Chapter 21: Fight against the upper moon
Lin Cheng's fists collided with Akaza's right foot in a deafening crash.
The impact sent Akaza flying several meters backward. Though he tried to twist mid-air to regain his balance, his posture faltered, and he landed heavily on the ground.
"Is this really possible with a human body?"
Akaza glanced down at his right foot. The sole was completely bent, like a snapped branch, with the internal bones clearly shattered.
The airwaves generated by the clash dispersed the surrounding dust, leaving Lin Cheng and Akaza facing each other.
Lin Cheng stood firm, motionless, like an unshakable mountain.
Akaza narrowed his eyes, the smile on his face widening.
"This is getting more and more interesting. You're strong, Lin Cheng, probably stronger than all the hunters I've killed before. You're unique, a worthy rival I've never encountered."
With a sharp motion, Akaza twisted his dislocated foot back into its original position.
The harsh sound of bones snapping back into place echoed like a macabre refrain. It was the astonishing regenerative ability of a demon.
Lin Cheng moved his fingers slightly. He had used his technique to return Akaza's force intact, absorbing the impact without yielding any ground. In this state, he knew he could face the demon as an equal. He even felt that, in terms of pure physical strength, he was superior.
But he knew that wouldn't be enough. If he wanted to defeat Akaza without the Nichirin Blade, he would need to rely on the power of the sun.
However, this demon was entirely different from those he had eliminated before. Akaza wouldn't stand still, waiting for dawn, and prolonging the fight would only work against him.
Lin Cheng raised his gaze to the night sky. The stars shimmered like a delicately arranged chessboard. Dawn was still far off.
"I need to resort to something else..." he thought.
Lin Cheng focused all his attention on Akaza. The wound he had inflicted moments ago seemed as if it had never existed.
"This is the power of demons, Lin Cheng!" exclaimed Akaza, a satisfied smile crossing his face.
"If I were human, I'd be incapacitated for weeks. But look at me now. I'm whole."
Akaza took a step forward, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.
"As a martial artist, I can't understand your choice. You could transcend, become immortal! It's a shame to see someone like you, with so much potential, wither away with age."
Lin Cheng wasted no time in responding.
"Don't forget something, Akaza. That wound was inflicted by a human."
Lin Cheng smiled, his body radiating warmth under the cold night sky. Despite being bare-chested, he seemed like an eternal flame. His muscles, chiseled like solid rock, appeared indestructible.
"Let's see how much more you can endure!"
Akaza charged again, his whirlwind speed unstoppable.
"Destructive Death: Ring of a Thousand Flying Planets!"
He leaped into the air, unleashing a barrage of rapid kicks. Blue shockwaves streaked through the space like meteors, their trajectories unpredictable. Finally, he descended like a roaring meteor toward Lin Cheng.
Lin Cheng did not back down. He struck with precision, intercepting Akaza's techniques as if they were missiles.
"Good, very good!" roared Akaza, his eyes shining with excitement.
"I've never seen a human capable of countering my attacks with their body!"
Akaza doubled his fury, slamming both fists into the ground.
"Destructive Death: Radiance of Chaotic Blue Metal!"
The ground shook, cracking into multiple fissures that released bluish energy. The cracks transformed into spectral branches that attacked from all directions.
Lin Cheng, agile as a hawk, leapt and dodged the attacks with precise movements. But Akaza wasn't done.
"Destructive Death: Void Style!"
He lunged at Lin Cheng with six consecutive strikes, each unleashing sharp winds like blades. They were like wild lions, pouncing with ferocity.
Lin Cheng spun his body quickly, dodging the onslaught and countering with a devastating punch, like a collapsing mountain.
Akaza tried to block with his arms, but the impact was overwhelming. His bones gave way under the pressure, and his legs, unable to support him, forced him to kneel.
The ground caved in beneath his weight, leaving a crater in its place.
"What incredible strength!" Akaza gasped, his face lit up with an almost sickening euphoria.
Lin Cheng stepped back as Akaza used his broken arm to stand, ignoring the pain. The exposed bones began regenerating, returning to their original state within seconds.
Lin Cheng glanced sideways at the trap he had prepared. A few meters away, the terrain appeared uneven, concealing a pit filled with stakes. He knew it wouldn't kill Akaza, but it might buy him some time.
"Fifteen seconds..." he calculated silently, observing how Akaza's regeneration seemed to slow slightly.
A faint smile curved Lin Cheng's lips as he stepped back, preparing for the next move.

I'm so overwhelmed with college work, studies, and actual work, that I didn't even have a little time to translate a little... Now that I'm on vacation, I'll keep translating every day (two weeks).
The load will decrease, first of all I'm translating because this fanfic caught my attention, at the same time I got into the world of typemoon, so much that I felt like writing a fanfic. Not only that, but I have another fanfic writing about the webtoon character.
It's stupid... maybe I'll never upload it because of time, but it doesn't matter, it will only be there for my satisfaction, if you don't know this webtoon, look it up, it's really good and funny.
