In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]

Chapter 12: The Land of Everwinter (2)

In a few moments, the air surrounding them became alert. Guides were immediately scooted under the safest part of the encirclement.

Huge wolves then began appearing one after another; their majestic white fur seemed to glimmer under the light, looking so pure and gorgeous. In contrast, their crimson and ferocious gazes appear out of place, growling with aggression.

Rise's eyes lit up as soon as he saw them, they were indeed so beautiful, as the reports say.

The wolves were way bigger than normal wolves; their fur was pure white, and there were two horns in their heads, sparking like crystals. Not to mention those eyes, if one ignored the ferocious glimmers on it, it did resemble an expensive ruby.

However, the most eye-catching of them all... Rise's gaze landed on the one at the center of the pack. Its figure dwarfed every wolf surrounding it, and the horns in its head were incredibly bigger and shimmered like pure crystal.

It immediately growled once its gaze fell on Kamille, seemingly noticing who was the most powerful one and the threat amongst humans.

Interesting...

Rise's eyes nearly took the shape of a coin. In his past life, he had never taken an interest in anything, but one thing had left a big impression on him in this mission.

The Crystal Wolf.

They were dubbed as such because of their crystal horns, which immediately got the attention of the upper class. The price of these horns, especially by the leader, was unprecedented.

And it was not a useless crystal either...

Soon, the wolves arrived; it was like all of the wolves in the vicinity were summoned to this one place. There were far more wolves than they could handle.

Fortunately... There was now a wall, and the Espers could fight with ease without worrying about the Guides being attacked by the cunning wolves.

The wind began to surge once more, and Kamille's expression was focused on that one wolf in the crowd.

"That one's mine." He did not give any further instructions but stated his target.

Obviously, he was pointing at the leader, who glared and became alert, infecting the wolves around it.

Rise chuckled silently, taking out his hands from his pockets. He also took a step forward and stretched his arms.

"You can fight him without worries, Guild Leader." Meeting those gray pupils, his excited smile widened. "Leave your back to me... I promise to be your best defense."

His words were a bit playful, and even more so was his tone, which sounded arrogant, and yet, for some reason, it felt so sincere in Kamille's ears.

Kamille did not know these feelings, but as they were in this situation, his mouth opened, and he said something a bit out of his character, startling even the members that were always with him a lot longer than Rise.

"Do as you promised then..." Kamille agreed, his lips curling up slightly.

This sounded simple, but for him, someone who always wanted to do everything, it seemed he had never depended on anyone's support before.

His guild members were more like the ones who would deal with less-threatening and smaller ones in the mission.

Hayes's eyes flickered on Rise, and his curiosity suddenly grew. No one also fussed about it and began to take action as the wolves got near.

Rise laughed and raised his hand. "Watch..." He stepped forward and slowly flicked his fingers; his eyes then winked at Kamille. "...how I'll make way for you."

Rise was always dedicated as an Esper, and even more so for Kamille.

Soon, the moment that Rise had flicked his fingers, the wolves that were running in front, ready to gnaw the flesh of the humans, suddenly found themselves colliding at something, and before they knew it... not only them but also Kamille and the others, a huge number of the wolves were flattened on the ground, their blood and flesh splattered all over the ground.

They could not even release a howl of pain, just like that... They were all dead, crumbling into pieces. The gruesome scene stunned everyone present.

For a moment, there was a silence that surrounded everyone. The wolves, who were eager to attack, also halted and looked in shock at the scene.

Rise laughed wildly, proud of what he had done.

"See, Guild Leader, as long as I'm here... No one will be able to get near you."

And so, you can fight that huge dog as you wish. Rise added to his heart.

After his voice landed, everyone, including the wolves, finally woke up from their shock and reacted. The leader became furious as he howled, his crimson eyes shining with extreme violence.

Hearing the leader's furious howl, the wolves also followed and howled, dispelling the fear that they felt at what Rise did.

As though not afraid of death, the wolves quickly ran and attacked in their direction once more, coming in even bigger waves. Kamille also did not waste any time; with the wind under his feet, he flew in the direction of the leader, waiting for him.

The leader seemed to become bigger; sparks of ice began to appear at its back, and its horn moved into a swirl, preparing something.

Kamille also seemed to have taken what Rise had said, trusting his back to him. Without any regard for the wolves surrounding the leader, he descended smoothly, and a sword appeared in his hand.

As he slowly descended, the leader howled, and the surrounding wolves attempted to leap; their jaws were ready to gnaw and bite the arrogant human.

And yet before they did, they were suddenly stopped; a force field was created around the leader and Kamille. The unfortunate and weaker wolves whimpered as they accidentally entered the field and died one after another. Those who fortunately lived would not be able to live for long; their limbs were torn, and blood was splattered around the field.

The white field was now stained with blood even before the fight between the leader and Kamille had started.

"Who said you extras could interfere?" Rise smirked.

He did not know what transpired inside this gate before, but he did not care. He would write another history.

Furious, the leader turned to Rise and growled before howling, ordering the wolves. Simultaneously, the surrounding wolves turned their heads in Rise's direction.

Their target... Rise!

Rise smiled without fear.

"Come... and die." Rise laughed, snapping his fingers. Another batch of wolves were dropped dead, his eyes shining with insanity.

Kamille could not help but smile as well. He shook his head and slowly pulled the sword out of its hilt. He pointed at the leader, "Your opponent is me."

Even with the difference in size, Kamille seemed more dominant in Rise's eyes.

The leader growled and finally moved, baring its teeth at Kamille. Kamille did not wait foolishly for it. He swung his sword at the wolf; his movements were smooth, the wind becoming his companion.

Not only that, he could focus on fighting the leader without thinking of anything else. His back was now secure.

While Kamille was fighting the leader, the fight around the wall also began.

The Espers were still the cream of the crop of the Guilf and fended off the wolve's attack quite easily because of the small forcefield around the wall. Of course, their eyes also could not help but look at Rise in a different light.

Those who glared and provoked Rise could not help but feel ashamed.

They finally knew why.

Why could Rise be so arrogant and the Union just let him off and also afraid of him at the same time? This was the reason.

He was powerful. Powerful enough to contend with an S-rank.
