Chapter 25: Fury of a Naiad
-Kids, come here- Nidya called them with a voice as cold as an iceberg, all that intense fury and bloodlust was directed towards those men, her enemies -right now!-.
The children, very frightened, had no choice but to nod, but they knew that she would not touch a single hair on their head. They helped the wounded and the unconscious and quickly went to take refuge under Nidya's protective arms, all in full view of the attackers.
Nidya's anger reached levels never before as she took a closer look at the wounded: An unconscious and bleeding boy, the Elf girl suffering from the arrow still piercing her shoulder, and the last girl with her face now adorned by ugly wounds.
Because of all this, the gaze of the beautiful Naiad was sharp enough to the point that it seemed like she could kill just by looking at you.
-Get into the water and wait for it to finish- the children obeyed without complaint or resistance. They were two meters behind Nidya and at that moment she protected them with a kind of water dome that rotated at high speeds, causing them to be unable to see or hear anything outside.
Nidya made sure that everyone was inside, then moved her head and focused her gaze on the others, pointed at them with her hand and prepared that brutal magical attack with which she had killed the woman just a few minutes ago.
-Boss- called the second of the subordinates preparing to fight -I'm sure! That's a magical creature! It seems that it was true that Naiad inhabited this place- the pearly drops of sweat fell down his face and he crashed mercilessly against the ground, which denoted a high degree of nervousness.
"Does that mean we're in trouble?" the boss asked quietly.
-In very serious trouble, Chief. Apparently that little stream is Naiad territory, they hate people entering their territory without their consent and…-
The boss is smart enough to fully understand the situation without the need for his subordinate to complete the sentence, so he finished it - and we entered his territory. Could those plants and the huge crab be considered his?
-And not only that- the subordinate added again- these children begged us not to touch the plants and that the crab was “Nidya’s” pet-.
-I see, those children were referring to the Naiad all along. That only means that they have a good relationship with her- the chief added again.
-That's right- subordinate two -and that stupid woman hurt the children...-.
The boss gulped, even if it was three against one, the situation was still unfavorable for them. It's not that Nidya is very powerful, she doesn't fight hand to hand. The reason was her magic, and being close to a large source of water, she could be considered invincible.
For the moment they were all at the complete mercy of the beautiful and strong Naiad.
-We must create a distraction and escape- he looked at his other subordinate who was watching the Naiad in astonishment and bewilderment -there is no point in trying to take the merchandise, we will not succeed- his subordinate nodded.
What they didn't know was that the aforementioned distraction would come in a way they were not expecting at all.
-H-hey you guys- shouted the man, the number one subordinate.
Of the group, he was always the most cowardly. The one who hid behind his companions while they did all the work and also the one who was most afraid. - HER, SHE KILLED HER! - he pointed at his companion. - DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU "RUSALKA" YOU WILL PAY FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE! -
What he expected was that his colleagues would act in revenge and support him in this attempt at revenge. Something that would not happen, unlike him, both the boss and the number two subordinate were quite cautious people who analyzed the situation and looked for the best way to proceed.
-You- called Nidya with a deathly whisper -have entered my waters without my consent, you have destroyed my garden, you have hurt my crab that I have worked so hard to raise to be big and healthy- at that moment the animal crossed next to her heading towards the safety of the cave.
-Even worse- here was when her expression intensified. Everyone could breathe Nidya's murderous intentions -you hurt these children, the little ones who make me happy with their laughter and now you compare me to a Rusalka, to a vile Daemon... for you, only death awaits you-.
-Water Elemental Magic: Ultra Pressure Water Jet-.
It was the same magic attack that ended the life of the unfortunate woman who dared to hurt the children. This magic attack is of an advanced level, requiring a great amount of magic energy to carry it out. Something that Nidya has in abundance.
The magic attack is able to penetrate through many fairly tough things.
If it were a human body, the ultra-high pressure water jet would cut through it as easily as a red-hot knife through butter. And that was precisely what happened, the powerful magic attack effortlessly cut through the subject's body from one side to the other, right in the middle of his pectorals.
From the hole the blood began to escape without any control.
The other two men felt sorry for their colleague. In fact, they had been working together for years, both with him and with the woman.
Because Nidya attacked her partner she turned all her attention to the now deceased man.
It was cruel to say, but their partner was already dead and there was nothing else to do about it, they wouldn't do something as risky as facing the strong magical creature. Besides, the more time they wasted the more chances there were of being discovered and that's not an option. So they used their partner's death to their advantage, they used Earth Elemental Magic causing a real ruckus.
-Earth Elemental Magic: Earth Wall-.
They erected a large earthen wall and then both destroyed it with martial arts, causing a pile of rubble to fly towards Nidya who once again uses Water Elemental Magic to cover herself from the sharp rubble, protecting her integrity.
There was no point because Nidya's magic was very strong, even if the rocks were extremely sharp they would be of no use if they couldn't reach her.
