Chapter 518: Ryun
Oblivion’s Authority
Two dozen techniques lashed out in an instant. More than half of them were beams of {Twilight Cutting Flicker}, lancing across his being straight through the world, passing through everything in their path. The walls of the fortress didn’t impact his attacks, they passed through harmlessly, not even damaging them, his intent wasn’t focused on the walls, only on the being in front of him.
Fethum twisted, his body blurring in a burst of speed that shattered the world around him. Essence burst in all directions, enough that Ryun was certain he would’ve been blinded if he had a vessel with eyes to see. Stone splintered as Ryun’s beams reached him, cutting through pieces of his armor but missing his intended target.
Fethum turned to Light and Storm, and he flashed across to the sky, heading toward the edge of Ryun’s authority at an alarming speed.
Ryun had anticipated that something like that would happen. Six of his Avatar’s had formed above the fortress. Their stats as high as his wisdom could make them.
His Avatar’s no longer had their independence, not since he created Scorn, but he had changed also. His new existence came with being able to multitask to a higher degree.
Three of his avatars launched themselves at the lightning, a technique charging in their conduits. Two walls of {Twilight Shaping Cast} intercepted Fethum, halting his momentum by erasing his kinetic energy the moment he hit them. A {Field of Twilight’s Calm} blossomed around the slowed Unchained, its intent directed toward destroying the man’s powers.
Ryun’s last three avatars unleashed their fully charged techniques. Now that he was in the air, Ryun didn’t have to worry about damaging the tower.
Three {Final End} techniques came into being at point blank range. Fethum’s armor glowed and then Oblivion spheres swallowed him whole.
Ryun wasn’t arrogant enough to think that would be enough. With his Master of Oblivion, he caught all the errant Qi that bleed from his techniques and shaped it into a whirlwind around his target, empowering his {Final End} techniques. With the Coming of the End, he leaned on the Essence of Space around Fethum, on the part of its core idea that allowed other Essence to move through it. With a gargantuan effort of will, he removed that idea within the area he targeted, essentially freezing Fethum in Space.
His The Pull of the End helped replenish him as concepts and Essences around him were being destroyed, as they reached their End. It helped his regeneration, but it also restored every other part of his being, his stamina, his will even. All of it benefited from his perk, he was restored as the world around him lessened.

Lastly, he focused his entire being, his authority, and leaned it on the point within himself that Fethum occupied. He allowed his anger back out, feed his willpower on it, and then pulled. He condenses his area authority, his being into a sphere just surrounding Fethum, and allowed the meaning of his Soul to be reflected in the world fully.
Everything within his being disintegrated as his intent was focused on destruction. Until he encountered a foreign Soul. He felt the resistance immediately, but he didn’t let out. His opponent was injured, had been forced to defend against his techniques, now was the time to strike.
Ryun used his {Mantle of Gathering Twilight} to boost then shift all of his stats into just two, wisdom and strength, leaving only the bare minimum in vitality. His Area Authority focused like a physical aura to crush his enemy with all the weight of his strength—like how he had tested crushing rocks with Maleatus, now he did the same to Fethum.
He felt the armor surrounding his opponent groan, dents and cracks appearing all over it. He saw nothing, nor could he hear anything. Oblivion consumed anything that left the defensive confines of Fethum’s Soul.
His Qi surged through his being, then six techniques formed all around the nearly crushed cthul. Six beams lanced out, cutting into his armor, and the cracks widened as its runes were cut apart. Defensive measures triggered, a shield surrounded him, but Ryun’s stats were high enough that he could prevent him from getting away.
He shaped techniques again, and unleashed a fully charged {Final End} directly into the shield. It shattered, and Oblivion washed over Fethum’s armor, targeting all Essence for destruction.
The outer layer of the armor disappeared and more runes along with it. Seeing an opening, Ryun shaped more techniques, dipping into more of his Qi. Lances of Oblivion blasted out into the armor, and after a moment of resistance, everything failed. Ryun’s being surged forward as his beams cut through the armor and flesh beneath.
Ryun pulled back, released his intent on the world around him. Essences filled his area authority, Gravity resumed and Fethum’s butchered form dropped to the ground. Ryun compressed himself into a vessel then had Scorn cover him in a shell. Not the flesh and bone, but a shell of metal that it had consumed from his Armor of the Last Star, then he dropped to the ground next to the mangled barely living mess.
His armor was destroyed completely, pieces of it were sticking out of the body, what was left of it. His limbs were gone, cut cleanly off by his beams. His chest was caved in by the pressure of his being, flesh and bone were peeled. He stared up at Ryun blankly, his Soul in agony and withering by the moment.
Ryun raised his hand and pointed, shaping a technique. Qi flowed then lanced out, cutting him in half, but targeting the Soul as well. A release from his agony was not a mercy, Ryun just couldn’t afford anything else.
With Fethum dead and gone, Ryun walked over to the entrance to the Tower. He had taken great care not to damage it, but he saw that the runes carved on it were protecting it, he didn’t know if he could even damage it.
Once he got close, he put his hand on the door and pushed. When nothing happened, he had scorn make gaps in its shell around him and slowly unloaded his weight into the world, spreading himself until he surrounded the entire Tower. His being couldn’t pierce inside, nor could his perception.
With his vessel, he pressed his hands on the entrance, then he focused and pushed. His being touched and forced its way through, touching the runes directly. He focused on destroying them, on erasing the Essence that filled them, the Essence of another’s Soul.
Slowly, he felt them give, then shatter, and the glow around the entrance disappeared. He pulled himself back into his vessel and closed Scorn around him. His perception couldn’t pierce beyond the threshold, so he shifted Scorn into his flesh and blood shell, giving him his sight back.
His eyes saw only darkness, though not anything like a Void or Oblivion. More like a gateway someplace else, like the Space was somehow bent. It was the only place where Tali could be, and he wasn’t about to waste any more time.
He grimaced, then stepped inside.
