and didn't bother by the monitoring unit, which was warning him for flying at such speed as he landed on the peak of the castle-like academy.
Resting his feet on the ledge of the topmost window, Austin observed the glass, which was restrained with dozens of mana spells.
'Well, it's the headmaster's office after all.... '
Austin removed the limiter from his strength, and after applying his fist with amber shade infernos, he pulled his arm before punching it down on the frame.
**TING**
A bell ringing sound came as the glass, along with the spells, was broken instantly and also gave quite a heavy backlash to Austin's right arm.
His muscles went numb for a second before he took out a potion from the inventory and gulped it down.
The glass, indeed, was conjured with a high-degree spell. Even applying all of his strength and utilizing mana as a backup, Austin felt a heavy impact like he just had punched an enormous mountain with his fist.
Austin already confirmed that Headmaster wasn't inside his office since his peculiar mana signature never came into Austin's detection. Instead, Austin, while breaking the windows, felt something ominous coming from inside.
And after jumping inside the office, his premonition became a reality as he stared at the vast black hole dug in the middle of the room.
Massaging his brows, Austin muttered in a grumpy tone before jumping inside.
"This is going to be hectic."