The water shield Nidya used turned out to be stronger and harder than rocks. Her eyes moved around the surroundings -tch- she clicked her tongue when she noticed that not a single one of her enemies were in the area, they escaped -it was all a feint, they used that distraction to escape. Unlike these two, those who managed to escape proved to be much smarter-.
He sighed in boredom, he had every intention of making them all pay, he didn't want to let any of them get away. Although now, complaining or lamenting had to take a backseat as he still had to take care of the little ones.
She looked towards the field of water that she created and undid it, there were all the children surrounding the Elf girl who could not find comfort for her pain, the drops of blood merged with the water and for a fleeting moment a small portion of the stream turned a carmine hue.
The children were still terrified, one of them still unconscious, the human girl with cuts on her cheeks that sadly left her scars. The other two little children were sobbing in fear and finally the Elf girl crying and enduring the pain of having her shoulder pierced by an arrow.
So without wasting any time she went up to the children and did everything she could to calm them down. Each and every one of them was shedding tears to a greater or lesser extent.
"He'll recover," Nidya said, referring to the unconscious little boy. "That evil woman hit him, but he's not dead so don't worry."
She moved on to the next one, she tried to touch the girl's cheeks, but she moved away because the wound burned like a thousand demons -I know it hurts a lot but bear it and then wash your face with this- she said as she made a bubble float and impregnated it with her magic -the water inside this bubble will clean and eliminate any infection that that knife may have caused you-.
Nidya was absolutely right. Although she didn't know if the aforementioned knife was clean, she didn't want to take any chances. She might have killed many living beings with that knife. She didn't want to risk the tender girl suffering from a horrible infection.
-Nidya...- called the last of the wounded children -it hurts a lot...-.
Her left arm was completely immobile and the reason is that, if she moves it, even with difficulty, she feels a pain which, since she is still a child, she is not able to bear - please take the arrow out, it hurts too much.
Nidya felt as if her magical heart was about to burst, it hurt her so much to see that sweet girl suffer like that. -They are just children, how is someone capable of harming children-.
The idea of hurting children was out of Nidya's head, much less the idea that someone would feel excitement and pleasure from hurting them. Hearing a child's screams of pain, for Nidya, is the most horrible sound that perhaps exists.
She has always played with these children and loves the polite way they treat her. She loves it when they call her and tenderly ask permission to play in the waters of her “home.” Once again she cursed herself for having let those two escape, because, although they did not hurt the little ones, they were companions of the person who had hurt them, and that fact alone was enough for her to sentence them to death.
-Please, take out the arrow now- the girl complained again.
Nidya took a sigh, she had to get it out and clean the wound as soon as possible. It's not good to have enemy projectiles inserted into one's body.
She looked at the arrow and observed it carefully while asking the others to make her sit down - very well, I want all of you to go towards the roots and wait for me to finish, I don't want you to go towards that area - with her finger she pointed towards the area where the corpses are lying on the ground waiting for someone to get rid of them - there is something very ugly there that I don't want you to see. So don't disobey me - everyone nodded and set off.
Before all the children left, she stopped the girl with the wounds on her cheeks for a moment - you are older than those three, do not allow them to go there. They will be scared by what they are going to see -. The face of the beautiful Naiad reflected such high degrees of seriousness - please little one, comply with my order and make them listen to you - she then nodded and quickly went to the children who were helping their unconscious friend.
-Now I will treat your wound- the first thing he did was create another water dome with similar characteristics to the one that had previously covered them.
-I need you to relax your body, don't force yourself or your muscles will try to work and that will only make it harder for me to remove your bangs- the girl nodded.
Nidya looked at the back of her back, right where the arrowhead was sticking out. She couldn't just pull it out like that, the arrowhead is triangular. If she pulled it out it could cause something to get cut while the arrow was moving.
It could cause more injuries inside the girl's body.
Before taking it out she had planned to cut off the triangular part of the arrow.
Water magic is very malleable, you just need to have enough knowledge to do it. Just like Nidya who extended a finger forward as the closest thing to a water knife formed on it. The knife was extremely thin but very powerful. It easily cut off the part of the arrow that wasn't needed.
He sighed again, and did so with much more weariness; now the worst was coming.
-Now I'll get you that extra bit- he said pointing at the arrow -I'll have to do it quickly, so it's likely that...-.
- Will it hurt a lot? - asked the little girl. With the question asked, Nidya couldn't help but feel sad. She didn't know how to tell him that it would probably hurt a lot. With a sad face, she spoke again.
-Please hold on. I need you to hold on- I try to smile at him- I promise it will only be for a moment, you have to do your best-.
With that the girl's face fell into one that now reflected fear, she no longer wanted to feel pain. If right now she was in hell, she couldn't imagine how much worse it could get. She bit her lips as the tears accelerated their course and sobs were emitted from the depths of her soul.
On the shore the children were huddled with the eldest, who did not take her eyes off the dome of water. And it was indeed fortunate that from outside the dome they could not hear anything of what was happening inside, otherwise they would have heard the little girl's heartbreaking cry of pain when the arrow was removed.
