Prologue – a vestige of what’s to come
Staring at the window is who could only be described as a noble woman, wearing elegant clothes, and around her are servants, bringing her meals which she only took a bite out of each.
Because they were not her main meal. The final dish was served on a golden plate, beautiful in comparison to what was displayed on it - a still beating red heart of a human.
Without using utensils, she picked the heart up as blood started to rush out of it, splashing against the plate. Her jaw dislocated, consuming the heart whole with just a single bite.
Her eyes dyed red as power rushed through her. And her lips formed a satisfied smile.
She uttered a simple word, voicing her joy, "Delish~!"
"Young Miss, your application was approved", a servant spoke.
"Excellent~! I wonder what my next meal will be?"

The black hair woman smiled, her hands clasped together into a praying stance. Her prayers were for two, the corpse drained completely of life, and a much higher being, her god, the one who showed her an ember to bring prosperity to her.
Her praying session was interrupted as a man in a cloak walked towards her. Her hazy dark eyes drifted to the man, considering the option to end him here right now.
But her murderous thoughts vanished as he bowed to her, and spoke carefully.
"Praise our lord in blinding light, his Madden Flame who alight us all, our great leader. Esteemed Prophet, I bring you great news as your application to the esteemed Ataraxia Academy was approved."
She merely nodded, signaling him to go away. He did, retreating to the shadow of the room. She returned to her prayers.

A yokai fell as she sheathed her sword, and a cold misty breath escaped from her mouth as she finally relaxed.
"Last one for today.", she became pumped up as she was finally done with her duty, "Wonders what I will have for dinner tonight? Sensei told me to get some food, okay? Or just ramen?"
She thinks for a bit, considering her options.
"A bowl of hot ramen would do nicely. Aah, I have to get ready soon, a new semester is coming soon.", she nodded, "Yes! Fresh blood shall be spilled!"

The boy holds an orb, letting it float up and down, and spins around him as he continues to observe his power.
He added another orb, controlling it with great precision. His eyes, which looked as if they contained the universe, tracked the movement of the orbs before adding another one.
After an hour had passed, fifty orbs were floating around him, doing separate things but never touching one another. He added another orb, but this time... he lost control of it almost instantly, soon the other orbs shot out in a random direction damaging the room he was in.
But none hit him since as soon as they came for him, they were repelled by a gravity barrier, falling harmlessly to the ground.
"Still need more training...", he whispered to himself.
Done for today, he used his gravity manipulation to levitate a letter and bring it to himself. Looking at the letter, he finally smiled in satisfaction.
"I wonder if I can make friends."

"Charlotte, your letter is here!!", Athen came into Charlotte's room, which was a deathtrap for those who were unprepared.
Charlotte smiled, still unnerving to Athen, she was hanging her head upside down on the edge of her bed. On her stomach is her cat, Pan, the Records of Beast.
Athen sighed, "Hah... every time I see you, you get stranger. Are you sure you have control of your Gem?"
"Of course, I do. As Seria calls it, puberty.", the girl giggles.
"Stop calling Silla by weird names.", Athen frowned as she carefully maneuvered through the mess that is Charlotte's room, "Here, your letter."
"Fancy.", Charlotte smiled as she stood upright, startling Pan so it jumped out of the way, "Pan, smell it for me."
"Meow~", the cat sniffed the letter. It is fragrant, and has a sweet smell to it.
"How did they get the letter all the way up here?", Charlotte asked as she carefully removed the wax seal with Reverie.
"The mailbox?.", Athen shrugged as she carefully moved back to the door.
"We have that?", both Charlotte and Pan tilted their head.
"Apparently so.", Athen shrugged, "Anyway, I got to do something with Enna, she's getting a Master's Degree in Religion. See you around."
"See you.", Charlotte nodded.
She reads the letter, together with Pan.
"Class H-1 huh, the eighth letter in the alphabet.", she petted Pan, scratching its head as it meows in euphoria, "Why always the number eight?"
Charlotte folded the letter back in its original form, even putting the seal back on. It is three months before her school starts, so she has a lot of time on her hands.
"Come on now, Pan.", she placed the cat on her head, letting it rest there, "I got a stream to do."
