Chapter 282: Summoning
William's new spear pierced through the chests of three more Soul Formation Cultivators in quick succession, shattering multiple protective Amulets in the process. His attacks had become so strong that their barriers were thin as paper, only stopping the weapon with the gelatin-like barrier that Vishnal's artifacts had cast.
The three injured Cultivators dropped from the sky like flies, creating a cloud of dust at their landing spots while clutching their chests. Even with their hearts torn out, these tenacious Cultivators seemed unable to die easily.
William didn't care about this, he flew from one enemy to the next, exchanging a dozen blows in a matter of seconds before moving on. He ignored the Nascent Soul Cultivators, opting to save the trash for the end.
He looked over at one point to see Perion and Vishnal still recovering from their wounds, but a dozen Soul Formation Cultivators were lined up in front of them, preventing William from getting close.
Worse yet, after Vishnal was damaged by the reflection of his own attack and they lost a few people to the spatial tear, the Soul Formation Cultivators entered a defensive stance. They opted to attack from afar when they could, only defending when William entered melee range.
While William was fighting, he found himself frequently disrupted by the mental invasions of his opponents. None of them were as powerful as Vishnal and the invasive consciousnesses were defeated in a matter of seconds, but these mental battles never resulted in more than a headache for his enemies.
They're stalling for time, but why? Is there really someone else on their way, System? William asked.
-They've contacted the Yu Royal Family.
Those guys? Ugh... William felt a sense of urgency when hearing that Supreme Left might send someone else to stop him. He only had thirty-six thousand Potential Points left, so there wasn't much he could do at the moment.
System, will my Summoning Element work from this distance?
The Summoning Element had been in William's list of Magic Affinities for a long time now, but like some of the other Elements, he hadn't used it once. According to Riyald's teachings, however, he knew that the Summoning Element was able to summon Magical Beasts or even people that had a blood contract with you.
It was a very useless Magic Affinity if one didn't have any contracts, but it wasn't an issue for William, who had two Magical Beasts in the Hillvire Empire.
-It should since it's S-Rank.
What about the Domain, what does it do?
-It empowers the Magical Beasts within a radius of you, like the Blessing Element but better.
William nodded and called Mana of the Summoning Element to his fingertips, biting his finger unnecessarily to draw blood and slamming his hand down.
"Summoning Juts- I mean, come here Uri!"
A large barrier enveloped William and pushed away all the nearby Cultivators within a radius of a few hundred meters while a blinding light enveloped the battlefield. When the light dimmed, a new Soul Formation Realm aura spread throughout the area and a massive red figure released a jet of flames into the sky followed by a deep roar that shook the eardrums of everyone nearby.
Uri's roar was cut short as he realized the situation he was in. Covering their ears in front of him was a mixed group of Nascent Soul and Soul Formation Cultivators numbering the dozens, while two more perceived enemies in the Tribulation Transcendence Realm nearby.
For a Dragon in the lower end of the Soul Formation Realm, this was too much even for him!
"Master, what is the meaning of this?" he turned his massive head to look for William, but he couldn't find the person responsible for his summoning.
Damn it, did the boy leave me? Uri wanted to cry.
"Above you." William said from atop Uri's head. He jumped down to stand on the dragon's nose and used the Sound Element to isolate his voice to just them. "Prepare yourself for the Heavenly Tribulation, then help me take out these guys."
William didn't have enough time to take out everyone by himself. If he was going to win this fight, he needed a powerful ally.
Since he couldn't free Gu Dianlong from his Enslavement Array, the next option was Uri, though reaching the next Realm during a battle would be tough.
System, upgrade Uri to SS-Rank.

--Upgrading Flame Dragon Uri. Protect your Beast during their Tribulation...
Uri's Cultivation suddenly rose to the peak of the Soul Formation Realm, the sudden spike in aura making the onlookers think he had been concealing his Cultivation since his appearance.
Dark clouds formed in the sky and spread across half of the Far West Forest Region while the Flame Dragon looked up in a daze. He remembered that William's backer claimed his abilities could be improved based on good performance, but he never expected it to be in this way.
He hadn't even felt the Spirit Qi enter his body, nor did he need to break through the shackles that bound him in the previous rank. It was as if he had been at the peak of the Soul Formation Realm this entire time, but only he knew that wasn't the truth.
A Heavenly Tribulation... how many years has it been since I saw one of these? Uri sighed as he looked to the clouds. He could tell that his strength already surpassed what the Heavens could throw at him, but the other Cultivators probably wouldn't let him do as he pleased.
Before any of the Pillars of Justice members could make a move, William cast a series of improved Complete Barrier Arrays that had greatly expanded range, wrapping around the Flame Dragon from all four sides and leaving an opening at the top.
Heavenly Tribulations were very particular, so even though Uri could be attacked without issue, helping him too much would lead to the Tribulation changing targets and growing stronger.
William took the initiative to charge at a still-recovering Vishnal while the first Heavenly Lightning Bolt formed. He sped past the other Soul Formation Cultivators at high speed, spearheading through the first layers of defense with ease.
As expected, the group of Cultivators closest to Vishnal were able to react in time, each standing still and activating multiple Artifacts that raised a barrier of their own. William stopped pressing forward, instead targeting the leftmost Cultivator with the greatest strength, piercing through the barrier and his chest in a single move.
Death Mana was funneled through the Original Strengthening Spear and into the Cultivator's body, corroding his muscles and organs while tears formed in the man's eyes. The Cultivator, stricken with fear, launched a mental attack at William that disrupted his channeling, then grabbed William's Spear with both hands and held on with white knuckles.
William tried to rip the Spear away from his opponent's grasp, but the other Pillars members had already prepared a combination Spell, enveloping William in a poisonous miasma made of the Wind, Darkness, and Poison Elements.

While William held his breath to avoid inhaling the miasma, the Cultivator he had pierced through flashed a vicious smile as he held the Original Strengthening Spear in one position, choosing to trade his life in order to take William down.
