Chapter 177.1 Adrift the Miasmic Sea (1/2)
The glacier drifted along with the waves, carrying two persons on top. They were Wang Ke and Long Yu. None of them knew how long they had been at sea. Much of the glacier had melted.
Wang Ke caught two fish and roasted them, enjoying his own cooking. "Are you done? Come! Have a bite!" Wang Ke set one of the fishes aside. However, Long Yu was sitting cross-legged with the dragon sphere in her hand. She breathed through her nostrils; two Qi strands emerged from the sphere and entered her nose.
The dragon sphere shrunk during the following days. It used to look like a ball, but now it was the size of a grape.
"Tsk, tsk. How strange. You can absorb the energy inside the dragon sphere? But why do you still look like an ordinary person after taking in so much energy? Really weak-looking, and your body still gives off that cold at times. Haven't you expelled all the Immortal Ice?" Wang Ke asked.
She was regulating her energy and couldn’t explain at the moment. All the vital channels in her body were fixed thanks to the dragon sphere. Not only that, they were also lined with a faint radiance that couldn’t be seen outside the body.
There's no making without breaking. My injuries are healed! And my cultivation improved, too? Long Yu thought in surprise. She then opened her eyes and looked at the grape-sized dragon sphere she was holding. She let out a long breath and slowly placed the dragon sphere in her mouth.
"Hey, are you sure that's edible? Be careful, it can explode in your mouth!" Wang Ke warned, feeling shocked.
Long Yu ignored him; she had already swallowed the object.
"Your body is still giving off cold waves!" Wang Ke said worriedly.
"It's not that easy to expel Immortal Ice!" Long Yu explained.
"What do you mean? Don't tell me that my dragon sphere can't deal with Immortal Ice… You smoked it like a cigar for a month already." Wang Ke looked at Long Yu with eyes like saucers.
"Not really. The dragon sphere can't deal with Immortal Ice, but it can heal my injuries. Since my wounds are healed, I’m better prepared to resist the cold!" she explained.
Wang Ke understood the concept. "Ohh, so the dragon sphere is not a medicine but a tonic! It doesn't treat your sickness but helps with your amino acids and immunity?"
Long Yu: "...................!"
What are you talking about? Why can't I understand?
The two didn’t speak much over the previous month. Wang Ke would mostly focus on searching for food while Long Yu healed herself, and would only chat briefly while eating together.
"Sigh. The fog is so dense here. We’ve drifted for more than a month and we still haven't reached a shore yet. We did find some small islands along the way, but there could be some demonic beasts. When can we finally find a shore!" Wang Ke complained out of frustration.
They had not met anyone on the Miasmic Sea, nor could they leave. They were surrounded by a dense fog, making him worried sick. If not for the person accompanying him, he really wouldn’t know how he could carry on like that.
"This glacier has been drifting in circles on the Miasmic Sea. There's no way we will hit a shore," Long Yu replied calmly.
"In circles? That's impossible. I've been keeping a close eye. The glacier’s been drifting in the same direction. It made a turn somewhere along the way, but I made sure to adjust it back on a straight path!" Wang Ke said.
Long Yu shook her head and said, "Nope. We should be right back in the place where you just woke up a month ago!"
Wang Ke was stupefied. "No, impossible!"
"Look at those small islands over there," Long Yu said, "Those are the ones we saw a month ago; this is the third time we’ve passed by. There's a demonic crocodile on that island. I've been here before!" Long Yu explained.
Wang Ke: "...............!"
The third time?
"You didn't ask!" Long Yu replied.
Wang Ke: "...............!"
So it's all my fault, huh?
Long Yu continued, "Every time the glacier was about to move further away, you were the one who pushed it back. It would then drift along a new ocean flow and return to this place."
Wang Ke: "...............!"
Out of frustration, Wang Ke stopped picking out the bones in his fish, swallowing the whole thing, bones and all. And in his heart, he cursed, Damn it!
It took him quite a while to calm down.
"You’re familiar with the Miasmic Sea?" Wang Ke asked, looking at Long Yu.
"Very much so. I know the location of almost every island," she answered.
Wang Ke: "...............!"
"Why didn't you tell me you knew the region?" Wang Ke asked in frustration.
"You didn't ask! I thought you liked to drift on the sea!" Long Yu replied.
"Who likes that? Who does!? Do you even know how much money I can earn out there every day? My God Wang Tower is still awaiting my command… There are so many matters to attend to! The Demon Sovereign, Zi Bufan and Zhu Hongyi will be going to the tower’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. Did you know? Who told you I liked drifting on the sea?" Wang Ke grumbled, feeling annoyed.
Long Yu glanced at Wang Ke with knitted brows, "Did the Demon Sovereign ever agree to help with the ribbon-cutting ceremony?"
Wang Ke blushed; it was too big of a bluff. However, he was reluctant to back down. "Of course. The Demon Sovereign promised this personally! I'm the Divine Dragon Branch Lord, assigned by the Demon Sovereign himself. Of course he would grant me just a small favor!"
Long Yu: "...............!"
"Oh Yeah, Long Yu… Can you give me some directions? Where are we right now? And what's the fastest way for us to get back on shore?" Wang Ke looked at Long Yu expectantly.
"This is near the demonic crocodile’s den. That way! It should be close, maybe one or two days to reach Divine Dragon Island, considering the glacier’s speed!" Long Yu pointed into the dense fog.
"Divine Dragon Island?" Wang Ke was astonished.
"Yeah!" Long Yu nodded.
